Chapter 376 Yasmin Is Coming Back

Clara wasn't just talking; she was sobbing now and then.

Crying wasn't enough for her, so she started coughing violently, almost tearing her throat apart.

"Mom, you gotta wake up soon. Clara's been feeling sick lately, and she might not be able to visit you as often."

Clara tried everything she could think of to get a reaction from Elodie, not knowing if any of it would work.

After all the commotion, she staggered out of the room, barely able to stand.

Desmond and Dylan quickly supported her and took her for a check-up.

Meanwhile, Katniss had just finished her class and was sitting in a car heading to Maximilian's company.

"Mrs. Hamilton, there's a traffic jam ahead," Conrad said, sighing as he saw the gridlock. "The traffic in Starhaven is way worse than in Luminous City."

Katniss thought to herself, of course, since there are way more cars in Starhaven than in Luminous City.

"Mrs. Katniss Hamilton, should we ask Mr. Maximilian Hamilton to leave work early to meet you? This road will be jammed for at least an hour," Conrad suggested after they had been stuck for over ten minutes, staring at the sea of taillights ahead.

Katniss considered it but shook her head. "Don't interrupt Maximilian's work. I'm only going to see him because I have to leave Starhaven Medical University for two days for a training exam."

The training had already lasted half a month, and during this period, they had completed excellent projects. But the most important thing was this mid-term exam.

Everyone in the training program took this exam very seriously, as they suspected it would be similar to the final test.

Conrad, hearing that Katniss was leaving Starhaven, quickly asked, "Where are you going?"

He was assigned by Maximilian to protect Katniss, so he needed to know her whereabouts to ensure her safety.

Katniss reassured him, "Just to the Amber District in Starhaven. It's not far, but I probably won't be able to come back during the exam."

Upon hearing it was in the Amber District, Conrad nodded and fell silent.

Katniss, thinking about the exam, couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. The reason for her anxiety was the exam's location in the Amber District.

She had heard that the exam would simulate battlefield rescue.

Although she knew that joining the international medical team would likely mean going to war-torn countries for rescue missions, she hadn't expected them to hint at it so early.

She worried that after this exam, the already small number of participants might dwindle even further.

But Katniss didn't dwell on it too much. She closed her eyes to rest, looking at the congested traffic ahead.

However, she had only closed her eyes for a few minutes when a phone call interrupted her peace.

Seeing Cecilia's name on the caller ID, Katniss smiled and answered the call cheerfully, "Cecilia, what's up?"

During her half-month stay in Starhaven, Cecilia had frequently contacted her.

Every time Cecilia reached out, besides basic concern, she would share a lot of gossip.

Katniss wasn't particularly curious by nature, but with Cecilia's frequent calls, she started to look forward to the gossip.

Sure enough, after asking about Katniss's health and mood, Cecilia began sharing the latest gossip.

Hearing about Yasmin again, and that Yasmin had come to Starhaven, Katniss was surprised.

"Why is she in Starhaven?" Katniss wondered aloud. Maybe it was because Yasmin and Maximilian were a couple in her past life, but Katniss always felt a strange sense of unease when thinking about Yasmin.

This feeling made her pay extra attention to Yasmin's affairs.

Cecilia, half-knowing, replied, "I'm not sure, but it might be business-related. Maybe she heard that the Hamilton family is doing well in Starhaven, and her family wants to expand here, too?"

Cecilia, still a student, didn't know much about the Thorne family's business, so her understanding was limited.

Talking about Yasmin coming to Starhaven, her tone was more envious.

"I'm so jealous of Yasmin. I've never been to Starhaven."

Katniss didn't press further, instead saying, "Come visit Starhaven during your break, and I'll host you."

Cecilia, already curious about Starhaven, quickly agreed, "Just for your offer, even if I can only get a three-day break, I'll come and see!"

Katniss laughed, "You're welcome anytime. You're right, Maximilian is doing well in Starhaven. When you come, I'll cover your food and lodging."

Since accepting that she and Maximilian were truly married, she no longer felt distant from him.

Maximilian also seemed to dislike any separation between them. Though he hadn't said it outright, his actions showed that he believed they were a united couple.

After some playful banter, Cecilia became serious, "By the way, Katniss, Yasmin should already be in Starhaven. If I had known, I would have taken leave to come with her and visit you."

"That's unfortunate. If you came today, I wouldn't be able to accompany you. I have a two-day exam coming up."

Katniss felt a bit uneasy knowing Yasmin was already in Starhaven, but didn't dwell on it. She chatted with Cecilia for a bit longer before hanging up.

Shortly after the call ended, the previously congested road seemed to clear up.

Conrad drove forward until they reached a scene of a severe car accident, muttering, "No wonder it was so jammed. Now we should reach the company in no time."

Katniss said, "Drive carefully, take it slow."

She saw the police cars and the wrecked accident scene on the roadside, feeling a pang of sympathy.

Conrad, always cautious, nodded, "Yes, Mrs. Hamilton."

The car accident was just a brief interlude, but someone involved received a call demanding their return home.

In a noisy bar abroad, a strikingly beautiful woman laughed loudly after hanging up the phone.

"What's got you so happy, Emma Kate?" The bartender pushed a bright red cocktail towards Emma, curious.

Emma, the woman, smiled mischievously, took a sip of the cocktail, and said, "I heard some good news."

"What good news?" Not only the bartender but others nearby leaned in, intrigued.

They all knew Emma well and understood that ordinary news wouldn't make her this happy.

"My brother died in a car accident." Emma finished her drink and added, "Drinks are on me."

The people around were shocked by her first sentence but quickly reacted to the second, congratulating her and sharing her joy.

"Are you going back home? Your family's business in Starhaven will be yours now, right?" Someone familiar with Emma's family situation asked.

Emma smirked, "The Kate family has no one else to turn to, so they have to hand it over to me. My brother was useless, but I'll work harder."

Seeing the shocked faces around her, Emma's red lips curled into a smile. "I'll work harder to bankrupt the Kate family."

With that, she laughed heartily.

After her rebirth
