Chapter 445 Unlucky

Dione looked at Clara with a smug grin, her hand covering her mouth as she feigned surprise. "Well, Ms. Manners, what's with the sudden outburst?"

Clara shot her a fierce glare, struggling desperately, but her hands and feet were quickly tied up.

She regretted it deeply now.

She should never have gotten into that car when that person first asked her.

She had thought it was Ryan who had kidnapped Katniss and wanted her to see, but she never expected that the seemingly unreliable person was working for Dione.

She thought to herself, she was really out of luck.

Dione grabbed Clara's chin, watching her get tied up and gagged, and said with a smile, "Don't give me that look. I'm pretty chill and won't hurt you, but the person you're about to meet might not be so nice."

Clara was filled with immense unease, but she couldn't break free from the restraints.

She could only shake her head and nod frantically at Dione.

Dione, feeling a bit better, removed the cloth from Clara's mouth.

"Ms. Saunders, please, who wants to see me?"

She had learned her lesson and didn't dare to disrespect Dione anymore.

Dione replied casually, "You'll know when you get there. Here's a piece of advice: take this time to think about Desmond."

Clara was shocked.

She had been guessing that it might be someone from the Anderson family who wanted to capture her because she had previously messed with Ethan, and the Anderson family had finally decided to teach her a lesson.

But Dione's words made her realize she had been wrong.

After all, her only connection with Dione was Desmond.

Dione wouldn't come after her for anything other than Desmond.

But Desmond had already returned to Luminous City.

How could she still be implicated by him?

She wanted to ask Dione more, but seeing Dione's impatient side profile, she held back.

Following Dione's advice, she began to recall her entanglements with Desmond.

Soon, she was dragged into a room by Dione's people, and before that, her mouth was gagged again.

She was carelessly thrown to the ground while Dione was fawningly talking to a woman.

The woman responded casually and then asked, "Is this the girl Desmond likes? Can she get him back to Starhaven?"

Dione quickly replied, "Yes, it's her. Desmond cared about her before."

Clara, utterly confused, looked up at Emma.

She didn't know Emma, but seeing Dione's attitude towards her, she knew Emma's status was extraordinary.

She made a few muffled sounds, indicating she had something to say.

However, no one cared about what she wanted to say.

Emma immediately ordered, "Have her call Desmond and get him back to Starhaven."

Without Desmond, who could be used to control Maximilian, Emma felt uneasy.

Moreover, Maximilian had been completely ignoring her, making her even more determined to bring Desmond back.

Clara's gag was removed.

A phone was placed next to her ear, already dialing.

She ignored the phone and spoke to Emma, "Miss, Desmond doesn't like me anymore. Even if I call him, he won't come back."

Clara said this, hoping Emma would let her go, but Emma frowned and looked at Dione. "What does she mean?"

Dione shivered and quickly said, "She's just talking nonsense! Ms. Kate, Desmond likes her! You'll see once the call goes through."

However, the phone rang for a long time without being answered.

Clara insisted, "Ms. Kate, I'm not the one Desmond likes. But Ms. Saunders used to date Desmond."

As soon as she said this, Dione kicked her.

"Stop making things up! My relationship with him was purely mutual use! Weren't you the one always hanging out with him?"

Dione had never mentioned Clara and Desmond's constant companionship, but since she needed to use Desmond as a shield, she had investigated him.

So, she was well aware of the past between Desmond and Clara.

Clara was shocked, her eyelids twitching.

Emma looked at her and asked, "Call Desmond and get him back."

As soon as Emma spoke, someone suddenly untied the ropes on Clara, but she didn't even dare to take out her phone.

Although Desmond hadn't answered her calls before, what if he answered now? What would she do then?

As she was thinking about how to muddle through this, her phone suddenly rang.

Clara instinctively wanted to hang up, but someone grabbed her phone first.

When she saw the caller ID, she felt dizzy.

It was Desmond calling.

The call was answered by someone next to her and placed in front of Clara.

Surrounded by intimidating people, Clara could only tremble as she spoke, "Hello?"

"Clara," Desmond's voice came through. "Clara, I'm sorry I didn't answer your calls before."

Clara panicked and said, "It's fine if you didn't answer. We don't have any relationship anymore."

Desmond paused and asked, "Clara, don't you like me anymore? But I've always..."

"I don't like you! I'm busy, gotta go." Clara quickly interrupted him.

She was terrified Desmond would say more and tried to hint to him to hang up.

Desmond, however, didn't get the hint and said, "Clara, if you're upset about me going back to Luminous City, I can explain."

Clara didn't want to listen, but someone covered her mouth.

She was forced to listen as Desmond continued.

"I went back to Luminous City to get my dad's approval for our marriage. Now, he has agreed. If you say yes, we can be together officially."

After Desmond said this, Clara was drenched in sweat.

She looked at Emma in horror, but Emma was smiling with satisfaction.

Emma mouthed to Clara, "Get him back to Starhaven."

Someone pressed a sharp knife to Clara's face when she didn't speak.

Terrified, Clara steadied her voice and said, "Desmond, we can get married, but can you come back to Starhaven to be with me?"

She didn't know why Emma wanted Desmond back in Starhaven, but between Desmond's safety and her face, she chose to protect her face.

Emma smiled, pleased with her compliance.

After Clara spoke, there was silence on the other end, everyone waiting for Desmond's response.

After her rebirth
