"Alright, let's go with Nathan's plan and discharge him. I'll try to be with him as much as I can."
In the end, Elodie agreed.
Lucas looked at Elodie and, after a moment of hesitation, said, "Thanks, Mom."

At first, Desmond didn't answer her calls.

Desmond's voice sounded tired. "Clara, you called?"
Clara suppressed her frustration and asked with concern, "Desmond, why didn't you answer my calls earlier?"

At that moment, Desmond was sitting across from Gabriel, his phone on speaker.
Without looking at Gabriel, he replied softly, "I wasn't feeling well and didn't have my phone with me. I just saw your calls now."
Clara seemed to believe him and quickly asked with concern, "Not feeling well? Desmond, are you sick?"
Desmond's expression remained unchanged as he glanced at Gabriel, who gave him a look.
Desmond then coughed a few times before saying, "Just a minor illness. I went to the hospital and just got back home."
Clara didn't know how to respond to that.
But the person watching her grew impatient and poked her with a stick.
Clara was startled.
She had been beaten by Emma's people yesterday, and now even the slightest movement from them made her jumpy.
Seeing the person with the stick glaring at her menacingly, Clara gritted her teeth and said, "I'm worried about you. Why don't you come back to Starhaven? I'll stay with you."
Her words were forced and didn't make much sense.
Desmond frowned, and even Gabriel, sitting across from him, looked at the phone in disbelief.
Desmond coughed again, and after finally stopping, he said, "Clara, why don't you come back to Luminous City? I'll send someone to pick you up."
Clara was silent.
The person with the stick handed her a piece of paper coldly.
After reading the information on it, she asked expectantly, "Can you come pick me up? I want to go back to Luminous City, but I'm scared."
Desmond didn't answer immediately.
Clara feared he wouldn't agree and, almost sobbing, said, "Our situation in Luminous City was so bad before. I'm afraid that if I go back, people will gossip about me."
"Alright," Desmond agreed.
Clara quickly asked, "When?"
She didn't want to be watched by Emma's people anymore.
Even though she could go out into the yard, she was always followed, which was unbearable.
Desmond didn't give Clara a specific time, only saying, "I'm coming to get you to marry you. You don't want me to come unprepared, do you?"
Clara nodded in a daze.
After the call ended, Clara didn't get a specific date for Desmond's arrival.
Instead, she was stared at angrily by the two people watching her.
"Ms. Manners, aren't you going to ask for the time? Do you want to keep being followed by us?"
Clara felt miserable but couldn't show it.
She shook her head and said, "I didn't mean that. Desmond didn't say, and I probably wouldn't get an answer if I asked."
Knowing that Desmond agreed to come to Starhaven to pick her up, Clara immediately told the people watching her to inform Emma.
She also requested permission to visit Ryan.
Emma didn't make things difficult for her.
She allowed her people to follow Clara from a distance, giving Clara some freedom, hoping to cooperate in capturing Desmond when he arrived in Starhaven.
After getting permission, Clara quickly contacted Ryan.
A police officer answered the call, and Clara got the address and headed to the police station.
Although Emma's people followed her and temporarily took her phone to prevent her from revealing anything to Desmond, Clara didn't feel inconvenienced.
She planned to visit Ryan first, then go to the hospital to check on Nathan's discharge to Luminous City.
Even though Desmond would likely be detained by Emma when he came to Starhaven, Clara would be free by then.
Once she was free, she could return to Luminous City.
She not only wanted to return to Luminous City but also wanted to bring Nathan back.
After all, without a suitable kidney donor, Nathan's potentially matching kidney could save her.

Clara arrived at the police station before noon.
