Chapter 391 Want She Die

Just as a chill crept into her heart, Elodie heard Clara's explanation.

"Your body hasn't recovered yet. Once it does, I'll go back with you," Clara said, sounding like she was making a tough decision.

Elodie immediately felt her doubts melt away, her eyes welling up with emotion.

Ever since she woke up to find everyone believing Laura had pushed her, she hadn't been at peace.

She hated Oliver for not only blaming everything on Laura but also for self-righteously implying to the kids that she had brought this upon herself.

Her heart was full of resentment, and all she could think about was returning to Luminous City to make Oliver pay.

When Dylan and the others tried to dissuade her from confronting Oliver, Clara's offer to accompany her back filled her with indescribable gratitude.

But before she could fully savor that feeling, Clara's next words plunged her into an icy abyss, making her vision blur.

"Mom, even if I don't get a kidney transplant, I'll still go back with you!" Clara's voice was firm, but her eyes were slightly red, looking both resolute and pitiful.

"What?" Elodie stammered, repeating, "A kidney transplant?"

She had only heard from Dylan that Clara was sick, never imagining it was serious enough to require a transplant.

A wave of dizziness hit her.

Seeing her reaction, Clara knew things would go more smoothly from here and quickly supported her.

"Mom, don't worry about me. My kidney..."

She trailed off, as if unsure how to continue without causing Elodie more worry.

Elodie couldn't help but hold Clara tightly, her mind in chaos, murmuring, "Clara, what are we going to do now?"

Such a surgery was extremely risky, and she couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of worry.

"Isn't this surgery dangerous?"

Clara saw that Elodie had completely set aside the idea of going back to Luminous City and didn't bring it up again.

Instead, she softly reassured her, "Dylan said there are many doctors here in Starhaven who have successfully performed this surgery, so you don't need to worry, Mom. But while the surgery is manageable, finding a kidney donor seems to be difficult."

Though Clara spoke lightly, Elodie could see through her forced calmness, making her heart ache even more.

Elodie realized that not only was the surgery risky, but there was also the even more challenging issue of finding a donor.

Realizing how hard it was to find a donor, she asked anxiously, "Haven't they found one yet? How long will it take?"

"Lucas and Dylan are both looking for a donor. They should be able to find one, right?"

Seeing Clara's uncertain eyes and hesitant tone, Elodie became even more convinced that finding a donor was difficult.

Clara, noticing Elodie's growing anxiety, clumsily changed the subject. "Mom, if you want to go back to Luminous City, go ahead. But I can't go with you in my current condition and won't be able to help you."

"Let me think about it."

Clara nodded obediently and sat beside her.

Elodie struggled for a long time before finally swallowing her desire to return to Luminous City.

She looked up with determination and said, "Clara, I won't go back to Luminous City for now. Don't worry, I'll stay with you."

"Really, Mom?" Clara's eyes lit up with joy.

"Of course. With something this important happening to you, how could I just leave?"

Clara finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Afraid Elodie might change her mind, Clara casually added, "Mom, don't worry too much. Lucas said Dad is also helping to find a donor, so we should find one soon."

"He's helping too?" Elodie asked quietly.

Clara nodded timidly, not understanding why.

Elodie clapped her hands and cursed, "At least he has some conscience, knowing what's right."

She thought to herself that as long as Oliver didn't go crazy, she would hold off on dealing with him.

Now that she was far away in Starhaven and Oliver was in Luminous City, she needed to focus on getting herself and Clara healthy before going back.

Clara finally felt at ease.

After chatting for a while, Elodie grew tired and fell asleep.

Clara left the room and saw Dylan waiting outside.

"How's Mom? Is she still insisting on going back to Luminous City?"

Clara felt a pang of discomfort at Dylan's question.

But remembering that Dylan was worried about not finding a donor, she set aside her unease and smiled, "Mom's asleep. She said she'll stay with me for treatment first and then think about going back to Luminous City."

Dylan finally relaxed, "As long as it doesn't interfere with your treatment."

Clara was moved to tears, "You're so good to me, Dylan."

After a brief exchange, Dylan went back to work, and Clara returned home.

Since learning she needed a kidney transplant and had been fainting, Clara had calmed down a lot, using her illness to persuade Elodie to stay.

Meanwhile, Desmond's injuries had healed significantly, and he suggested visiting Elodie in the hospital.

Clara had no reason to refuse.

She took Desmond to the hospital, feeling relieved that she had temporarily calmed Elodie's anger towards Oliver.

Elodie was now focused on her recovery in Starhaven.

The whole family was working hard to find a donor for Clara.

Though she wasn't staying in the hospital, she had daily check-ups.

Desmond, knowing about Clara's illness, was even more caring towards her.

But the lack of news about a donor made everyone anxious, even if they didn't say it out loud.

At the hospital, Elodie saw Desmond and Clara together again but said nothing.

Over the past few days, Elodie had been following the doctor's orders for rehabilitation and had recovered significantly.

She would be fully recovered soon.

Far away in Luminous City, Oliver was extremely anxious upon hearing that Elodie had woken up.

Later, when he learned from Dylan that Elodie was staying put to help Clara with her treatment, he breathed a huge sigh of relief.

He didn't want to go to jail.

But he was also worried that if Clara's illness was cured, Elodie might go back on her word and still try to send him to jail.

The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt.

No, he needed to confirm Elodie's attitude in person.

After informing Lucas, he quickly set off for Starhaven.

Upon arriving in Starhaven, Oliver headed straight for Elodie's ward.

"You're awake," Oliver said, putting on a sorrowful expression that seemed genuine.

Elodie's face darkened at the sight of him. "Who let you in?"

Oliver, seeing her attitude, held back his temper and said, "I'm worried about you, so I came to see you."

"Worried about me? Worried if I'm dead or not?"

Elodie's chest heaved with anger, as if all her rage was about to explode.

Oliver, naturally hot-tempered, couldn't hold back any longer and snapped, "I came all this way to see you, don't push it!"

Elodie was momentarily stunned by his outburst, then started crying.

Seeing her cry, Oliver didn't hold back and continued to berate her.

Their argument quickly drew the attention of the hospital staff, including the already overwhelmed Dylan.
