Chapter 329 Can You Take Me to See Her
Ethan gently nudged Sophia away, letting her cling to his arm instead. "Why do you wanna go to Luminous City?"
Sophia replied innocently, "Last time I went to Luminous City, I fainted from heatstroke while shopping with Brynn. Someone saved me. Brynn found that person, and I wanna thank her!"
She waited for Ethan's reaction, but he stayed silent.
Calliope chimed in, "If you wanna thank her, just send a gift. Your health isn't great; you shouldn't be running around."
She was worried about Sophia, especially after hearing that Sophia had nearly died from heatstroke in Luminous City last time. She was even more reluctant to let Sophia go out.
Ethan agreed with Calliope, "Listen to Mom."
Sophia pouted, "But I've already asked Brynn to set up a meeting with my savior. I can't just not go, right?"
She planned to act first and report later.
Calliope smiled and said, "Be good and listen. I'll have someone thank your savior with a generous gift."
Just as Sophia was about to argue, her phone rang. Seeing it was Brynn, she said to the two of them, "It's Brynn. She must have arranged it. I have to go myself."
Before Calliope and Ethan could say anything, Sophia answered the call.
But Brynn said, "Sophia, Katniss isn't in Luminous City right now. We might not be able to meet her."
Sophia didn't expect this outcome, but she could tell Brynn wasn't in a good mood, so she didn't say much and hung up.
Calliope and Ethan were both watching her.
Before Sophia could think of another reason to persuade them, Ethan suddenly asked, "Katniss?"
"Yeah, Brynn said Katniss is the one who saved me in Luminous City," Sophia replied. "But Brynn said she's not there now."
Ethan asked again, "Katniss?"
Sophia was surprised. "Do you know her?"
"Yeah. She came with me to Starhaven for a national training program," Ethan said, not mentioning that he had been selected for an international medical association, only vaguely referring to the training.
Sophia was thrilled, "I can't believe you know her! Can you take me to meet her?"
Calliope was relieved, thinking Sophia wouldn't insist on going to Luminous City anymore.
"Sure, but you gotta come with me to the hospital to see Grandma."
At Ethan's words, both Sophia and Calliope looked uncomfortable.
Before they could say anything, Ethan continued, "Grandma mentioned you at lunch today. She has something to say to you."
"But Dad won't let me see Grandma," Sophia said innocently.
She had wanted to go to the hospital for a long time, but their father wouldn't allow it, so the matter was shelved.
If Ethan hadn't brought it up, no one in the family would have dared to mention it.
"Tomorrow, I'll take you. Don't worry about him," Ethan said, frowning as he headed upstairs.
Sophia quickly followed him, "When will you take me to see Katniss? I prepared a gift for her and want to meet her."
Knowing Katniss was in Starhaven, Sophia was relieved she hadn't gone to Luminous City, or it would have been a wasted trip.
Ethan didn't give her a specific time, only saying he'd ask Katniss first.
Sophia urged him to ask now.
Ethan just went upstairs to grab something and was about to leave.
Calliope saw him coming down and said, "Didn't you say you'd have dinner at home? Your dad will be home soon."
Ethan glanced at her, "Okay, I'll leave after dinner."
Calliope instructed the servants to prepare dinner.
Donovan Anderson arrived home, and dinner was served.
After dinner, Ethan was about to leave when Donovan slammed the table in anger, demanding that he stay at home.
"Why stay at a hotel when we have such a big house? Are you trying to go against me?" Donovan glared at Ethan.
The other two at the table were startled by Donovan's outburst.
Calliope held Sophia's hand.
Ethan stood by the table, ignoring Donovan's anger, and said calmly, "No."
"No? I think you are!" Donovan pointed at Ethan, "You came back to Starhaven without telling us! I only found out because someone saw you! If no one had seen you, would you have even thought about coming home?"
Calliope tried to mediate, "Donovan, calm down. Ethan didn't mean it."
"Then what did he mean? Don't coddle him!" Donovan snapped at Calliope, who fell silent.
Ethan said, "This has nothing to do with Mom. You don't need to be harsh on her."
Calliope stiffened but said nothing, just sighed helplessly.
"You think you're all grown up and don't care about the family anymore? You secretly applied to a school in Luminous City without telling us, and now you don't even come home during breaks! Now that you're finally back, you won't even stay at home?"
Ethan let him rant, showing no expression, as if waiting for him to finish so he could leave. "Are you done?"
Donovan, furious, stood up and raised his hand to hit him. Calliope held him back, preventing a fight.
"Let go of me! Let me teach him a lesson! He doesn't respect me at all!"
Ethan stepped back and said, "If you have the energy to teach me a lesson, you should take care of Grandma."
With that, Ethan turned and left the Anderson Manor.
Donovan was fuming, and Calliope tried to calm him down.
"Why argue with him? If he doesn't like staying at home, let him be. We can afford the hotel."
Though Calliope said this, she was also upset.
Since that incident, Ethan seemed to have distanced himself from them.
"He's deliberately provoking me! I wanted to talk about his marriage! Now I'm so angry I forgot!" Donovan, angry, spoke less harshly.
Calliope perked up, "Marriage? Which family's daughter?"
Donovan snorted, "After messing around in Luminous City for years, which family in Starhaven would want him? Just find some decent girls for him to meet!"
"You should talk to Ethan about this. He won't listen to me."
Sophia, feeling out of place at the dinner table, quietly slipped upstairs.
Once upstairs, she contacted Ethan.
"Dad wants you to go on blind dates, and not just one."
As soon as the call connected, Sophia reported the news to Ethan, her tattling skills well-practiced.
