Chapter 442

The Skyliho Group was on lockdown by the cops. I pushed open the door to find Steven inside, smashing stuff. The moment he saw me, he chucked an ashtray at my head. "I told you to be here in ten minutes! Why are you just getting here now?"

I dodged the ashtray and frowned. "What's going on? Why are there so many cops downstairs?"

"Don't you know Katherine's missing?"

I acted surprised. "What? Ms. Wilson is missing? When did this happen? How come I didn't know?"

"John, cut the crap. You must know where Katherine went!"

"I haven't been around the company these past few days. How would I know? Mr. Walton, watch your words. Ms. Wilson's disappearance has nothing to do with me!"

Steven slammed the table, furious. "Impossible! You better spill it, or don't blame me for getting rough."

My face turned cold too. "There are so many cops downstairs. I want to see how you plan to get rough with me! Mr. Walton, don't think just because you're the boss you can pin this on me. This has nothing to do with me!"

Steven snarled, "Screw you! Tell me where Katherine went! That bitch dared to plot against me! Doesn't she care about her family?"

Just then, urgent footsteps sounded outside the door, and eight cops rushed in. The lead officer pulled out a search warrant. "Steven, we suspect you're involved in a murder case and money laundering. Please come with us for investigation!"

Steven's face turned livid. "I'm an honest, law-abiding businessman. How could I possibly commit murder or launder money? I'm not going with you. I want to see my lawyer. I won't go anywhere until I see my lawyer!"

The lead officer sneered, "We already have evidence against you. After several days of investigation, the evidence is conclusive. Take him away!"

Silver handcuffs clicked onto Steven's wrists. In that instant, he looked like a trapped beast, ferocious yet powerless. "You are wronging an innocent man! I will sue you! I am a law-abiding citizen!"

Steven was taken away just like that. I didn't know what Katherine had done, but I knew Steven was finished this time. Katherine didn't even give him a chance to react.

And because I was the acting vice president, I was also taken back to the police station for investigation. It wasn't until the next day that I was released from the police station.

When I came out, I was a bit dazed. It was the first time in my life I had been to a police station, and it was because of Katherine.

While I was worried about Katherine, I was also slightly concerned about Linda, who was far away in Greenvale City. I thought, 'Before Katherine left, she set up many traps. Could Linda be involved in this? If so, things could get tricky.'

I took out my phone, and sure enough, Linda and Stella had called. I quickly called back, and soon, the call was connected.

"John, what the hell is going on? I heard Katherine disappeared?" Linda's anxious voice came through the phone. "Last night, the Sevan City police called me, asking me to return to Sevan City for investigation. Has Steven been arrested?"

My heart skipped a beat, and I forced myself to calm down. "Don't be scared. Let me ask you, did you participate in the money laundering with Steven?"

"No!"

Hearing the firm answer on the phone, I sighed in relief. "Tell me the truth, is it really no or just pretending?"

"Really no. I knew about it but never participated. He was secretly transferring assets. How could he possibly let me get involved?"

With that, my heart was completely at ease. "Good, as long as you didn't get involved. The cops are accusing Steven of murder and money laundering. You've got a solid alibi, so they won't hassle you."

"Alright, I'll book a flight back right away. We'll talk when I get back."

After hanging up, Ava pulled up in front of me. I hopped in the car, and she said, "John, I've already booked a room." I nodded. Ava had been running around all day, even suggesting some activities to lift my spirits.

In the presidential suite, Ava and I had some intense sex. But my mind was elsewhere, thinking about what plan Katherine had left behind.

Maybe because I was distracted, I lost track of time. Ava lost count of how many times she climaxed. I touched my nose, venting all my frustrations and doubts, and Ava took it all.

Afterward, she obediently lit a cigar for me. "John, what's the plan now?"

I patted her head. "First, we figure out what's going on, then we get revenge!"

That afternoon, Linda and Stella's plane landed. This time, I didn't let Ava come along. It had been a while since I last saw them, and Linda and Stella seemed more voluptuous than before.

"Ms. Foster!" Since we were in Sevan City, I didn't dare to act too intimate with Linda.

Stella looked at me and snorted, "You're having a great time living alone in Sevan City, leaving us in Greenvale City to work for you. How could you bear it?"

I grabbed her hand. "I was wrong, don't be too mad."

There were no such taboos with Stella. She found she couldn't break free, so she let me hold her hand.

Linda asked, "How's the company now?" As soon as she got off the plane, she asked about the company, not Steven, which showed she didn't care about Steven's fate at all.

I replied, "Operations are suspended. All the company's ledgers have been taken away."

"Let's go to the police station!" Linda's expression was calm, without a trace of panic. At this moment, she had returned to being the cold and aloof vice president in my mind.

At the police station, Linda was very cooperative. Initially, they wanted to keep Linda at the station overnight, but Linda directly said, "I'm pregnant!"

The officers looked at each other. After confirming Linda was indeed pregnant, they allowed her to go home but prohibited her from leaving Sevan City until the investigation was concluded.

Linda was straightforward. "If I wanted to avoid this, why would I come back?"

However, Golden Sunset Estates had long been sealed off, so we couldn't go back there. I booked a seven-day presidential suite at the Royal Elegance Hotel. To avoid suspicion, I booked another room next door.

In the evening, Linda pulled me into the bathtub alone after dinner. While getting intimate, she asked, "Is Katherine really dead?"

I nodded, showing a hint of sadness on my face. "Yeah, that's what the cops said."

"Good riddance. That troublemaker harmed others and herself!" Linda sneered, "That's karma."

"Since she's already dead, let bygones be bygones," I said.

"In the end, I still won!" Linda looked at me. "Don't you want to know about the grudge between us?"

Of course I wanted to know, but I couldn't appear too curious. Having been with her for so long, I had a certain understanding of her temper.

In some ways, she and Katherine were the same type of person. I couldn't force the truth out of her unless she wanted to tell me.

"If you want to talk about it, go ahead. If not, then don't." I sighed. "She's dead, so there's no point in talking about it."

Linda's face changed. "What do you mean? Are you sighing because you think it's a pity she's dead? Did you develop real feelings for her while you were undercover?"
