Chapter 392 How Could It Be Her

As soon as Dylan arrived, he heard Oliver's angry shouting.

"Dad!" he quickly interrupted Oliver's tirade.

Oliver, startled by Dylan's shout, realized the ward door was open, and there were several curious onlookers outside.

His expression darkened even more.

"What are you looking at?" Oliver snapped, his face fierce and intimidating.

The crowd quickly dispersed, leaving only Dylan.

Dylan hurried into the room and closed the door behind him.

Without saying much to Oliver, he rushed to check on Elodie.

Elodie was silently crying, but her gaze towards Oliver was filled with hatred.

"Mom, are you okay?" Dylan asked with concern.

Before Elodie could respond, Oliver interjected, "What could be wrong with her? She was just yelling at me with full force!"

"Oliver, after everything you've done, you think I can't yell at you?" Elodie retorted, not holding back now that the others had left.

Her face was still wet with tears, and she pointed at Oliver, her face turning red with anger.

Oliver wasn't about to let her insult him without a fight, and he shouted back at her, word for word.

The two stood a few steps apart, but it was clear they were like enemies meeting on a battlefield.

Seeing their state, Dylan felt his head throbbing.

"Dad! Mom! Please stop arguing!" he tried to intervene.

But his voice was drowned out by their shouting, completely ignored.

He resorted to a clumsy method, covering Oliver's mouth.

Oliver, suddenly silenced by Dylan's hand, glared at him with wide eyes and angrily swatted his hand away. "Why are you covering my mouth?"

"Dad, please calm down."

Elodie let out a bitter laugh, her eyes flashing with hatred, "Calm him down? He'd love to push me again and make sure I never wake up!"

"Elodie, what are you talking about? You're the one who wants to push me and make sure I never wake up! If it weren't for Clara needing treatment, you, you..."

Seeing Oliver nearly out of breath, Dylan quickly patted him, trying to soothe him, "Dad, please don't say anything."

As Oliver struggled to calm down, Dylan turned to Elodie, "Mom, please don't say anything either. You need to rest."

He was genuinely afraid they would continue to argue.

Fortunately, despite their complete lack of respect for each other, they still cared somewhat about Dylan's words and stopped talking.

Dylan, worried they might start fighting again, comforted Elodie briefly before pulling the still-angry Oliver out of the room.

"Dad, why did you come to Starhaven without telling me?"

Oliver, dragged out of the room, gave Dylan a sour look and asked, "Didn't Lucas tell you?"

Before leaving Luminous City, Oliver had specifically told Lucas about his trip to Starhaven.

Lucas should have informed Dylan.

Dylan slapped his forehead, suddenly remembering that Lucas had indeed called him and mentioned Oliver.

But he had been too busy to pay attention.

He hadn't expected Oliver to arrive in Starhaven so quickly.

"I forgot," Dylan admitted, then asked, "Dad, did you come to Starhaven just to argue with Mom? She just woke up and hasn't fully recovered. She can't handle the stress."

After Elodie woke up, they all knew it was Oliver who had pushed her.

It was impossible not to resent Oliver.

Even though they had stopped Elodie from confronting Oliver immediately, they all knew it was Oliver's fault.

"Is that how you see me?" Oliver asked, displeased. "I came to see if she meant to stay quiet. Why are you so worried?"

Dylan replied, "Mom already said she wouldn't confront you until Clara's treatment is done. You shouldn't have come to Starhaven."

Oliver's presence in Starhaven would only agitate Elodie.

Without waiting for Oliver's response, Dylan continued, "I'll buy you a ticket back and send you home."

Oliver immediately refused, "I have other things to do. You don't need to worry about me."

He had come to Starhaven mainly to check if Elodie truly intended not to accuse him, but he also had other matters to confirm.

Dylan didn't want Oliver roaming around Starhaven, but he was too busy to keep an eye on him and had to let him be.

"Dad, you can stay in Starhaven, but you can't upset Mom anymore." They had managed to calm Elodie down using Clara's illness, and he didn't want any accidents.

Oliver glared at him, "You think I want to see her?"

If he weren't worried about whether Elodie truly intended not to hold him accountable for pushing her, he wouldn't have bothered to visit the hospital.

Hearing this, Dylan decided not to interfere further and went back to his work.

Once outside the hospital, Oliver tried to contact Johnson but found the phone unreachable.

He had learned in Luminous City that Johnson and Clara had offended the Anderson family, and it was mainly Johnson's doing.

Unable to reach Johnson, Oliver decided to find Clara.

Meanwhile, Katniss, after spending a day with Maximilian, urged him to go to the office.

But as soon as Maximilian left, she went out to buy some things and unexpectedly ran into someone.

"Ms. Manners."

The person looked Katniss up and down, their gaze unfriendly.

"Ms. Kate?" Katniss had only met Emma once, but she remembered her well.

Emma's gaze towards Maximilian was too similar to Yasmin's, making Katniss almost certain Emma had the same feelings for Maximilian.

Emma gave a faint smile, but her eyes remained cold. "I didn't expect Ms. Manners to remember me. Did Mr. Hamilton mention me?"

Katniss frowned, "No."

Maximilian wouldn't have mentioned Emma unless she had asked about her.

Besides, Emma's brother's funeral had been two days ago.

If Emma hadn't suddenly confronted her, she would have forgotten about Emma.

"He didn't mention me? No matter." Emma continued, her brow furrowed, "I want to get to know Ms. Manners. Can we talk?"

Katniss glanced at her, responding coolly, "Now's not a good time. I have things to do."

"It won't take much of your time." Emma's displeasure was evident, and without waiting for Katniss's response, she clapped her hands twice and turned towards a nearby car.

Katniss felt a surge of unease as two bodyguards stepped out of the car.

The bodyguards didn't act immediately but politely looked at Katniss, "Please."

Katniss frowned deeply but followed Emma.

Emma had come prepared, but it seemed she didn't intend to harm her.

Meeting her might be worthwhile.

Still, she hoped Conrad would notice she was being stopped.

She hadn't forgotten to bring Conrad while shopping, but she hadn't expected to be confronted while he was fetching something.

Though Emma hadn't openly kidnapped her, if she refused, Emma might have her forcibly taken.

She had promised Maximilian to protect herself at all times, and she knew complying with Emma was the right move.

Once in the car, Katniss kept a cold expression, refusing to speak.

Emma wanted to talk, but Katniss had no interest in engaging with her.

After her rebirth
