Chapter 441 Drawing Boundaries
Dione never expected Emma to track her down.
When the door to the private room swung open, Dione was being plied with drinks by the guy Violette had called over.
She squinted at the sudden intrusion.
"Who the hell is it?" Violette snapped, annoyed by the interruption.
The man at the door was dressed in a sharp suit, obviously a bodyguard.
Dione and Violette immediately recognized him as just the guy responsible for opening the door.
As they confirmed the bodyguard's identity, he stepped aside, revealing the person behind him.
"Ms. Kate?" Violette stammered, almost biting her tongue in shock.
Emma casually glanced at them, ignoring Violette, and waved a hand in front of her nose with disdain. "Move them to another room."
After giving her orders, Emma walked into the adjacent private room.
Despite feeling a bit tipsy, Dione and Violette didn't dare disobey Emma's people and quickly followed along.
Soon, in the new private room, Dione and Violette found themselves seated across from Emma.
"Ms. Kate, you wanted to see us?" Violette asked with a flattering smile, her voice low.
Emma glanced at the two of them. "Which one of you is Dione?"
Dione's expression changed, but she quickly composed herself and responded, "That's me. Ms. Kate, are you looking for me?"
She asked cautiously while rapidly recalling everything she had done recently.
After going through her memories, she realized she hadn't offended Emma.
For a moment, she was completely clueless.
Violette was also looking at her, subtly signaling with her eyes.
Dione saw it but could only helplessly shake her head.
The two thought they were being discreet, but Emma saw through them.
However, she didn't expose them and instead got straight to the point.
"Are you Desmond's girlfriend?"
Emma asked while scrutinizing Dione.
She had planned to have her people capture Desmond to threaten Maximilian, but Desmond had unexpectedly returned to Luminous City in the blink of an eye.
Emma thought that if she couldn't find Desmond, finding his girlfriend would be just as effective.
Upon hearing this, Dione quickly shook her head. "Ms. Kate, Desmond, and I have already broken up. He's back in Luminous City. How could I possibly be with him?"
Instinctively avoiding trouble, Dione swiftly denied any relationship with Desmond.
As soon as she denied it, she saw Emma's furrowed brow and immediately regretted it.
But fortunately, Emma just sighed lightly and then said, "Call Desmond and tell him to come back to Starhaven."
Dione didn't know what Emma was planning, but she knew that calling Desmond and asking him to return to Starhaven would be impossible.
She quickly tried to persuade Emma in a low voice, "Ms. Kate, if I ask him to come back to Starhaven, he definitely won't."
Before she could finish, Emma's assistant impatiently interrupted her, "Ms. Kate told you to call, so just call. Why are you hesitating?"
Hearing this, Dione didn't dare to test the waters any further.
She took out her phone and dialed Desmond's number.
However, after ringing for a while, Desmond didn't pick up.
Dione felt a slight sense of relief.
Normally, if Desmond dared to ignore her call, she would have already thought of countless ways to torment him.
But now, she just hoped he wouldn't pick up.
The call went unanswered, and Dione let out a heavy sigh of relief.
Just as she was about to tell Emma that she had no relationship with Desmond, Emma suddenly gave her assistant a look.
"Use this phone to call again," the assistant said, handing Dione another phone.
Dione didn't dare show any dissatisfaction.
She took the phone and quickly entered Desmond's number digit by digit, then dialed.
This time, the call was answered after just a few rings.
"Hello?" Desmond's voice came through the phone.
Dione glanced at Emma first.
Emma casually looked at her, prompting her to speak quickly, "Desmond, you need to come back to Starhaven immediately!"
Desmond, surprised that this number was also Dione's, asked, "Dione?"
Dione felt a huge sense of relief at Desmond's attitude.
"Yes, it's me. I told you to come back to Starhaven, did you hear me?"
Dione's tone was as bossy as usual, but with a barely noticeable tremor.
Emma watched Dione with interest, waiting for Desmond's response.
Desmond didn't keep them waiting long and coldly replied, "Dione, I have no obligation to listen to you."
His words hit the mark for Dione, effectively distancing himself from her in front of Emma.
She breathed a sigh of relief and was about to hang up when Emma took the phone from her.
"Desmond, did Maximilian tell you to hide in Luminous City?" Emma's voice was lazy but carried a chill.
Desmond didn't respond immediately, but they could hear him inhale sharply.
Emma wasn't angry; she simply said, "Then make sure you hide well in Luminous City."
After Emma hung up, Desmond felt like he had narrowly escaped death.
He never expected Emma to be with Dione.
Both of them were people he couldn't afford to provoke, especially Emma.
Just thinking about the ruthless actions of Emma's people made Desmond's body ache.
Without hesitation, Desmond hurried back to the Boleyn Villa.
At home, though he didn't have as much freedom as outside, he was indeed much safer.
Emily was pleased to see Desmond home early. "You've become quite responsible."
She didn't hold back her praise, genuinely happy.
Desmond usually didn't like Emily's nagging, but now it felt comforting.
Thinking about Emma's threat, he obediently sat next to Emily and started chatting with her.
When Gabriel came home, he saw them talking.
He hummed at the door.
Hearing Gabriel's deliberate noise, Emily quickly went to greet him. "Gabriel, you're back. Thank you for your hard work."
She was used to playing the role of the considerate wife, excelling in all the little details.
Seeing her, Gabriel's mood improved significantly.
Desmond also stood up.
"Dad." He greeted Gabriel as he approached.
Gabriel hummed, "You haven't been out causing trouble, have you?"
Desmond quickly shook his head.
As soon as he got home, he changed his clothes and took a shower, making sure he didn't smell of alcohol before finding Emily and chatting with her obediently.
