I chuckled and shook my head. This guy's energy was off the charts, sending me videos every night of him hooking up with new people.
It felt like he was either challenging me or just showing off. Switching partners three or four times a day, I was seriously worried he might burn out.
I said, "Looks like Stellar Estates didn't send anyone this time."
Leofric replied, "They got slapped with a $300 million fine. No way they'd show up."
"That bad? How come I didn't hear about it?" I asked, curious.
Leofric grinned. "It got hushed up, but word still got around. Stellar Estates took a major hit."
"So, the price shouldn't be too crazy this time, right?"
"Nope, might even be a bit lower," Leofric said. "The authorities gave them a strict warning against price gouging."
I nodded, feeling a bit more at ease. The auction kicked off soon, starting at $30 million. Since this piece of land was hot property, they required funds to be verified, meaning the money had to be in the account on auction day.
This rule knocked out about 60% of the smaller developers. They usually put down a deposit first, then used the paperwork to get a bank loan, which took forever. With this new rule, it actually worked out great for us.
I exchanged a look with Lauren, and she raised her paddle. "WY Media Company, $78 million!"
In the auction hall, a few people raised their paddles here and there. Once the price hit over $100 million, only three companies were still in the game.
"$110 million!" Lauren raised her paddle again.
"$115 million!" The third time she raised the paddle, the room went quiet.
The auctioneer said, "WY Media Company, $115 million. Any more bids?"
"No more bids?" The auctioneer looked around, a bit helpless. "Going once for $115 million. Going twice for $115 million. Sold to WY Media Company for $115 million."
Sparse applause echoed in the room, and some developers had already started leaving.
We headed to the back, showed the fund verification report, and paid for the land on the spot. We also got all the documents related to the land. I felt a rush of excitement; we finally got the land.
"John, congrats," Leofric said, congratulating me.
I replied, "This time, it's all thanks to your inside info."
"Just doing my part," Leofric said. "You probably don't have the pre-sale permit yet. I can get someone to help with that, should be done in a few days."
"Wouldn't that be too much trouble?"
"No trouble at all. Richard specifically told me to help you out."
I patted his shoulder, feeling really touched. "Thanks, man." With the pre-sale permit, the funds would come back faster.
I said, "This is my first time in real estate. I know Horizon Realty Group has its own construction company. I'd like to give the project to your company, if you're up for it."
Leofric was stunned for a moment, then said happily, "Absolutely!"
"Cool, I'll have the construction plans ready in a few days, and then I'll get in touch with you."
We talked for half an hour, sealing the deal on the spot, and he even promised to provide a construction team for free.
After Leofric left, I shared the news in the executive group chat, and everyone was stoked. WY Media Company had finally filled its last gap.
After chatting with Leofric, Lauren headed off to work, leaving me and Ava at the hotel. After some quality time with Ava, she knelt on the bed and started massaging my head. "John, didn't you say you were going to Sevan City University today?"
I slapped my forehead, realizing I had actually forgotten about it. Kelsey had been nagging me non-stop over the phone, and Mya's messages were full of complaints.
I had been back for a week and hadn't gone to see them, which was pretty messed up. "Let's go, we're heading to Sevan City University."
Half an hour later, our car rolled up to the university gate. At this time, Kelsey was alone in the dorm; everyone else had gone home.
During the holidays, the dorm lady was more chill. I quietly approached the dorm door and knocked. A lazy voice came from inside. "Who is it?"
I didn't respond. After a bit, the door opened, and Kelsey, wearing a white nightgown and looking sleepy, came out.
The moment she saw me, Kelsey's eyes went wide with surprise. She rubbed her eyes. "I must be missing John too much, I'm hallucinating."
Hearing this, I couldn't help but laugh, reaching out to ruffle her hair. "Kelsey, it's really me this time!"
Kelsey let out a surprised squeal and threw herself into my arms. "John, am I dreaming?"
I looked around. "Is there anyone else in the dorm? How about we go inside to talk?"
"No one, it's just me. They all went home." Kelsey quickly pulled me in and locked the door.
The dorm was dimly lit with the curtains drawn, but it was pretty tidy inside. I could see other people's beds with blankets and toys on them. There were even some sexy lingerie. I swallowed hard, various scents filling my nose. To be honest, it wasn't particularly pleasant.
"John, my bed is over here." She led me to a corner where her bed was curtained off, very private.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Kelsey straddled my lap. Before I could say anything, she kissed me. This got me excited. Even though I had just been with Ava, I didn't feel tired at all.
After a while, we stopped kissing, and Kelsey's cheeks were flushed. But I could see she had lost a lot of weight. "Have you been staying in the dorm since you came back from Crystal Nation?"
"Yeah, without you, I don't want to go anywhere." She was already thin, and now she probably didn't even weigh 100 pounds.
I said, "You still need to have a normal social life. I'm busy with work and can't be with you every day."
"I don't want to go anywhere. If I can't see you, nothing interests me." She had said before that she only wanted me in her world. I thought it was just an emotional outburst, but now it seemed true.
I deliberately put on a stern face. "I won't like you if you keep this up. You need to live well and study hard. If you continue like this, you'll fall behind me!"
Kelsey said nervously, "Then I'll work hard to keep up with you!"
"Do you think you can improve by lying in the dorm all day?"
"Then I'll study hard and help out at your company after graduation, okay?" She shook my arm, pleading, "Please, John, don't be mad, okay?"
I wasn't really mad, just trying to scare her. I tapped her nose. "Now get dressed, I'll take you out to eat."
"But I want to stay here with you a bit longer." She held onto me tightly, her scent making my mouth dry. "John, don't leave tonight, okay?"
I sighed. "I won't leave, but you have to listen to me."
"Okay, I'll get dressed right away!"
