Chapter 486 They All Deserve to Die
It was Dennis calling him.
Lucas was in pain, so he leaned against the wall and sat down on the floor, answering Dennis's call.
"Why couldn't I reach you earlier?" Dennis's puzzled voice came through the phone as soon as the call connected.
Lucas asked calmly, "What's up?"
"Clara went to see Ryan."
Lucas froze upon hearing this.
He thought Clara had cut ties with Ryan, but he didn't expect her to go see him again.
When he had mentioned Ryan in front of Clara before, her expression was very complicated.
He had assumed Clara wouldn't go looking for Ryan again.
Not to mention Ryan's sleazy appearance, Clara couldn't possibly want to get involved with him.
Besides, she had said she only liked Desmond, and their marriage was already a done deal.
The alliance with the Boleyn family was more beneficial to the Manners family, so he didn't want Clara and Desmond to have any more drama.
Moreover, knowing Clara, she probably didn't want to mess up the marriage arrangement either.
So why did Clara go looking for Ryan?
He was uncertain, trying to get up, but the pain in his abdomen and chest made him gasp.
"What's wrong?" Dennis asked.
Before Lucas could answer, Dennis asked again, "Where are you?"
Lucas managed to give the address of the club, pondering Clara's intentions.
"Wait for me, I'm coming to get you," Dennis said without hesitation, and Lucas didn't refuse.
Given his beaten-up state, getting back would indeed be a struggle.
But before Dennis arrived, he needed to confirm something with Clara.
Meanwhile, Clara was frantically going through Ryan's phone while he was in the bathroom taking a shower.
She had tricked Ryan into giving her the phone's password and found her photos, deleting them one by one.
After deleting them, Clara finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Just as she put the phone back, the bathroom door opened.
Ryan walked out, naked and full of desire.
"Clara, I'm here," he said with a smile, moving towards Clara.
Clara suppressed her disgust and let him hold her, then said, "Mr. Martin, I'm not feeling well today."
If it weren't for needing Ryan to deal with Katniss tomorrow, she wouldn't tolerate him for a second.
Thinking about what Katniss would face tomorrow, Clara gritted her teeth, enduring the nausea, and forced a smile, leaning into Ryan's embrace.
Ryan's hand roamed her waist while the other pinched her face, asking, "What's wrong? Not feeling well?"
Clara had been obedient these days, so he was treating her better.
Clara's face was pale, biting her lip in a mix of shyness and embarrassment, "I got my period, so it's inconvenient."
Ryan's lustful gaze turned displeased. "When did it start?"
"Just today," Clara bit her lip, looking guilty and regretful.
Ryan let go of her, disappointed. "Then why did you come?"
"I was worried about tomorrow." She replied.
Ryan snorted, annoyed, "I've already set everything up for tomorrow. What are you worried about? Don't you trust me?"
He was confident this time, having hired skilled people for the job.
Tomorrow would be foolproof.
Clara quickly shook her head, "No."
"Get out of here. I have to leave early tomorrow," Ryan said, remembering he had important things to do and didn't want to waste time tonight.
Katniss would leave early, and if he wanted to teach her a lesson, he needed to get ahead of her and ambush her.
Clara obediently got up and walked out, looking back with every step, seemingly reluctant.
But once she was out of the room, her demeanor changed, her face showing nothing but deep disgust and revulsion.
Finally, she had deleted the photos.
Now, she just needed to wait for tomorrow's outcome as planned.
Whether Ryan or Katniss got hurt, she would be thrilled.
Of course, if possible, she wished Ryan would kill Katniss and then get caught himself. They both deserved it.
As Clara imagined this, her phone rang.
It was Lucas calling.
Seeing Lucas's name, Clara felt a bit nervous.
After hesitating, she answered the call.
"Lucas," Clara whispered as soon as the call connected, then waited quietly for Lucas to speak.
Lucas asked directly, "Where are you?"
Hearing his question, Clara felt even more flustered.
She tried to suppress her panic and decided to be honest, "Lucas, I came to see Ryan. I have some unfinished business with him."
Clara spoke in her usual soft, vulnerable tone, making her sound particularly pitiful.
She knew that sometimes, showing vulnerability was the best way to get what she wanted.
Whenever she acted weak and pitiful, the Manners family members couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
And Lucas's reaction proved her right.
Clara could hear a hint of comfort and concern in Lucas's next words.
"Do you need my help, Clara?"
Hearing Lucas's offer, Clara felt a lump in her throat.
She choked up, "I'm fine now. I've handled everything. I won't get involved with him anymore. I'm heading home."
Lucas sighed, hearing the emotion in Clara's voice.
"Don't be sad, Clara. We're here for you."
Clara felt even more aggrieved, continuing, "Lucas, when can Dylan come home with us?"
Lucas had gotten Emma's number from her, so she guessed he had gone to see Emma this afternoon.
But she hadn't seen Lucas all afternoon and didn't know if he had succeeded.
Now, using her feelings of sadness and vulnerability, she asked.
"Dylan will be out soon." Mentioning Dylan, Lucas's mood lightened a bit.
Emma had arranged it, so Dylan should be released soon.
Though Lucas had endured some hardship seeing Emma, they had reached an understanding.
Emma likely wouldn't go back on her word.
Hearing this, Clara was overjoyed. "Then, when Dylan comes back, can we all go back to Luminous City together?"
She didn't want to stay in Starhaven any longer.
