Chapter 505 Malicious Expectations

Even though Clara had promised to bail Ryan out, she felt nothing but disdain and contempt inside.

Ryan had just admitted that the drugs were given to him by Katniss, which essentially meant he acknowledged the drugs were his now.

He probably wouldn't be out for a few years, and if things got worse, he might be stuck inside for over a decade.

The thought of Ryan being locked up filled Clara with joy.

If only Katniss could be implicated and end up in jail too!

Whenever Clara thought of Katniss, she couldn't help but harbor malicious hopes.

"I've told you everything I know!" Ryan gripped the bars tightly, his eyes filled with anxiety. "Clara, you gotta find a way to bail me out!"

Clara, worried that she might not be able to keep up the act much longer, stood up with a look of concern and worry. "Alright, Ryan, just hang tight. I'll figure something out."

Just as she stood up, a police officer came in and told Clara that her time was up.

Ryan wanted to threaten her, but couldn't say anything more. He could only use his eyes to warn Clara to help him, honestly.

Clara pretended to be scared by his look, then followed the officer out with her head down.

Once outside, Clara started crying in front of the police officer.

"I didn't expect, I didn't expect the drugs Ryan had were given by Katniss. I, Katniss, she..." Clara sobbed, wiping her tear-stained face.

The officer quickly reassured her, "Ms. Manners, don't worry. This matter needs to be investigated. We won't convict Katniss based on one person's word."

Clara was deeply dissatisfied upon hearing this.

Ryan had just admitted that the drugs were given by Katniss, yet these officers still needed to investigate! How inefficient!

In her opinion, they should just arrest Katniss immediately and lock her up.

Katniss had been smug in front of her for too long, and Clara desperately wanted to see her downfall.

Whenever she thought about how Katniss was thriving in Luminous City and even doing exceptionally well in Starhaven, Clara couldn't help but feel waves of resentment and jealousy.

Why did Katniss deserve all this?

"Well, that's good."

Despite her overwhelming resentment and jealousy, Clara could only pretend to be relieved in response to the officer's reassurance.

After Clara left the police station, they immediately interrogated Ryan again and sent people to investigate Katniss.

Of course, what they needed most was Katniss's cooperation in the investigation.

While the police were busy with the case, Clara had already returned home.

On her way back, she was informed that she would be leaving for Luminous City today.

Although she had an agreement with Desmond for today, she couldn't leave with them. She had to make sure the Manners family left first before she could follow Desmond's plan.

After all, they were targeting Emma.

Moreover, Ryan's situation wasn't settled yet, and she couldn't just leave without ensuring everything was in place.

Most importantly, she needed to take a risk and meet Emma before leaving.

She had to personally confirm that her compromising photos were destroyed before she could leave with peace of mind.

This might provoke Emma, but Clara couldn't afford to worry about that now.

Once she left Starhaven and returned to Luminous City, even Emma wouldn't be able to control her anymore!

Thinking about all this, Clara took a deep breath and went to find Lucas.

She needed to tell Lucas that Emma had instructed her to lure Desmond to Starhaven, but she had decided to deceive Emma with Desmond.

By informing Lucas in advance, he could be on guard against Emma before they left Starhaven.

"What?" Lucas was shocked by Clara's words, stopping his actions and looking at her.

He had been reviewing the information Dennis had just gathered on Johnson, but Clara's words made him shift his focus immediately.

Compared to Johnson, Emma was far more dangerous.

"Lucas, I didn't want to, but Desmond found out and insisted I cooperate with him. However, he promised to ensure my safety on the plane."

Clara quickly offered some assurances, fearing Lucas wouldn't approve of their plan.

Lucas pondered silently upon hearing this.

Clara couldn't help but regret telling Lucas.

"Desmond said he would have someone deceive Emma's people. Are you sure it's foolproof?" Lucas asked.

"I don't know." Clara shook her head.

She was genuinely uncertain, but she had no other options. After Desmond exposed her, she had no choice but to go along with his plan.

Unless she didn't want to return to Luminous City or marry Desmond.

But Clara couldn't!

Clara not only wanted to return to Luminous City but also wanted to marry Desmond!

"Good thing you told me. I'll help you." Lucas saw her pale face and patted her head. "We'll leave together. Not only will Desmond's people distract Emma's people, but I'll also arrange for additional help."

He had been struggling to find a way to make Johnson pay, and this was a perfect opportunity.

"Lucas, aren't you leaving first?" Clara was touched by his words.

Lucas replied, "We'll leave together. It's not urgent. Don't worry about anything else; leave it to me."

Clara felt much more at ease. "I'll arrange the time with Desmond."

"Alright."

Clara quickly set the time with Desmond for 4 PM, asking him to buy a ticket that would get her to Starhaven before then so she could report to Emma.

She didn't hide her communication with Desmond from Lucas, who took the opportunity to inform Desmond that he would also arrange for additional help.

Desmond had no objections to Lucas's extra layer of security, only reminding them to keep everything confidential and not delay the already scheduled wedding.

It was only then that Clara learned that Oliver had already set the date for her and Desmond's wedding in Luminous City.

The timeline was tight. According to the plan, she would get her marriage certificate with Desmond the day she returned, and the formal wedding would be three days later.

Lucas was aware of all this, too.

After hanging up the phone, Clara felt a bit dazed.

Although she had initiated the call, Lucas and Desmond had taken over the conversation, leaving her feeling like an insignificant pawn.

"Clara?" Lucas handed her the phone. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm going to pack my things." Clara took the phone and told Lucas she was going to pack.

Her mind was a mess, but she remembered one thing. She needed to pack and confirm something with Emma.

After packing, she contacted Emma.

"Ms. Kate, Ryan has already accused Katniss, and Desmond has bought a ticket to come to Starhaven. My photos..."

After her rebirth
