Chapter 474 Just Delivered

After Ryan left, the manager and his crew slipped out through the back door of the casino.

In the car, the manager dialed a number.

"It's done," he said, with a touch of smugness.

The person on the other end said something, and the manager responded repeatedly, "Absolutely."

After hanging up, the driver who had previously driven Ryan asked the manager, "Is this also the boss's idea?"

"Not exactly. We're just taking advantage of the situation to pin the blame on Ryan. Don't sweat it. Tomorrow, stick to the plan: kidnap the target, and then hand them over to Ryan when the exam time comes."

"Got it." The driver replied promptly and didn't ask further.

They all knew the boss was from the Kate family, and it wasn't their place to discuss or criticize.

If anyone overheard, they could be in big trouble.

Meanwhile, Ryan had no clue he was being set up, nor did he know a trap had been laid for him.

He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when the Kate family decided to go after Katniss.

On the other side, Clara woke up early.

Thinking about how to get back to Luminous City, she didn't feel like going to school and decided to take a day off, just like before.

Emma had assigned two people to follow her, which made her even less inclined to go out.

Moreover, Lucas had said they would discuss returning to Luminous City today, but he left early with Elodie, showing no intention of discussing anything.

She didn't even know what they were up to.

Feeling uneasy, Clara decided to ask Nathan about his thoughts on returning to Luminous City.

She took a deep breath and knocked on Nathan's door.

After a while, Nathan's weak voice came from inside.

"Come in."

Clara opened the door and saw Nathan looking like he had just finished washing up.

His face was pale, and his frail body seemed ready to collapse at any moment.

A gust of wind blew through the door, causing Nathan to sway as if he might fall.

Clara quickly ran over and helped Nathan into the wheelchair by the bathroom door.

"Nathan, are you feeling unwell?" Clara asked with concern.

Nathan weakly shook his head, "No."

His voice was hoarse and feeble.

As Clara pushed the wheelchair out, she casually asked, "Nathan, do you know where Lucas and Mom went?"

Nathan was taken aback and then asked, "Mom and Lucas went out?"

He had been thinking about how to sneak to the hospital without Lucas and Elodie knowing, but now they were out, and Clara was home.

It seemed like the perfect opportunity to take Clara to another hospital.

Clara pouted, "So you don't know either."

Seeing Nathan deep in thought, Clara pondered how to ask him about returning to Luminous City or if he was willing to go with her.

But after thinking for a long time, she couldn't figure out how to bring it up.

While she was feeling frustrated, Nathan suddenly spoke.

"Clara, can you come with me to the hospital?"

"What?" Clara was confused by the sudden change in topic. "Are you feeling unwell, Nathan? Or do you need a check-up?"

"A bit unwell. Clara, please come with me."

Clara couldn't refuse, but she thought Nathan was being troublesome.

However, knowing that Nathan's kidney matched hers, she reluctantly showed some patience.

"Alright, Nathan, I'll go with you to the hospital."

Soon, Clara and Nathan set off.

But Nathan said he wanted to go to a different hospital.

"Not Serenity Health Institute, Nathan? Serenity Health Institute is close, and they know your condition well."

Clara found Nathan's request odd.

Nathan sighed and explained, "We're going to a friend's private hospital. He says it's good."

Clara agreed, feeling it was strange, but didn't ask further.

In the taxi, Nathan suddenly asked Clara how she was feeling today.

Clara didn't understand, thinking she might have overacted last night, and replied, "Nathan, I'm fine."

Nathan nodded and said, "Clara, you should get a check-up too."

Clara immediately understood why she had felt something was off.

Nathan wanted her to get checked? Did he plan to donate his kidney to her?

Clara was thrilled inside but kept her composure.

She showed appropriate confusion and asked, "Is it necessary? Nathan, I just had a check-up at Serenity Health Institute."

She had had a check-up a few days ago because Elodie was worried about her.

This reason was perfect to prompt Nathan to reveal the truth about their matching results being falsified.

Sure enough, Nathan frowned at her words.

He pursed his lips, seemingly deep in thought.

Clara waited quietly, feeling anxious and impatient.

Finally, Nathan spoke.

"Clara, I need to tell you something."

Nathan's voice was low, not wanting others to hear.

Clara leaned closer, showing a hint of confusion and curiosity.

"Clara, the matching results we got before might not be accurate." Nathan sighed in relief after saying this, then continued under Clara's shocked gaze, "Today, we'll redo the matching at my friend's private hospital."

Clara's mouth opened and closed, too shocked to speak.

Nathan sighed again and asked, "Clara, is that okay?"

Clara snapped out of it and nodded, then shook her head, acting, "Nathan, we don't need to. Even if the match is successful, I can't let you donate your kidney. Your health is poor; you can't donate!"

She hadn't known about the previous matching; Desmond had arranged it during her check-up.

So this time, she couldn't just agree.

Clara was engrossed in her act, unaware that a car was following them.

Inside were Lucas and Elodie, with Dennis driving.
