Chapter 84

Lily: [Calling Mighty Tiger!]

Lily: [Mighty Tiger, are you there? I'm feeling so sad!]

These were the messages she sent yesterday after I had scolded her.

Last night, I sent her a message, and she only replied this morning.

I: [Mighty Tiger, good morning, I... I'm feeling a bit upset, but you must be in a good mood.]

Lily smiled and replied: [If you're free later, remember to find me.]

The most recent message was sent an hour ago after I arrived at the company.

Lily: [Mighty Tiger, are you there? I've run into a problem again.]

I smiled and replied: [Sorry, I just finished my work.]

I heard a notification sound, and Lily picked up her phone nearby to reply almost instantly.

Lily pouted and replied: [Ah, Mighty Tiger, you finally have some free time.]

I: [What's wrong? Who made my baby angry again?]

Lily: [Who else? It's that jerk from last time!]

Lily wrote a long passage, portraying me as a complete villain, listing countless misdeeds.

I couldn't help but laugh at her embellished storytelling skills, truly innate.

She accused me of being mean, disrespectful, and insulting!

I just vented my frustrations. How did that turn into insulting her?

She had me under her thumb for a year, and yet she still had the nerve to paint me as the bad guy?

I cursed inwardly, then analyzed her words line by line for deeper meanings.

Soon, I reached to a conclusion. It seemed like this woman subconsciously wanted me to apologize to her and then coax her!

If that was the case, it meant I had begun to find a way into her heart.

There was a saying that love could turn into hate, and hate could turn back into love. It sounded paradoxical, but such feelings did exist.

Like the famous Stockholm Syndrome.

My heart suddenly pounded, and I cautiously asked: [I think I understand what you're saying. Haven't you noticed? It seems like that jerk is becoming more significant to you.]

Lily: [Oh... really? I just feel like I'm starting to dislike him more.]

I: [Do you think about him often? How do you feel every time you do? Don't hold back. You must tell me your true feelings so I can help you understand them.]

Lily: [My mind is full of moments when he is scolding and upsetting me. It's hard to shake off. Of course, I feel very angry and frustrated. That jerk doesn't have a trace of gentlemanly behavior. He just knows how to provoke me.]

I: [Aside from that? Do you have any other feelings?]

Lily: [Other feelings?]

She pondered briefly and replied: [I really want to retaliate against him, but when that thought crosses my mind, I hesitate.]

Finally, I saw what I wanted to see. Her hesitation indicated a shift in her inner world.

Lily: [And, he's been acting oddly toward me lately, giving me an uneasy feeling. I don't even know how to face him now!]

Lily: [Moreover, he's changed a lot recently, completely different from before. I could manipulate him easily before, but now he's beyond my control. He's been promoted, and I feel like he'll soon surpass me.]

At that juncture, her mindset underwent a transformation. She transitioned from feeling in control to feeling overwhelmed. My actions, aimed at exploiting her vulnerabilities, had finally prompted her to reassess me.

In a sense, I had leveled the playing field with her. I had transformed from a regular employee, easily influenced, into a high achiever, even rising to the position of her deputy. This swift change had left her struggling to catch up.

After a moment of reflection, I replied: [Indeed, my guess was correct. Your attitude toward him has fundamentally changed, and his significance in your heart has indeed increased significantly, surpassing that of a regular colleague.]

Lily: [What? Surpassing a regular colleague? Does that mean friends?]

I: [I should say above colleagues, but not quite friends yet.]

Lily: [I see him as a friend?]

I: [If you can't control him, why not try talking to him? Try to win him over to your side. If he's talented, wouldn't you benefit from being associated with him?]

Lily: [I just... I find it hard to accept.]

I: [Silly girl, relationships are never static. Only by timely adjusting your mindset can you find happiness. Think about it. If he can help you, won't your future be much easier?]

Lily: [You make sense. I will try to change my mindset.]

She sent a smiley face.

Lily: [You truly are a master of emotions. After chatting with you, I feel much better. Thank you, Mighty Tiger!]

I: [You're welcome. If you really appreciate me, I'd be grateful if you could introduce me to your friends.]

I mentioned it casually, and to my surprise, she actually recommended someone extraordinary to me.

But that's a story for another time.

Switching to my main account, I decided to take the initiative to reconcile with her.

I opened Lily's chat box.

John: [Ms. Wilson, there have been some misunderstandings between us these past few days. I'd like to apologize to you in person. I'll be waiting for you on the rooftop.]

I sent the message, and Lily's phone vibrated.

As I passed by her, I smiled. She whispered, "What are you up to? Is there something you can't say in the office?"

I didn't say a word and headed straight for the exit. I didn't care if she followed. I waited on the rooftop for a good twenty minutes.

Taking the elevator to the top floor, a wave of heat hit me. I found a shady spot, and the intense heat gradually subsided.

Knowing Lily wouldn't arrive so quickly, I called Edward and George separately to express my gratitude.

These two guys were very understanding, immediately agreeing to rescind the termination of our cooperation.

I thought of Gary. Now that I had connected with him, could I help Edward in some way?

As I pondered, a woman's voice called out, "John, where are you?"

It was Lily!

I checked the time and saw that precisely twenty minutes had passed.

Emerging from the shade, I waved to her. "Ms. Wilson, I'm here."

Lily approached with a stern approached . "What do you want to say?"

"Ms. Wilson, it's quite sunny out there. Let's head inside!"

Gathering my courage, I took her hand and led her indoors when we were alone.

"Let go of me."

She tried to pull her hand away, but I seized a good opportunity. Her willingness to come indicated curiosity about what I had to say. My previous words using an alternate account had already piqued her interest.

I held her hands tightly and said earnestly, "Ms. Wilson, please don't be upset. I've been holding back for a long time and need to tell you something."
