Chapter 482 Both a Warning and a Threat
Soon, the group arrived at the club.
They were led into a private room connected to a luxurious lounge area with all kinds of entertainment facilities.
They were mainly there for dinner, so they decided to order food first.
However, not everyone had arrived yet.
"When's Sophia getting here?" Katniss asked.
They had all come from school, and the club wasn't far from there, taking less than twenty minutes to reach.
But it seemed like it was quite a distance from the Anderson Villa, so Sophia might need some time to get there.
Scarlett waved her phone and said, "Sophia said she's almost here. She told us to go ahead and order, and she'll be here by the time the food arrives."
Hearing this, they went ahead and ordered some dishes.
Meanwhile, Ethan, upon seeing Maximilian, started chatting with him as usual.
Because Maximilian had a good relationship with Brent, Ethan always held a certain respect and admiration for him.
Even though Maximilian wasn't studying medicine, Ethan often found their conversations to be quite enlightening.
At the moment, he was asking Maximilian for advice on various topics.
Maximilian patiently answered Ethan's questions.
Scarlett and Tyler joined Katniss, asking her how her preparations for the final test tomorrow were going.
Katniss was well-prepared.
She smiled calmly, "I'm ready. I'll do my best."
If the test was similar to the previous ones, she felt quite confident about it.
Seeing Katniss's confident smile and remembering her excellent results from the last test, Scarlett and Tyler weren't too worried about her.
They hadn't been chatting for long when the food arrived.
Shortly after, Sophia, who had come from home, finally arrived.
It was rare for this group to get together, and Sophia was the happiest among them.
"Katniss, after your test, are you leaving Starhaven?" Sophia asked as she sat down next to Katniss.
Katniss nodded, "Yeah."
Although she wasn't sure if she would go abroad for training or return to Luminous City, one thing was certain: she wouldn't be staying in Starhaven.
Hearing Katniss's confirmation, Sophia couldn't help but feel a bit down. "Then I won't see you for a long time."
Katniss smiled and reassured her that they would have chances to meet in the future.
Maximilian served Katniss some food, and she smiled at him, serving him some in return.
Seeing Katniss's attention on Maximilian, Sophia didn't say anything more.
After their meal, the group headed out.
Coincidentally, they ran into Alex and his group.
Maximilian and Katniss were walking in front, not paying much attention to the people approaching them.
It wasn't until they were quite close that Alex suddenly called out, "Katniss."
Katniss turned her head and met Alex's gaze, her eyes filled with curiosity. "Alex?"
Although she responded, her tone was distant.
"Katniss, what a coincidence. You guys are here too," Stella said, her eyes lingering on Maximilian for a moment before she managed to look away.
She then noticed Ethan and nodded at him.
As for the others, she didn't know them well and simply ignored them.
"Yeah, we just finished eating and were about to leave," Katniss replied, noticing Stella's admiring look at Maximilian, her tone becoming colder.
She glanced at Alex and Stella's group, realizing it was indeed a coincidence since the people behind Alex were also part of their training group.
However, not everyone was there, as some had already headed to the Amber District that afternoon.
"What a coincidence indeed, Katniss. Who's this?" Alex asked, his tone cheerful, clearly pleased to have run into Katniss.
But his gaze fell on Maximilian with curiosity.
As he asked, Stella also looked at Maximilian.
The others couldn't help but focus on Maximilian as well, given his striking presence.
Katniss noticed their gazes and felt a bit uncomfortable.
"He's my boyfriend."
Her voice was slightly cold but assertive, pulling everyone's attention back to her.
The group was momentarily stunned by Katniss's words.
Alex and the others had different thoughts but remained silent.
Maximilian smiled, "Katniss, shall we go?"
"Yeah, let's go," Katniss nodded, ready to leave with Maximilian.
But before they could take a step, Stella spoke up.
"Wait, Katniss, since you and Ethan are here, why not join us for one last gathering?"
She reluctantly tore her gaze from Maximilian, looking at Katniss and Ethan with what seemed like a sincere invitation.
Alex, confident, also extended the invitation, his expression gentle as he spoke to Katniss.
"Yeah, Katniss, since we're all here, let's have a little get-together."
Maximilian frowned, tightening his grip on Katniss's hand.
Katniss glanced at Maximilian, seeing his frown, and without looking back at Stella and Alex, she firmly declined, "No, we're leaving."
With that, she led Maximilian past Alex and out.
Alex was taken aback by the quick and decisive rejection, and before he could react, Katniss had already walked past him.
He turned to call out to her again but found himself meeting Maximilian's intense gaze, freezing him in place.
Just one look from Maximilian made him feel like he was being stared down by a predator, sending chills down his spine.
In that moment of hesitation, Maximilian and Katniss had already left, followed by Ethan and the others.
Stella's gaze followed Maximilian as he left, but when he turned to look at Alex, she quickly looked away.
Maximilian's gaze was intimidating, both a warning and a threat.
After Katniss and her group had walked away, someone from Alex and Stella's group finally spoke up, "What was that about?"
"Every time, they never show Alex any respect."
Though the voices were low, they were hard to ignore.
"That note Victor posted before, it must be true."
"Yeah, we've been training together for so long, and they've never joined any of our gatherings. Especially Katniss."
