I set down my teacup and sighed, "It's hard to say. I can't say anything right now."
He scowled, "Don't I deserve a little respect?"
"It's not about respect. I'm just worried you won't sleep if you know," I replied.
In my head, I thought, 'If he didn't have dirt on me, I'd have crushed Skyliho Group by now. And he still has the nerve to team up against WY Media Company!'
"How do you know I'd be scared if you don't tell me?" His eyes were cold.
"Ever heard of the Four from Greenvale City?"
"Is this girl connected to them?" Steven's eyes flickered with uncertainty.
"Yeah, there's a connection, but she's way above them. Even their families wouldn't dare mess with her."
Steven looked shocked, "Does her family have officials?"
"Yep, and top-level ones at that."
I said calmly, "We're friends now. I've even had dinner at her place and met her parents."
"Who are her parents?"
"I can only tell you she's Mrs. Kinsley."
"Mrs. Kinsley?"
Steven's face turned pale. "You mean she's from the Kingsley family?"
I smiled. "Exactly."
Steven's eyes widened in shock. He looked at me suspiciously, "How could she possibly go to a bar with Quinlan? Are you trying to scare me?"
I chuckled, "Mr. Walton, why don't you check it out yourself? You've got the money."
"You said you've been to her house?"
"Yeah, we're on good terms," I said calmly. "Mr. Walton, I've handled things in Greenvale City for you. Let's keep the peace in Sevan City. I can even help restart the Greenvale City branch."
Steven looked uncertain. "How do I know you're telling the truth?"
"Just check it out. Or I can call Quinlan or even Abigail from the Kingsley family right now."
I pulled out my phone and dialed Quinlan. Soon, his voice came through, "Hey John, you back in Sevan City?"
"Mr. Harrison, when are you coming to Sevan City? Let me host you properly!"
"Are there women?"
"Plenty of women!"
"Alright, I'll bring Richard along once I finish up here."
After hanging up, I looked at Steven, whose eyes were full of fear, "So, Mr. Walton, that voice sound familiar?"
"John, do you really know Quinlan?"
"Of course!"
If it weren't for stalling for Katherine, I wouldn't be here showing off.
"If you don't believe me, they'll be here in a couple of days. Why don't you join us?"
Steven's face stiffened, and he forced a smile, "That won't be necessary."
I cursed inwardly, 'what a coward.'
"John, I was wrong last night. I apologize."
Steven smiled and raised his glass again, "You don't need to go to the Greenvale City branch anymore. With Ms. Foster there, you should return to Sevan City and take over her position. How about that?"
I was taken aback. 'Replacing Linda?'
"How can that be? Promoting me rashly will make everyone unhappy."
I grew more suspicious. 'Could Steven really be this generous?'
"Who dares to be unhappy?" Steven laughed. "I have the final say!"
Something felt off.
I repeatedly declined, and the smile on Steven's face gradually disappeared, "Are you looking down on me?"
I smiled and said, "Mr. Walton, no, I don't have the ability to take on the position of vice president. Frequent changes in the company's top management can also make everyone uneasy, so Mr. Walton, you should consider it carefully."
"How about this, you temporarily take over Ms. Foster's role as acting vice president. Once the matters in Greenvale City are settled, you can officially replace Ms. Foster!"
I mulled it over and decided to go along with it. This way, Linda could recover in Greenvale City without Steven catching on.
"Thanks, Mr. Walton!" I said with a smile.
Seeing me agree, Steven grinned and nodded, then called Linda's assistant in, "Gather all the mid-to-senior management; I have an important announcement!"
Soon, everyone was assembled, even the head of marketing.
Katherine, Jenny, Nicole, Lucas, and Lily all stared at me intently.
"Mr. Walton, everyone is here," Ms. Charlotte said respectfully.
Steven glanced around and announced, "Due to John's outstanding performance at the Greenvale City branch, I'm promoting him to acting vice president of Skyliho Group, temporarily taking over Ms. Foster's position!"
Everyone was stunned.
Katherine and Jenny both frowned, looking serious.
Nicole and Lucas looked at me with a mix of envy and admiration, especially Nicole, who gave me a strange look. I wondered if she had been up to something while I was away.
Lily looked completely shocked.
The office buzzed with chatter.
"Mr. Walton, shouldn't this be discussed further?"
"Yeah, John went from a regular marketing specialist to deputy supervisor, then to assistant to the general manager, and then to general manager of the Greenvale City branch. Now he's acting vice president at headquarters. Isn't this a bit too fast?"
Steven stayed calm. "Are you dissatisfied? John earned his position through his own efforts. Who among you can sign a $60 million order in a month? Who among you can save the Greenvale City branch? Only John. If you're not convinced, achieve similar results, and I'll promote you too!"
Everyone exchanged glances but couldn't argue. The dissenting voices faded away.
"It's settled then. Charlotte, you'll temporarily assist John. During this period, John can also select an assistant from within."
After leaving the office, Katherine gave me a subtle look, and I nodded slightly, indicating I would come by later.
Lucas walked over obsequiously, "Congrats, Mr. Cena! Best wishes! Please help me out in the future!"

Finally breaking free from the crowd, Charlotte approached, "Mr. Cena, will you be working in Ms. Foster's office or somewhere else?" She was very deferential and spoke softly.
"No need, I'm just the acting vice president. I'll work in my previous office."
After Charlotte left, I went to Katherine's office.
Katherine walked over. "What exactly did you talk about with Steven? Why did he make you acting vice president?"
I sighed, "Don't worry, let me explain."

Then Katherine said, "If I hadn't asked, were you not planning to tell me?"
