Chapter 335 Nothing to Talk About with You
Johnson couldn't take Clara's attitude anymore and snapped, "So what if she doesn't drink? We've got other ways!"
Earlier, they had tried to get Katniss to drink a spiked drink, but she didn't fall for it.
Now, they had to come up with a different plan.
Clara looked at him, confused, waiting for him to explain.
With a sly grin, Johnson pulled out a small bottle of perfume and said, "Spray this on yourself, then go talk to Katniss. Make sure she gets a good whiff of it."
Clara hesitated as she took the bottle, worried. "This won't hurt me, will it?"
She didn't fully trust Johnson.
His gaze always made her uneasy.
Johnson scoffed, "Do you want to deal with her or not? I went through a lot to get this. If you don't want to use it, fine, but don't waste my stuff."
Clara quickly responded, "I want to. I'll do it."
Seeing Johnson's expression soften, she asked, "Will this knock her out?"
"Not by itself, but don't worry. I'll have a couple of people help her get another dose of this scent. She'll be out cold," Johnson said, pulling out another bottle.
Clara instinctively took a step back.
Ignoring her reaction, Johnson continued, "Go on. Once she's out, I'll move her to a room. Then you can do whatever you want to embarrass her."
The last part was a huge temptation for Clara.
She glanced warily at the other bottle in Johnson's hand before leaving.
When she saw Katniss heading to the restroom, Clara's heart leaped with excitement.
She found a corner and sprayed the perfume on herself.
The scent was faint, and Clara couldn't detect anything unusual about it, though it did smell odd.
She couldn't help but doubt Johnson's words.
Would this work?
Katniss emerged from the restroom, only to run into Clara again.
Clara not only reeked of a strong perfume but also put on a pitiful expression that Katniss found repulsive.
The hallway was a few meters wide, and Katniss tried to walk around her, but Clara blocked her path.
Clara bit her lip, as if steeling herself, then looked at Katniss and asked, "Do you know why I came to Starhaven?"
Katniss frowned and gave her a cold look. "Not interested."
The nausea she had just managed to suppress returned at the sight of Clara.
Katniss tried to walk past Clara again, but Clara stubbornly spread her arms to block her.
"Get out of my way. You stink," Katniss said, stepping back in disgust.
The perfume on Clara was making her nauseous.
She suspected Clara had sprayed it on purpose to make her sick.
Katniss's guess was closer to the truth than she realized.
Clara's face briefly tightened.
She didn't think the perfume smelled bad, but Johnson's description of its effects made her uneasy.
But she didn't let Katniss leave.
Instead, she stood her ground, looking determined.
"Let's talk privately," Clara said, trying to buy time for Katniss to inhale more of the perfume.
Only then could Johnson's plan to knock her out succeed.
She wanted to teach Katniss a lesson today.
Katniss had humiliated her more than once, and Clara wanted her to pay.
Katniss said coldly. "I have nothing to say to you."
She found the scent on Clara increasingly suspicious.
After speaking, she covered her nose with the back of her hand.
She felt like the scent was clinging to her just from standing near Clara.
She took another step back.
"How can you say that? I came to Starhaven for you," Clara said, softening her voice and looking sorrowful.
Katniss slowed her breathing but didn't respond.
Clara didn't need her to. "I told my father you were the reason he's like this. He believed me and sent me to bring you back."
Clara spoke calmly, with a hint of pride she didn't even notice.
Katniss, however, sensed it.
Covering her nose wasn't helping much, so she coldly looked at Clara. "Oliver thinks you can make me go back?"
They were overconfident.
And Clara's direct admission felt like a challenge.
Clara tried to say more, but Katniss cut her off. "That's enough. Don't bother me again. You make me sick."
With that, she walked past Clara, heading back to the ballroom.
Clara tried to stop her, but Katniss didn't give her a chance.
Clara stumbled and fell to the floor.
Katniss didn't look back, missing Clara's smirk.
The hallway was nearly empty.
Clara sat for a moment, then tried to stand but found her legs weak.
She felt a cold sweat on her back.
Once she was sure Katniss was gone, Clara tried to get up, only to hear a familiar voice. "Did you fall?"
It was Ethan, with a pretty girl beside him, looking curiously at Clara.
Clara stared at Ethan, dazed. "I'm fine."
Despite her words, her position on the floor and pale face suggested otherwise.
Ethan stepped forward to help her up. "Are you hurt?"
"No, I just tripped," Clara said, glancing at the girl beside Ethan and trying to push him away.
Ethan let go of her hand. "Do you need help to the lounge?"
Clara thought for a moment. "Yes, thank you."
She knew Ethan's name but didn't use it.
She had heard it from Tyler, and Ethan probably didn't know hers.
He hadn't asked for it either.
