Chapter 235

"Take it slow if your are not good at this. I'll have Mr. Brown help you. Right now, it's all about drawing in more people. Plus, you need to build your own team. Let's put it this way: the new media department is going to be the company's flagship department in the future."

I was nervous, too. I hadn't planned to launch the new media channel so soon, but Joseph gave me a sense of crisis.

If he finds me, the company won't last long. But if we have our own media channel, things will be different.

Our ability to handle risks will improve a lot.

"But I'm not confident. I'm scared I won't do well," Mia said.

"Do you trust me?" I asked.

She nodded.

"Good, then can I trust you?" I asked again.

Mia looked at me and nodded seriously. "Yes!"

"Alright, go get Mr. Brown and the HR manager," I said.

Soon, they both came in. Although most of the company's executives are women, they're all very capable.

"Mr. Cena!"

"Have a seat." I sat on the sofa and poured tea for the three of them. "WY Media Company is new, less than half a month old, but we've already made waves. That's thanks to your hard work."

"Without your support, we couldn't have done so well," Holly said.

I waved my hand. "Let's skip the pleasantries. In the future, what's right in the company is right, and what's wrong is wrong. No one can take away your credit."

"Okay, Mr. Cena!"

They all agreed in unison.

I said, "Thanks to everyone's efforts, WY Media Company is ahead of schedule. So now, I've decided to open a new media subsidiary and start our own new media channel."

"Mr. Cena, isn't this a bit rushed?" Holly asked. "Sure, our growth is great, but there are still many hidden issues."

"Tell me about them," I said.

"Right now, the marketing department has twenty people, half of whom are newcomers who just joined two days ago. They've just finished training and need time to get proficient. Even the experienced employees have issues with project coordination."

"I'm managing the new employee training," Mia said. "But these issues can be overcome. Once they go through the process, they'll get proficient."

Holly continued, "Another issue is on my end. The channel coordination is unstable and still needs time to adjust. Currently, I'm the only one handling it. Fortunately, the existing orders in our company are enough to help us adjust the channels, but it still takes time."

Holly said, "If we could delay for half a month to a month, it would be much easier to start the new media channel."

"The issues you mentioned are real, but I think they can be overcome."

I said, "Delaying is fine, but others won't give you the chance to wait. The media industry updates and changes very quickly. Mr. Brown knows this. I also want to take it slow and give everyone some buffer time, but our competitors won't give us that time."

"So everyone needs to push through. I'll rent the office next door. Ms. Anderson, you will recruit new media-related personnel, with a ratio of about three newcomers to one experienced person."

Ms. Anderson nodded. "Yes, Mr. Cena!"

I said, "Additionally, we can promote two supervisors from the newcomers. Some have already stood out, and those who deserve promotion should be promoted! Also, if colleagues in the marketing department want to transfer, they can."

"Yes, Mr. Cena!" Mia nodded.

"Then, Mia, you will be promoted to Vice President, and you will be in charge of the new media department with Mr. Brown's help."

I added, "Inform the finance department to finalize the office space and license matters today."

"Got it!"

The three of them left the office, and the company became lively again. I could hear their enthusiastic discussions from outside.

I thought about it and realized it was time to ask Tony for help.

Of course, not to have him do marketing, but to be a director!

Tony minored in photography in college and even won awards. He should be able to handle being a video director.

I dialed Tony's number and set up a lunch meeting at the YT Building.

After going through some documents in the office, I headed to the YT Building around eleven. I reserved a small private room at The Hungry Palette, a high-end local cuisine restaurant.

Tony showed up at eleven forty.

He looked much more energetic and in good spirits. Clearly, he was doing well at FF Media.

As soon as we met, he said, "I'll transfer the second payment to you this afternoon at two!"

It was so soon. That meant another $700,000 would hit my account. I was thrilled!

"Come, sit down. I have some good news for you!" I said.

"What good news?" he asked.

I poured him a cup of tea. "You still know how to film, right?"

"Why are you asking?" Tony asked.

"Just answer me directly," I said.

"Of course, I haven't forgotten," Tony said. "Even though I'm doing marketing now, I've never forgotten my dream."

"That's good. Come work with me," I said.

"What do you mean by'work with you?'" Tony was surprised.

"That's right. I've started a company focused on new media, and I need a director. Among the people I know, you're the only one who knows how to film."

"When did you start a company?" he asked.

"Right after you joined FF Media," I replied.

"Then you shouldn't have let me join FF Media," Tony said.

"I didn't plan on doing new media at the time," I said.

"What do you mean? Your company wasn't doing new media before? Changing directions? In my opinion, that's not good. Although I've never run a company, if a company changes its business direction rashly, it could fail," Tony said.

"You should have faith in me," I said.

"You should let me help you," he said.

"I didn't think of it at the time," I said. "But it's not too late now. Just tell me if you're willing to come."

Tony said, "Of course, working for you is definitely better than working for someone else."

"Good, but my new company needs time to prepare. It won't be ready to start filming right away."

Tony asked, "How long will it take?"

"About ten to fifteen days," I replied.

"I've been at FF Media for over half a month, and your company isn't ready yet," Tony said.

"No, my current company is doing fine. I'm talking about the new media-focused company."

Tony was stunned and said in disbelief, "So you're planning to start a second company?"

"That's right!" I nodded. "The office space is already being negotiated. The personnel should be in place in a few days. You don't need to worry about the funds; the initial capital is one million dollars!"

"What? One million dollars!"

Tony stood up, his eyes wide. "Do you have a wealthy benefactor? I know you're strong and handsome, and rich women love you. You should tell me if you have a wealthy woman's help."

I was exasperated. "I don't have a wealthy woman's help. It's all on my own. The main thing is that I met some important people who helped me achieve some success in a short time."

"The important people you're talking about are wealthy women," Tony said.

"I said you should stop thinking about getting help from wealthy women. If I really had a wealthy woman's help, I wouldn't need to work."

He nodded. "You make a good point."

I poured him another cup of tea. "Once the third payment is in, you can resign from FF Media. Although it's a bit unethical, the FF Media boss is making money too. He won't lose out."

"I understand," Tony said, "but to be honest, I don't know if anyone will watch what I film."

"It's not a big deal. Just follow the script. Look at those short videos now; they're all scripted."

"True!" He said, "Even though we're brothers, we need to be clear about work."

"When you come to work for me, there will be no probation period. Your monthly salary will be ten thousand dollars. If you do well, you'll get equity shares and dividends. By the end of the year, I guarantee you'll be driving a luxury car."

"I'll take your word for it," Tony said.

"I'm not joking with you," I said, "but let's be clear—we can't reveal that we're good friends at the company."

"Got it."
