Chapter 341
"Who the hell is he?" I demanded, my voice dangerously low.
"A friend." she stammered, avoiding my gaze.
"If you don't spill it now, I'll dig it up myself, and trust me, you won't like what happens next. Even if you drop out, I'll track down your family."
She looked at me, scared out of her mind. "Okay, okay, he's a rich friend of mine."
"What about the chat logs?"
"We don't have many...We usually just call each other."
"Is he the one behind all this?"
She just stared at me, shocked and silent.
Got it. This was definitely a setup.
"Do you know his name?"
Seraphina shook her head. "No clue, just that he's loaded and has a thing for schoolgirls."
I frowned, glanced at the guy on the floor, Mason Fitzgerald, grabbed a broken bottle, and squatted down. "I'm gonna ask you a question. Answer straight, and you won't get hurt. Lie, and you can kiss your other hand goodbye."
Terror widened his eyes. "Just ask, man! Just ask!"
"Who sent you?"
"I came on my own, no one sent me."
I jammed the broken bottle into the back of his right hand, piercing through his palm. Mason screamed like a banshee.
I twisted the bottle and yelled, "Who sent you?"
The guys with him were shaking in their boots.
"Seriously, no one."
I yanked out the bottle and stabbed his left palm.
"Lie again, and next time it won't be your hand."
"Stop! I'll tell you, it was Mr. Morales who sent me."
"Got his contact info?"
"Yeah!"
Mason was drenched in sweat, barely able to speak.
"Call him right now! Find out who's behind this."
"Sir, I messed up, I really did, please let me go!"
"No way!"
I was fuming, thinking, 'Mess with my family, and you're dead meat.'
Just as I was about to finish him off, a voice shouted from outside, "Police, don't move!"
Patrick rushed over. "John, the cops are here. Let them handle it. We've got plenty of ways to get answers."
I swallowed my anger and nodded. The cops took control of the scene.
Then came the statements. A female officer took mine. "Do you know what crime you've committed?"
"I was defending myself. Those jerks were trying to mess with my sister. Am I supposed to just stand by?"
"That's just an excuse."
I rolled my eyes. "Believe what you want. My lawyer will handle the rest."
The female officer couldn't do anything. After leaving the station, Patrick said, "We found out."
"Who?" I asked.
"The guy behind this is Quentin Morales, a manager at Skyliart Group."
My blood ran cold. "Joseph," I breathed, the name leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.
I knew it. Joseph was behind this again. His company was falling apart, and he still had time to mess with me.
'Fine, this time it's all-out war!'
"John, I know you're pissed, but this case is just attempted indecency. At least Aurora's okay. It's a blessing in disguise. We'll get back at Quentin and Joseph, but let's be smart about it."
I nodded. They only talked on the phone, no solid evidence, so Mason was the only one in deep trouble.
"Don't let Seraphina off easy. She went after my sister, she has to pay."
"Don't worry, she won't bother Aurora again."
I took a deep breath. "Patrick, thanks."
Patrick patted my shoulder. "Don't mention it."
"But seriously, calm down. You're kinda scary right now."
I nodded. I rarely lost my temper, but when I did, it was like a storm.
After splashing some cold water on my face, I got back in the car. Ava was comforting Aurora.
As soon as she saw me, she broke down in tears, "John!"
"I'm so sorry, this is all on me." Guilt hit me hard. If I'd known, I would've picked her up from college myself, and none of this would've gone down.
"No, it's my fault for being too naive and trusting her."
"Don't sweat it, she won't be bothering you again."
I gently patted her head, "I swear, no one's ever gonna mess with you again."
She nodded, "John, please don't tell Mom about today. She won't be able to handle it."
I sighed and pulled out my phone, calling Mom, "Hey, Mom, everything's fine now. I found Aurora. She's not coming back home tonight. Whatever she needs, I'll get it for her."
Back at the apartment, I said, "Tell me what you wanna eat, and I'll whip it up for you."
"I want some porridge."
"Got it."
I thought, 'Porridge is perfect after a rough day, easy on the stomach.'
After Aurora finished her porridge, she crashed. I gave her the master bedroom and took the guest room myself.
Thank God nothing happened today that I'd regret forever, or I don't know what I'd do.
Just then, Mia texted: [You coming over? I just got out of the shower.]
I sighed. After today, I wasn't in the mood.
I: [I can't come tonight, my sister's here.]
As soon as I sent the message, Mia video-called me.
I groaned but answered it.
In the video, Mia looked sneaky, "Where's your sister? Let me see!"
"She's asleep."
"Didn't she go back home? John, are you cheating on me?" Mia's face turned cold, "I got all dressed up, and now you're bailing on me."
She had makeup on, wore a sexy camisole, and even made steak with a bottle of red wine for a romantic dinner.
I felt super guilty, "I'm sorry, something happened today."
"What happened? Are you with another woman?"
"Keep it down, don't wake my sister."
I made a shushing gesture and walked around the room, "See, no other woman here."
"This afternoon..."
I gave her a quick rundown of what happened. Mia was shocked, "What happened to that jerk? Did you mess him up?"
"Don't worry, he's not getting off easy."
I thought, 'Anyone who messes with Aurora is gonna regret it big time.'
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" She said, a bit hurt, "Wait, I'm coming over now."
"No need, I got this."
"Got what? How are you gonna take care of Aurora?"
She hung up, and about half an hour later, there was a knock on the door. I opened it to see Mia standing there.
This was her first time at my place.
"Where's Aurora?"
I pointed to the master bedroom, "Sleeping in there."
Mia walked over, quietly opened the door to check, and then sighed in relief.
I knew what she was thinking, "When have I ever lied to you?"
She pouted, "I've been waiting all night, and now you change plans last minute."
I got it. She'd left Skyliho Group a while ago, and we still hadn't hooked up. It was kinda unbelievable.
Especially since she was always around me.
I hugged her, "I'm sorry, I've been neglecting you."
"Do you know how hard it is to wait?"
I picked her up and carried her into the room, "You wanna do it here?"
"What are you thinking? The old apartment has crappy soundproofing. We can't wake Aurora."
"I can be quiet."
She bit her lower lip, giving off a seductive vibe that made my stomach flip.
"Alright, but I can't let you have sex with me in this dump. I'll give you a perfect experience."
Even Aisling and Ava had sex with me in a fancy villa. No way Mia should get anything less.
