Chapter 67
Edward wanted to book me a presidential suite, but it cost sixty-eight grand a night!
That was too expensive.
He took me to the Royal Entertainment Club, and including the cost of ordering Lucy and taking her out, he has already spent thirty to forty thousand dollars. If we were to sleep in the Presidential Suite, that would be too much.
He didn't insist, and in the end, he gave me a noble suite for eighteen grand for one night, equally luxurious.
Before leaving, he said, "The expenses tonight are on me."
With a friend like that, what more needs to be said?
Inside the noble suite, Lucy took a bath, wrapped in a towel, and walked gracefully.
Watching her stirred my appetite. It was truly a torment.
Sleeping on a large bed that could accommodate seven or eight people, Lucy let out a contented hum. "It's been so long since I've slept on such a soft bed."
"Don't you need to go back home at night?" I asked.
"It's Okay. My brother will take care of things."
Lucy lay on the bed, resting her chin on her hands, saying, "What, are you trying to kick me out?"
"No, it's because you're too beautiful. I'm afraid I won't be able to resist doing something bad."
I chuckled.
"Haven't you already done something?" she asked.
"That doesn't count. That was just a small bad thing. What I want to do is a big bad thing!"
She scoffed, "I won't talk to you anymore. My hands are almost tired from helping you just now. I'm going to sleep first."
She wrapped herself in the blanket and soon closed her eyes.
I thought to myself, once you're on my bed, I won't be able to resist.
I took a shower in a hurry, and when I came out, she was actually making a slight snoring sound.
I couldn't believe she was actually snoring.
Unlike rough men, when such a beautiful lady snored, it just looked adorable no matter how you looked at it.
I couldn't resist and took a photo.
Her profile was simply perfect.
But since she was asleep, I could only go to sleep as well.
Before going to sleep, I switched to my secondary phone. Both women had messaged me, but I was too tired to read them carefully. I replied that I had just finished being busy, tossed my phone aside, and went to sleep.
However, in the middle of the night, I felt a cold body snuggling up to me.
Without hesitation, I pulled her into my arms.
The next morning, when I woke up, Lucy was clinging to me like an octopus. Her bathrobe had slipped off long ago, and my hand...
"Morning!"
Lucy opened her eyes, stretched naturally, then suddenly shrieked and called me a pervert before diving under the covers.
When she emerged, her cheeks were a seductive shade of pink.
But we both tacitly understood and didn't say anything.
The hotel had already sent over the cleaned and pressed clothes. I put on Versace, wore my Longines watch, and with my well-built physique, Lucy couldn't help but exclaim, "Naturally well-built, you have a great body."
"I've ordered breakfast for you, and I have to rush to work," I said.
That's how the adult world was—what seemed wild at night faded by morning, and we were all bound by various rules once again.
"Okay, take care on the way," Lucy said.
Leaving the room, I messaged Edward and George, then hailed a cab straight to the office.
Upon entering the office, I felt many eyes on me, from old colleagues in the marketing department to many unfamiliar female colleagues.
While in the elevator, I coincidentally ran into Grace and Lily!
Morning elevators were always crowded, and everyone squeezed in. But seeing Grace and Lily in the midst of the crowd, I pushed through and pulled them over.
Turning my back, I placed my hands on the elevator wall, protecting them in the middle to avoid any unwanted advances.
Grace's eyes lit up, and she said, "John, what a surprise to see you here!"
Lily furrowed her brows, asking, "John, what are you trying to do?"
"The elevator is too crowded. I couldn't bear to see you both squeezed in," I replied.
"Put your hands down." Lily turned her head and said, "I don't like this."
I didn't listen to her. This woman was inconsistent. I admit our current posture with the two of them was ambiguous, but the protective effect was top-notch.
The men in the elevator cast jealous glances at me.
"Just endure it for a few minutes."
I smiled, and at that moment, Grace exclaimed, "John, are you wearing Versace? And your bag, is that also Versace? Your watch, Longines? When did you become so rich?"
Grace's exclamation drew everyone's attention in the elevator.
I chuckled and said, "Men, you know, need to be kind to themselves once in a while!"
"This isn't just treating yourself well. It's spoiling yourself!"
Grace checked on her phone, saying, "This whole outfit must cost at least thirty to forty grand!"
At that moment, a disdainful voice came from the corner of the elevator. "looks like a knockoff. Versace, Chanel, Hermès are easy to fake. Longines? Please, I'm wearing a Vacheron Constantin."
A man raised his left hand, and a few female colleagues couldn't help but smirk.
His name was Brandon. He was a close friend of Philip's, and like Philip, this guy had a hobby of playing around with female colleagues and clients.
He was quite good-looking.
Grace furrowed her brows, saying, "Brandon, what are you saying?"
"Grace, does what I say concern you?"
He sneered, "Isn't he just a loser who could never afford the real deal?"
"John isn't a loser. He just closed the biggest deal for our company!"
"What deal did he land? That was snatched from Philip!"
Brandon sneered, "Everyone sees it clearly. Who doesn't know? He intercepted it midway. How shameless of him!"
I understood finally—this guy was sticking up for Philip.
"If you have any dignity, just give the deal back to Philip, then maybe I'll respect you a bit more!"
I laughed, "What are you? Why would I need your respect?"
"What did you say?"
Brandon widened his eyes, saying angrily, "Do you have the guts to repeat what you just said?"
I pretended to clean my ears, saying, "I've seen people being pathetic, but I've never seen someone as pathetic as you. Since you want to hear it, I'll say it again."
"I said, Brandon, what are you? I don't need your respect!"
"You..."
"What about me? Do you want to start something?"
I stood at 6'1", muscular, while he was barely 5'7", skinny.
I wouldn't even need a second punch to take him down!
Knowing he couldn't take me on, he resorted to taunting, "John, you're shameless for boldly swiping a deal from a teammate!"
As he spoke, many people's gazes turned towards me, filled with disdain.
He continued, "You're just scum! Lily is also here today. May I ask if you are really allowing your team members to snatch deals from each other?"
All eyes turned to Lily, and Brandon oushed further, "Although this is an internal matter for your team, actions have consequences. I hope Lily can explain this crooked behavior to us and put a stop to it!"
