Chapter 131

She walked out, and I reached out my hand quickly, grabbing her soft hand without waiting for her consent.

"I thought you weren't coming," I whispered. "Luckily, you came."

"I... there was a bit of traffic on the way." she rarely explained, and I was overjoyed.

"Let's go in."

Dressed in black and white, we made a striking pair that day; the man tall and handsome, the woman elegant and poised, exuding grace.

As we walked in, we drew the gaze of many onlookers; men admiring us, women eyeing us with envy, and I felt a sense of satisfaction.

Stepping into the private room, a waiter wheeled a trolley towards us, adorned with chilled champagne on top and a bed of nine hundred and ninety-nine roses below.

"These flowers are for you," I said.

Seeing such a large bunch of flowers, although she still had a calm expression, the joy in her eyes was about to overflow.

"Thank you!" she nodded.

I gestured, and the waiter placed the flowers next to her, then opened the champagne and poured us each a glass.

"Cheers!"

I raised my glass to toast with hers, enjoying the exquisite taste of the champagne that cost seven to eight thousand dollars per bottle.

Shortly after, the waiter departed, and a series of elaborate dishes—appetizers, soups, side dishes, and more—were brought to the table.

If Lily hadn't messaged me on my other account to meet at the Pearl Tower for a date with a loved one, I wouldn't have come. Wasn't it more cost-effective to dine at roadside eateries?

Of course, I could only think about it. Lily had received an aristocratic education since childhood and probably had never eaten at roadside eateries.

After the dishes were served, I discreetly left a generous tip for the waiter.

Although there was some initial awkwardness, I knew it was important to keep the conversation lively to avoid any dull moments that might give the impression of being uninteresting.

I made an effort to bring up topics that I knew she enjoyed, such as fitness, skincare, cosmetics, and luxury items.

With my preparedness, her enthusiasm gradually increased, and she became more talkative. I could sense a connection forming as our conversations allowed me to touch her heart.

After drinking some champagne, her face turned slightly red. "John, what kind of person are you really? Why do you understand me so well?"

I broke out in a cold sweat on my forehead, thinking, 'After chatting with you for so long on my alternate account, how could I not understand?'

"I've said before, I've been paying attention to you, so I know your preferences and habits very well. And, there's a saying called 'our hearts are in sync'; it should be about us.

Her face blushed even more, and she turned her head to look outside. "I used to think that one day, I would come to the Pearl Tower for a date with the person I like."

"Does today count as fulfilling your wish?"

I stood up and took out a box; inside was a platinum necklace from Cartier.

Although this platinum necklace wasn't as expensive as the one I gave to Mary, it still cost over twenty grand.

"Can I help you put it on?"

She didn't say anything. Silence means consent.

I walked behind her, looking at her pure white neck and delicate collarbone. From my angle, I could even see the deep groove, which made me feel a surge of heat.

As I helped her in putting on the necklace, my fingers accidentally brushed against her delicate skin, causing my heart to race. Once the necklace was in place, instead of stepping away, I leaned in close to her ear and softly whispered, "You look stunning today, like you've just walked out of a fairy tale!”

"Thank you for coming tonight. Will you be my girlfriend?"

Her body stiffened slightly, her breathing quickened for a moment, and, most interestingly, her ears turned red.

She was nervous.

"John, I..."

"Trust me, I will treat you well; I won't let you down."

I held her crystal-clear earlobe. She hummed softly, leaning weakly against the chair. "John, don't... don't..."

I slowly changed tactics, kissing her neck. "The hickey I gave you last time has disappeared; today, I'll leave you some new ones!"

"No..." she said weakly.

No use saying no!

I lifted her onto my lap, gazed at her enticing red lips, and leaned in closely, the scent of champagne on my breath heightening my excitement. I eagerly relished the sweetness, and she reciprocated by clutching onto my neck with both hands.

"Will you be my girlfriend? I will treat you well."

She didn't say anything, just passively accepted.

Slowly, she began to respond to me, and it became more and more intense.

I felt increasingly hot all over, thinking, 'Since we're in a private room and the door is locked, with no one coming in, why not...'

But as I reached her breasts with my sly hands, she suddenly snapped out of it and pushed me away, saying, "No, we can't!"

I immediately halted, noticing her innocent eyes, her face flushed red, and her fragrant breath. She was incredibly captivating and alluring.

She breathed slightly. "John, I won't allow you to do this."

I quickly said, "I'm sorry. You're too beautiful, too lovely; I couldn't help myself."

If you say sorry, it's my fault; she'll definitely get angry.

"Lily, will you be my girlfriend? At work, we'll be the same as before, but outside, we'll be in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, okay?"

She hesitated, "This isn't good; it's easy to be found out!"

I scoffed in my mind, 'She's already figured it out, and now her tsundere side is acting up again.'

I wrapped my arms around her slender waist, determined to move forward. Resting my head on her fragrant neck, my breath gently caressed her delicate skin. "I understand your concerns. I promise to respect boundaries at work. I will prioritize you, cherish and support you, and treat you like my princess," I whispered.

Who needs to set rules when you're in love?

Isn't that restricting yourself?

"I... I..."

Noticing her hesitation, I grew impatient and leaned in closer. After a moment of lingering, she felt a bit dizzy from my proximity, and my hand began to wander toward her skirt. She swiftly caught my hand, preventing me from going any further. "John, if you try this again, I will be mad.”

"I just want to protect you, be your rock, okay?" I looked at her earnestly.

She gritted her teeth and said with difficulty, "Okay, but I have a condition!"

"We need to set some ground rules."

Damn, she really said that, so all that talk I just did was in vain.

" Ah, do we really need rules for dating?" I feigned a pitiful expression. "Who sets rules for dating anyway? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of dating?"

"I don't care; if you're dating me, we need ground rules."

Lily snorted, "If you don’t want to, let go now! There are plenty of people willing to set ground rules with me."

How could I let go? I held her even tighter. "Can't let go, can't let go, if I let go, I'll lose my wife!"
