Chapter 476 Truly a Good Tactic

Lucas brought Elodie to the detention center.

After waiting for a while, Elodie finally saw Dylan.

Dylan looked way more worn out than before, like he had no energy left.

"Dylan," The moment Elodie saw him, she couldn't help but tear up.

Dylan noticed Elodie outside and tried to muster some energy to comfort her, "Mom, I'm okay."

Elodie couldn't believe him.

Seeing Dylan so drained, she felt a surge of anger and immediately started cursing Katniss.

"How can you be okay? It's all Katniss's fault you're like this."

Dylan didn't argue.

Deep down, he almost agreed with Elodie's assessment.

He was in this mess because of Katniss.

If Katniss had kept her promise to treat Nathan, if she hadn't ignored Clara's illness, Dylan would never have asked Victor to post that paper.

He never expected that a single piece of paper, filled with nothing but the truth, would be labeled as slander.

Katniss had some tricks up her sleeve.

Thinking about how Katniss had caused all this, Dylan clenched his teeth so hard he could taste blood, and his eyes darkened with anger.

He quickly lowered his head to avoid worrying Elodie.

Seeing Dylan's bowed head, Elodie thought he was sad and depressed, and her heart ached even more.

"Lucas is outside, Dylan, don't worry. Lucas will find a way to help you! You'll be out soon!"

Elodie knew that even if Dylan wasn't bailed out, he would only be held for about ten days.

But how could they let Dylan suffer for ten days?

No matter what, they had to get Dylan out as soon as possible.

Dylan managed a rare smile, "I know."

He knew Lucas was doing his best.

Lucas had visited him yesterday, and although he hadn't found a way to bail him out yet, Dylan understood the situation.

Even though he told his family it was just a few days and he didn't mind, he didn't want to stay any longer.

No one likes being deprived of their freedom.

They hadn't talked much when Lucas came in.

He walked up behind Elodie, looking at Dylan sitting across from her.

His expression was calm, but Dylan could see a hint of frustration in his steps.

It seemed Lucas hadn't found a solution.

Dylan understood the outcome and forced a smile, "Lucas."

Hearing Dylan call out to Lucas, Elodie realized Lucas had arrived.

She quickly turned around, her eyes full of hope and excitement, "Lucas, can he be bailed out?"

Lucas shook his head.

Elodie was stunned, her eyes widening as she pressed for an explanation, "Why? Why can't he be bailed out?"

Lucas sighed, "The police won't say who's putting the pressure on, so I came to ask Dylan again."

"Maybe they don't know," Lucas recalled the officers he had questioned earlier. Their emotions seemed genuine.

Elodie stood there, in shock.

Lucas, worried she might get more upset, sighed and said, "Mom, let me help you out to rest for a bit. I'll talk to Dylan."

His tone was gentle, showing great concern for Elodie's feelings and health.

But Elodie shook her head, "I'm fine. I'll stay here. You two talk."

She stepped aside, allowing Lucas to face Dylan directly.

Dylan, seeing Elodie's distracted state, felt worried too.

Before he could comfort her, Elodie suddenly muttered, "Katniss denies putting the pressure on, and you believe her, Lucas?"

Her first sentence was in a normal, low voice, but the second one suddenly rose in volume, sounding sharp and accusatory.

She stared at Lucas, not wanting to miss any of his expressions.

Facing Elodie's sharp gaze, Lucas only frowned slightly, "It probably isn't her."

His tone was calm, his expression meticulous.

Elodie suddenly became agitated, "How can it not be her? I bet it is! She wants to destroy our family!"

"Mom!" Dylan called from behind Elodie.

He couldn't see her face, but her body language showed she was upset and not in a good state.

Elodie snapped out of it a bit at Dylan's call, but thinking of Katniss, she erupted in another fit of anger.

She cursed viciously, her expression twisted with hatred, though there were only two people present to witness it.

Dylan called out to her several times, but she didn't hear him.

Lucas also tried to calm her down, but she seemed possessed, her body trembling as she cursed.

Finally, she clutched her head, covering her ears and screaming.

Elodie felt a sharp pain in her head, as if it were splitting open.

She held her head tightly, trying to suppress the pain, but it was futile.

The noise in her head grew louder and more chaotic.

She covered her ears, but it didn't help.

The overwhelming noise made her dizzy and nauseous, her limbs trembling uncontrollably.

Lucas saw that Elodie was having a breakdown, likely triggered by her thoughts.

Seeing her about to collapse, he quickly supported her and gave her some medication.

This wasn't the first time Elodie had acted like this.

Lucas had been scared by her before and had since prepared medication for her.

After taking the medicine, Elodie's condition improved, but she still mumbled incoherently.

Lucas and Dylan couldn't make out her words, but they knew she was probably cursing Katniss.

At this point, they couldn't help but hate Katniss.

And seeing Elodie ruin her health over Katniss was painful for them.

"I'll handle this, Mom. Don't worry. Katniss won't get away with this," Lucas promised, fearing another outburst from Elodie.

Elodie, supported by Lucas, felt the noise in her ears lessen after taking the pill.

Hearing Lucas's promise, she weakly grabbed his shirt, "Yes! Katniss has kept Dylan locked up for so long. You have to make her pay! Make her regret it!"

Elodie's voice was faint, but her hatred and malice towards Katniss were strong and clear.

After her rebirth
