Chapter 411

Hearing that, I let out a sigh of relief. So, our secret was still safe.

"You bitch, you got a death wish or something? Think I can't wipe out your whole family?" Steven sneered, "I can mess with you, but you can't mess with me!"

He strutted over, grabbed Katherine's chin, and forced wine down her throat. "Bitch, your whole family's a bunch of bitches!"

Katherine choked and coughed like crazy.

I was losing it, wishing I could just end this psycho right here and now!

"Drink up, drink it all. When you're done, I'm gonna have my fun, take some pics, and show everyone what a slut you are!"

"I won't."

Katherine fought back with everything she had, glaring at him with pure hatred. "Steven, the more you do this, the more I hate you. You're not even a man!"

That hit a nerve. Steven's face twisted with rage. "Bitch, who you calling not a man?"

Katherine smirked, "You couldn't do it before, and you sure as hell can't now. Must suck being useless, huh?"

Steven was shaking with anger, raising the whip and lashing it across Katherine's body.

"Bitch, I'll beat you up!"

"Steven, stop it."

I couldn't take it anymore and shouted, "If you hurt them, I swear I'll kill you."

Steven whipped me across the face. As he tried to pull it back, I bit down on it, glaring at him. "You're done for, and you don't even know it!"

Steven yelled, "Let go, let go now!"

He stormed over and slapped me hard, over and over. My head and face were throbbing with pain.

"Don't hit him, please!" Amelia cried out.

I shook my head, staring him down. "Hit me, keep hitting. The harder you hit, the worse you'll die."

Steven was always paranoid and stubborn. Now that he wasn't a complete man, he was even worse.

He grabbed my neck. "You still got guts? Think I can't strangle you?"

I felt the air being squeezed out of me, but I didn't flinch. My courage had been forged at sea.

I thought, 'Stay calm, especially now.'

"Strangle me, go ahead. Don't let go. I promise you'll die a horrible death!"

The air in my lungs was almost gone. My brain felt like it was on fire, my eyes bulging, but I kept my head high, looking at him with disdain.

I saw Steven's face change, from rage to confusion, then a flicker of fear.

"Steven, let him go. If you kill him, everything you've worked for is gone!" Katherine said.

"Mr. Walton, let go, now!" Amelia's voice was hoarse.

Just as I was about to black out, Steven let go. Air rushed back into my lungs, and I started coughing violently.

I burst out laughing, the sound echoing in the basement. "Steven, what are you afraid of? Strangle me!"

Steven clenched his fists, looking uncertain. "John, what are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing at your cowardice, your ignorance, your pitifulness, your weakness!"

Steven raised the whip again. "You wanna die that bad?"

"Hit me, keep hitting!" I laughed. "The harder you hit, the worse you'll die."

"Steven, being hunted in Greenvale City wasn't fun, was it? Facing those kinds of people, you must've been scared out of your mind. Think you're safe in Sevan City?"

"What do you know?" Steven asked, his voice shaky.

Even now, his foot injury hadn't fully healed, and he walked with a limp.

"Pissing Quinlan off didn't feel too good, did it?"

His eyes narrowed. "How do you know? Who told you?"

"Day has eyes, night has ears."

I snorted. "Do you know why you're still standing here?"

He squinted. "Spit it out!"

"Because of me!" I shouted.

I locked eyes with him. "Do you even know who that girl you messed with is? Do you know the power behind her? Not just you, even the richest guy in Sevan City would bow to her!"

"You're full of crap!"

Steven gritted his teeth. "John, you trying to scare me?"

"Steven, if I were you, I'd dig deep into that girl's background."

I looked at him coldly. "Or did you already look and find nothing?"

A flicker of surprise crossed his face, but it vanished quickly.

"What are you getting at?" His tone softened a bit.

I sneered. "Now you wanna know? But I don't feel like telling you. If you got the guts, keep hitting me, keep locking me up. When the cops show up, you're done!"

"You called the cops?"

Steven trembled. "How dare you?"

"Let us go now. For the sake of our past friendship, maybe we can still reconcile. Otherwise, you're dead today. The cops might arrest you, but the people you've pissed off can make you disappear in prison. And your family? They won't be spared either."

"You're threatening me?" Steven snapped.

I shrugged. "Go for it. I was stupid to work for you in Greenvale City. I should've let those guys handle you, so we wouldn't be in this mess now."

He stood there, looking all conflicted.

I said, "I just don't get it, why are you doing this to me? Just because I showed up at your place in the middle of the night?"

I tried to come off as someone who knew his weaknesses but was still loyal, to dial down his hostility.

At that moment, Katherine shook her head at me from a distance.

I frowned, thinking, 'If it's not that, then what?'

Steven looked at me. "Why did you come to my house a month ago?"

My heart raced. Did he know about me and Linda?

No, if he knew, he wouldn't have waited until now.

My brain kicked into high gear. "That day, Stella was sick. Ms. Foster knew I had some medical skills from a village doctor, so she asked me to help treat Stella."

"Is it that simple?"

I nodded. "Yeah! Your servants can back me up."

Steven's face was cold. After a long pause, he said, "Then this is a misunderstanding. Now cancel the police report quickly!"

"Okay, let us go."

I said, "Mr. Walton, I don't know why you're holding us. Don't forget, you're a successful businessman. If this gets out, you'll be a suspect. Everything you have will vanish, and even your injury will be hard to recover from."

He got angry, wanting to lash out but holding back.

This showed he still had concerns.

At least he was already intimidated by me.

"Fine, I can let you go, but I have one condition!"

"Name it!"

"You know my weakness now, so I need to know yours!"
