Chapter 333 Then I Have to Keep an Eye on You
Ethan had just finished getting ready for bed at the Starhaven Hotel when there was a sudden knock at the door.
The knocking was irregular and annoying.
Already in a bad mood, Ethan got up and opened the door to find Tyler standing there, looking equally displeased.
"What do you want?" Ethan snapped.
Tyler handed him a gift box. "Brought you something."
Ethan glanced at the box in his hand, not even interested in opening it. He frowned and started to close the door.
But Tyler blocked the doorway. "Wait, I saw a woman at the front desk asking for your room number. She was pretty. Who is she?"
He was just making conversation. He had just finished a gathering with friends and was dropping by to give Ethan a gift. He happened to overhear Clara at the front desk.
When Clara mentioned Ethan's room number, Tyler slowed down to listen more closely.
He knew Ethan's room number well because this hotel was co-owned by his family and the Anderson family, with his family managing it.
Ethan's room was always reserved for him.
"Just someone I don't know well," Ethan replied dismissively, trying to close the door again.
Tyler didn't press further but held the door open. "I heard Alex was talking about you. You didn't go to their welcome party."
"Let them talk," Ethan said indifferently. He barely remembered Alex, and if Tyler hadn't mentioned him, he might have asked who Alex was.
"Yeah, let him talk. But I'm hosting a get-together tomorrow. You have to come."
Ethan coldly refused, "I'm busy tomorrow. No time."
"What about the day after?" Tyler persisted.
"Are you that free?" Ethan was getting annoyed.
Being disturbed now would affect his energy tomorrow, and he was already irritated.
Tyler immediately interpreted. "Not free, not free. But you're back in Starhaven. We should hang out."
Ethan gave him a strange look and finally said, "I'll see."
Tyler's face lit up. "So, the day after tomorrow? It's a date. You have to come."
With that, Tyler left without further bothering Ethan.
Downstairs, Clara hesitated about whether to go thank Ethan.
More importantly, she wanted to meet him.
Despite his cold demeanor, he seemed like a better person to get close to than Desmond.
Oliver had brought her to Starhaven, expecting Johnson's help and Desmond's full attention.
But Johnson had ulterior motives, and Desmond was distracted.
Now, she was almost alone.
Before she could decide, a voice behind her said, "Is that you?"
She turned to see a stranger and asked, "Do you know me?"
Tyler smiled politely. "I'm Ethan's friend. You just asked for his room number, right?"
He had only overheard Clara asking for the room number and the front desk giving her something, but he didn't see what it was.
Even though Ethan said he didn't know Clara well, Tyler didn't believe him.
Clara repeated the name in her mind and then bit her lip, looking at Tyler. "Is he asleep? I want to thank him, but don't want to disturb him."
Tyler looked at her and said regretfully, "Yeah, he's out cold. I wouldn't recommend waking him up now."
Seeing Clara's disappointment, he added, "But hey, we can exchange numbers. We're having a get-together the day after tomorrow. Want to come?"
Clara was surprised but agreed, exchanging contact information with Tyler.
Under the night sky, Clara returned to the villa Johnson had prepared for her.
Johnson was already gone, but Clara still felt uneasy.
The next day was a relaxed weekend for most people.
Maximilian was busy, and Katniss, worried about him, accompanied him to the office.
She didn't stay long before getting a call from Ethan.
At noon, Katniss met Ethan outside Maximilian's office.
Ethan had a young girl with him.
The girl, seeing Katniss, ran up excitedly to introduce herself before Ethan could speak.
Katniss learned that this was Sophia, someone she had saved in Luminous City, and Ethan's sister.
"What a coincidence," Katniss said after Sophia thanked her multiple times and gave her a gift.
Sophia's gift was placed beside her, and Ethan added, "It is. Thanks for helping her out back then."
They didn't talk long before Katniss mentioned she had to go.
Sophia, reluctant to leave, exchanged contact information with Katniss.
Ethan then took Sophia away.
Upstairs, Maximilian asked, "What did Ethan want? Aren't you supposed to be resting on weekends?"
Katniss shook her head. "It wasn't about work. Ethan's sister came to thank me."
She placed the gift in front of Maximilian and briefly explained how she had saved Sophia in Luminous City.
Maximilian understood and didn't ask further.
"There's a bidding event tonight. Will you come with me?" Maximilian asked.
Katniss looked at him and asked, "Can you skip it?"
Maximilian hesitated before saying, "No."
He was in Starhaven partly for Katniss and partly for business expansion.
Tonight's event was a good networking opportunity, and he didn't want to miss it.
"Then I'll have to keep an eye on you. Your injury isn't healed yet. I'll change your bandage before we leave," Katniss said, checking the medical supplies in Maximilian's office.
If anything was missing, she'd need to get it before then.
Maximilian chuckled, knowing Katniss had agreed.
"Then you better keep a close eye on me," he said behind her.
Katniss, focused on the medical supplies, didn't turn around.
They had grown accustomed to this comfortable way of interacting, becoming more in sync.
After arranging for their outfits, Maximilian returned to work.
Before the end of the day, Katniss changed Maximilian's bandage, ensuring his wound was healing before wrapping it up.
They changed into the outfits their assistant brought and headed to the event.
