On stage, Nicole looked pissed. "You're rebelling, this is too much."
I couldn't help but smirk inside. The marketing team was both the easiest and hardest to push around.
Top performers, especially, were untouchable. Even Jenny didn't bother them as long as they did their job well.
Now, sixty or seventy people, including many top employees, were standing up. If they left, other companies would snatch them up in a heartbeat.
Nicole couldn't handle that fallout, not even the VP could.
Good marketers are hard to find and crucial for the company.
Nicole's promotion to supervisor and then VP had already ruffled feathers. Her constant harassment just made things worse.
I stood up, then Paul, Mia, and even Lily followed.
More and more people stood up. Except for Philip and Brandon, almost everyone was on their feet. "Go ahead, fire us all if you dare!"
Nicole turned pale, barely able to stand.
He didn't want to piss everyone off.
"Ms. Smith, say something!"
"Since she came, our department's been a mess. If this keeps up, we'll all be divided!"
Everyone looked at Jenny.
But Jenny stayed calm. "Nicole was appointed by the company. Her words represent the company, even if her methods are extreme, her intentions are good."
"Let's not get too worked up. Our company values humane management. Since everyone disagrees, we'll skip phone checks. But follow the rules voluntarily. If I catch anyone, I'll take action!"
I smirked. Jenny seemed to back Nicole but was really helping us.
With a few words, she defused the crisis and sidelined Nicole, distancing herself from the mess.
All the blame fell on Nicole, and the incident was quickly resolved because of Jenny.
"Alright, back to work. This month's workload is heavy, so let's get to it."
Jenny then looked at Nicole. "Nicole, don't make rash decisions. Every employee is valuable. Without them, we can't earn high salaries. Understand?"
Jenny's words shamed Nicole without being rude.
Nicole was speechless and ashamed.
The two were worlds apart. I wondered why Linda let Nicole cause such chaos, hurting herself.
Luckily, it was Nicole. If it were someone more cunning, Jenny and I might be in trouble.
This incident vented everyone's frustration. No one wanted to escalate it. The biggest loser was Nicole.
After this, Nicole would likely be sidelined.
With the video I had, she wouldn't dare try anything sneaky.
Later, I got a message: [Who are you? What do you want?]
I replied: [I don't want anything. I'm just interested in your deal.]
Nicole: [Do you want money? I can give you $30,000, no, $50,000?]
Money?
I smirked. That would expose everything.
If she reported me for extortion, I'd be done. Besides, $30,000, or, $50,000 is nothing to me.
I: [I don't want money! I want you!]
Nicole: [You want to sleep with me?]
I: [You look pretty hot. Bet a lot of guys have had their hands on you, right?]
Nicole: [Why are you being so vulgar? I'll call the cops if you keep this up!]
I wasn't scared of her threats.
I: [Go ahead, call the cops. I found this video online. If I can see it, others can too. It's in HD, very spicy.]
Nicole: [Do you like me? How about we meet? I'll do whatever you want!]
Nicole started to cave.
I: [Tempting, but do you think I'm stupid?]
I replied coldly: [If I meet you, my identity gets exposed.]
Nicole: [I'm willing to sleep with you. Whatever you want, I'll do it. Just delete the video.]
Nicole: [Please, I'll do anything. You should want to sleep with me.]
What a desperate woman.
I sent a suggestive emoji: [That sounds fair. How about you send me some intimate photos first?]
Nicole: [No, what if you leak the photos?]
I: [What's worse, leaking the video or the photos? If I wanted to leak them, I wouldn't have contacted you privately!]
Nicole: [You know my email, you must be from Skyliho Group!]
Within the company's network, everyone's emails are accessible.
I: [No need to be so guarded. I dislike Jenny too!]
To make her trust me, she needed to think I was on her side.
Nicole: [Really?]
I: [Absolutely. Jenny's always so cold, making everyone miserable!]
Nicole: [We should team up.]
I quickly replied: [You're right, we can team up! But first, show me you're serious!]
Nicole: [What do you mean?]
I: [Your sexy photos, of course!]
Nicole: [Why do you need photos? Are you messing with me?]
I: [I'm not playing games. I want to enjoy the photos. Once we team up, I'll delete the video, right?]
Nicole: [But how can I trust you?]
I: [Believe it or not, send the photos or don't. It's up to you. I'm not in a rush.]
I: [Think about it. What would Ms. Smith do if I sent her this video? Or if I sent it to other company leaders? Do you think you could stay in the company?]
Nicole: [Don't send it. Let me think. Give me some time!]
I: [Don't take too long. I'm not very patient, and your distrust is already annoying me!]
After replying, I deleted all the messages.
By the end of the workday, she hadn't replied. I wasn't worried. I had the video saved, so she wouldn't dare do anything.
Lily went to the cafeteria, while I headed to Radisson Blu with Mia.
Same spot as last time, nice and quiet.
Not many people came here for lunch.
So, no one would bother us.
"You seem preoccupied," Mia said. "What's on your mind?"
I poured her a glass of wine. "Don't worry, let's talk while we eat."
Lately, I'd been feeling very calm. The closer I got to the truth, the less anxious I felt.
My inner peace was growing, and if what Paul said was true, I'd make a calm decision, not an impulsive one.
"The more you act like this, the more anxious I get." She took a deep breath. "Tell me, even if it's bad, I'll handle it."
She seemed to sense something. I didn't say anything, just opened the photos and placed them in front of her.
