Chapter 370 Offended the Unoffendable Person
Clara turned her head and saw Desmond wearing a mask and sunglasses.
Just hearing his voice, she recognized it was Desmond, but she couldn't understand why he was wearing a mask and sunglasses.
"Desmond?" Clara asked, "What's with the mask?"
Desmond nodded before saying, "Sorry, Clara. I had some stuff to handle before, so I couldn't come to see you right away. The mask? It's 'cause I had an allergic reaction on my face."
After hearing Desmond's explanation, Clara clenched her teeth and didn't say anything.
She had thought Desmond had just found out about her situation, but it turned out he had known she had been arrested for a while and only came to see her now.
He said he had other things to deal with. Did those things matter more to him than her?
Thinking about this, Clara felt even more disappointed in Desmond.
Desmond didn't know what Clara was thinking. Seeing her silent, he quickly said, "Clara, don't worry. I'll find a way to get you out of here."
Dylan also chimed in, "Clara, let me think of a way."
Hearing their words, Clara felt a bad premonition and asked, "Aren't you here to get me out now?"
Neither of them responded, and the three fell into silence.
Clara's tears started to fall instantly. She grabbed Dylan's arm anxiously, "Dylan? Say something! You came to help me, right? I don't want to stay here."
Although the police hadn't starved or frozen her, she didn't want to stay here any longer!
She wanted out!
Dylan took a deep breath and tried to calm her down, "Clara, take it easy. Tell me what happened so I can help you."
Although the young officer hadn't said much, after hearing that Clara couldn't be bailed out, both he and Desmond had their suspicions.
Clara must have offended someone she shouldn't have.
Hearing Dylan's words, Clara hesitated for a moment before explaining what she and Johnson had done.
However, in her version, she was just an innocent person deceived by Johnson.
Before Dylan and Desmond could say anything, the young officer came over to urge them.
"It's time for you to leave. It's late, and you can talk more tomorrow."
The two reluctantly looked at Clara for a moment before leaving.
Clara, no longer as agitated as before, leaned against the iron bars and watched their backs as they left.
The night passed, and Katniss saw Ethan during training. She noticed he seemed distracted.
"Ethan? What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Ethan snapped back to reality, shook his head, and focused on the lesson.
When they finished and were about to leave, Katniss still felt Ethan was acting strange, as if something was bothering him.
But Ethan didn't want to talk about it, so she wisely didn't press him.
As they walked out together, they were stopped by two people.
"Ethan, Katniss." It was Stella speaking, her expression gentle and her tone soft, with a smile on her face.
Standing next to her was Alex, whose demeanor was the opposite of Stella's. Alex looked arrogant, his eyes fixed on Ethan with a hostile gaze.
Ethan lazily glanced at them without saying a word.
Katniss returned Stella's smile and asked softly, "Stella, is there something you need?"
Stella smiled kindly again, "It's my birthday tomorrow, and I'd like to invite you both to join the celebration. It's not a big party, just a gathering of some young people."
Although she was speaking to Katniss, her eyes kept drifting towards Ethan.
Katniss noticed her hopeful look and turned to Ethan.
"Not interested," Ethan said casually, pulling Katniss along. "Sophia wants to hang out. Katniss, come with me."
Stella's expression froze at Ethan's words.
After they had walked far away, Alex finally spoke, "Why bother inviting Ethan? He doesn't care at all!"
Last time, they had invited Ethan and Katniss to a welcome party, hoping to get Ethan's attention. But neither of them showed up, completely ignoring the invitation.
Stella had thought using her birthday as an excuse would get them to agree this time, but Ethan seemed to be in a bad mood and didn't give her any face at all!
"Why are you still looking? Ethan is just being arrogant because of his family's status. He looks down on you," Alex sneered, seeing Stella still watching Ethan.
Stella glared at him, "If you can't say anything nice, just shut up."
The atmosphere between them was tense, but they only bickered without a real fight.
Meanwhile, Ethan, who had pulled Katniss away, let go of her after walking a short distance, "Sorry, Katniss. Those two were annoying, so I pulled you away."
Katniss walked beside him, "It's okay. I didn't want to talk to them either."
Stella and Alex were students at Starhaven Medical University.
They acted like they owned the place in front of all the trainees.
Katniss didn't dislike them, but she didn't particularly like them either.
"Alright," Ethan nodded, then asked, "Do you have any plans later? Sophia wants to hang out with you. She and Brynn are already outside."
Katniss shook her head, "No, I'll go meet them."
She guessed Ethan probably had other things to do, so she didn't want to hold him up.
"Okay, I'll have someone take you," he said, reaching for his phone to call a driver, but Katniss stopped him.
Conrad was waiting outside the campus, so there was no need to worry about transportation.
After saying goodbye, Katniss contacted Sophia and found out she and Brynn were at a mall near Starhaven Medical University. She quickly had Conrad drive her there.
"Katniss!"
As soon as she got out of the car, she heard Sophia's voice. She looked up and saw Sophia waving at her, with Brynn smiling beside her.
"I said I'd come find you. Why are you waiting outside?" Katniss walked towards them, smiling.
Sophia blinked and smiled, "We were just shopping near the entrance, so we decided to wait for you. You got here quickly; we only waited a few minutes."
Brynn agreed, "Yeah, we just got here, and you arrived. Let's go inside."
Katniss nodded, feeling relieved to see them in good spirits.
The three of them enjoyed their shopping trip, but inevitably, the conversation turned to Clara.
"Clara deserves it! She tried to frame Ethan, and the police won't let her out easily," Sophia said angrily.
Brynn thought for a moment before saying, "But she might not be held for long."
Katniss nodded, "This time should teach her a lesson."
She had always disliked Clara's behavior, and Clara often caused trouble for her, making her even more resentful.
Now that Clara was arrested, she could finally have some peace.
After a brief discussion about Clara, the three continued shopping.
Meanwhile, Clara, who had been held overnight, saw Ethan.
"Ethan?" Clara's first reaction upon seeing him was joy. "Are you here to get me out?"
