Chapter 395 Disgusting as Always
Dylan frowned for a moment before finally dialing Katniss's number.
To his surprise, Katniss didn't pick up.
Clara blinked in surprise and asked, "Dylan, should I try calling her?"
Dylan's expression darkened, but he nodded. He suspected Katniss had blocked him.
Clara tried calling Katniss, too, but her call didn't go through either.
After several attempts, Clara said tearfully, "Maybe she's just busy."
"She's doing it on purpose. She blocked us," Dylan said with certainty, his face twisted with disgust and hatred. "She wants Nathan dead!"
Clara was startled, looking frightened. Dylan quickly composed himself and said, "Clara, you're not feeling well. Go home and rest. I'll handle this."
Clara was initially reluctant, but after some coaxing, Dylan managed to send her home.
After checking on Nathan, Dylan went to find Katniss.
But he didn't even get a chance to see her; he was stopped outside.
Katniss had been staying with Maximilian for the past few days, not leaving the house.
After a few peaceful days, Katniss returned to Starhaven Medical University for her training.
Even though she had been resting at home, Maximilian had kept her busy, claiming it was for her safety.
Feeling more secure, she woke up early on the day her training resumed and headed to school.
As soon as Katniss stepped into the classroom, she saw Ethan waving at her.
She sat down next to Ethan, who told her that the test results would be out today.
Before Katniss could comment on how quickly the results were released, the instructor walked into the classroom.
The previously noisy classroom quieted down, and the instructor began to speak.
The test results were out, but instead of scores, it was a pass/fail list. Two-thirds of the students had failed.
Both Katniss and Ethan were on the pass list.
After the instructor read the names, the students started talking again, but were quickly silenced by the instructor's stern command.
The instructor then mentioned that the next test would be the official one, making everyone serious.
He didn't speak for long, just provided the standard results for the previous test and told the students to check their mistakes.
After giving instructions, he left the classroom.
Katniss reviewed her test process, carefully comparing it with the standard results, and decided to go to the library to borrow some books.
"Ethan, I'm going to the library to borrow some books."
After informing Ethan, Katniss got up and left.
As soon as she stepped out of the classroom, she ran into Stella, who was smiling.
"Katniss, where are you headed?"
"To the library."
"That's a coincidence, I'm going to the library too. Shall we go together?"
Katniss didn't refuse, nodding as they walked to the library together.
She didn't expect to see Clara there.
Clara immediately approached Katniss.
"Katniss." Clara noticed Stella beside Katniss, and her expression changed slightly.
Katniss glanced at the people around them who were drawn by Clara's voice, frowned, and ignored Clara, heading to the book borrowing machine.
Stella gave Clara a curious look.
Seeing Katniss ignoring her, Clara's expression darkened, and she called out again, "Katniss!"
The library was quiet, and Clara's voice was like a thunderclap, drawing annoyed looks from those around her.
Katniss stopped and gave Clara a cold look, lowering her voice to warn her, "Shut up and talk outside."
Clara's expression turned even darker, but she didn't speak again.
She watched Katniss borrow a few books and then grabbed two books herself to borrow.
Her purpose was simple: to show off that she was also a student at Starhaven Medical University.
Katniss didn't spare her a glance, taking her borrowed books and leaving the library.
Stella continued to walk with Katniss, occasionally glancing at Clara, intrigued by her.
Katniss stopped by a flower bed outside the library. "Stella, I have some personal matters to discuss with her. I'll catch up with you later."
Stella smiled awkwardly but didn't insist on staying.
As soon as Stella left, Clara couldn't wait to speak.
"Katniss, Mom woke up. If you have any sense of duty, come to the hospital and see her!"
Katniss had just heard the news.
She had been avoiding the Manners family and hadn't kept track of their activities in Starhaven.
"She said herself that I'm not her daughter. Why should I go see her? Who do you think you are?"
Katniss found it amusing.
Even if Elodie woke up, it shouldn't be Clara asking her to visit.
She didn't believe Clara genuinely wanted her to see Elodie.
Clara felt relieved when Katniss refused.
She had done her part by asking.
It was Katniss who didn't want to go.
Clara's request wasn't Elodie's idea or Dylan's suggestion; it was Nathan who had brought it up.
Clara was somewhat unhappy with Nathan's suggestion but didn't say anything at the time, especially since Dylan and Elodie hadn't objected.
Now, hearing Katniss's refusal, she felt at ease.
Katniss didn't care what Clara was thinking.
Seeing that Clara had nothing more to say, she turned to leave.
Clara remembered Nathan's request and quickly grabbed Katniss.
Katniss frowned and shook off Clara's hand, her eyes filled with disgust. "Anything else?"
She couldn't understand how Clara still dared to bother her.
After Ethan had sent Clara away, she thought she would have some peace, but Clara was back to annoy her.
Clara glared at her, recalling Nathan's occasional defense of Katniss, and said angrily, "Forget about Mom. Why haven't you gone to see Nathan? You promised to treat him!"
Katniss sneered, "Clara, are you really that clueless or just pretending? I had conditions."
Clara's expression stiffened because Katniss's condition was to sever ties with the Manners family.
"I've left the Manners family. You need to continue treating Nathan!" Clara knew Katniss wouldn't agree, and that was exactly what she wanted.
She hadn't forgotten the time in Luminous City.
Now, facing Katniss, she wanted a clear refusal.
"Then let me officially inform you, I won't be treating Nathan anymore," Katniss said and walked away.
She had thought that after the unpleasant treatment of Nathan, the Manners family would leave her alone.
But they were as disgusting as ever.
