Chapter 321 Starhaven Is Not a Place Where He Can Control Everything
After dinner at the Starhaven Hotel, the group of four went their separate ways.
Maximilian had booked a room, but he ended up in Katniss's room.
"Maxmilian, your legs have been bothering you at all these past few days?" Katniss asked.
Maxmilian shook his head. "Nope."
He had been taking the medication Katniss prepared for him, and with her constant care, his legs were no longer a problem.
"That's good," Katniss sighed in relief, a bit surprised that Maximilian had come to Starhaven so quickly.
"Everything settled in Luminous City? Coming straight to Starhaven won't cause any issues, right?"
With Ethan and Scarlett around earlier, she hadn't had the chance to voice her concerns.
Maximilian ruffled her hair with a helpless smile. "No issues. Emilio's got it covered."
Far away in Luminous City, Emilio sneezed.
Uriah glanced at him. "Don't get sick now. I can't handle everything alone."
Emilio adjusted his glasses and looked up from his paperwork. "Stop jinxing me."
Katniss checked Maximilian's legs and gave him a relaxing treatment before they both got ready for bed.
That night, the Manners family in Luminous City was anything but calm.
Oliver insisted on being discharged from the hospital, bought Clara a ticket to Starhaven, and contacted an old friend there to help her.
Only after everything was arranged did Oliver inform Lucas and Dylan.
Both were against Clara leaving Luminous City, but Oliver ignored their objections and took Clara to the airport.
After Clara boarded the plane, Oliver revealed what he had heard about Katniss's actions.
"Katniss did this to Laura? Why didn't you just call the cops?" Dylan asked.
Even Lucas was puzzled. "If Katniss did something like that, why send Clara? How could she possibly stand up to someone as vicious as Katniss?"
Oliver slammed the wooden table, wincing at the pain in his nose. "With Maximilian in Luminous City, do you think calling the cops would help?"
Seeing their expressions change at the mention of Maximilian, Oliver took a deep breath and said, "Starhaven isn't Luminous City! Maximilian can't control everything there. With Johnson's help, Clara will make Katniss pay for what she did!"
Lucas asked, "The Johnson from the Thompson family in Starhaven?"
Dylan was confused. "Johnson? Who's Johnson? I don't know any Johnson."
Oliver snorted. "You don't need to know. Just know that he can deal with Katniss. In Starhaven, Maximilian can't protect her."
Dylan and Lucas exchanged glances and said nothing more.
Clara's flight landed around midnight.
She wanted to contact Desmond but decided against it.
Desmond had called her earlier, but she missed it, and he hadn't called back, which upset her.
Now that she was in Starhaven and had Oliver's support, Clara didn't need Desmond to deal with Katniss.
As she exited the airport, a lean man approached her.
"Are you Clara?" He compared her to a photo before asking.
Clara nodded nervously. "Are you Johnson?"
The lean man replied, "I'm Johnson's driver. He sent me to pick you up."
Clara followed him to the car, feeling uneasy.
The car drove into the city and stopped in front of a villa.
The man led Clara inside, where she met Johnson.
Johnson Thompson was a portly man with a greasy smile. He extended his hand to Clara. "You must be Clara."
Clara felt uncomfortable but forced a smile and approached him.
Johnson pulled Clara into a hug and told the lean man, "Neil, arrange for Clara's school enrollment. I'll take her there myself tomorrow."
Neil nodded and left.
Clara forced a smile. "Johnson, maybe I should stay at a hotel."
Johnson's expression darkened. "Clara, don't you like this villa? I had it prepared just for you. Why would you want to stay at a hotel?"
Clara quickly asked, "This villa is for me? I'll be staying here alone?"
Johnson nodded, holding her tighter. "Of course. You're my friend's daughter, which makes you my daughter. Don't be a stranger."
Clara endured Johnson's embrace for a while before excusing herself to rest.
Once Johnson left, she took a shower, unaware of the faintly glowing red dot in the bathroom.
The next morning at the Starhaven Hotel.
Katniss woke up in Maximilian's arms. After exchanging good mornings, they got ready for their respective tasks.
Katniss was going to a training session with Ethan, while Maximilian had business at the Starhaven branch.
Ethan and Katniss arrived at Starhaven Medical University and met the other thirty-eight students in the designated classroom.
The students had come from all over, most arriving alone. It was rare for a school like Nexus Nova College to have two students accepted.
Two students from Starhaven Medical University took the lead, greeting Katniss and Ethan and asking where they were from.
The group didn't have much time to chat before the mentors arrived.
There were three mentors, all members of the International Medical Association.
The session began with introductions.
Katniss sat quietly next to Ethan, listening to the mentors and noting their names.
When it was the students' turn, the introductions took about half an hour.
Ethan kept his introduction brief, just his name and school.
Katniss also kept it short.
Some students started whispering when they saw Ethan, especially after learning he and Katniss were from the same school. They began to scrutinize Katniss as well.
