Chapter 345 Is Katniss Bullying You
Katniss had just stepped out of the ward when Maximilian and Dylan approached.
With Maximilian by his side, Dylan, despite his worry, didn't dare to rush ahead of him.
Maximilian looked at Katniss's pale face, feeling a pang of heartache, and gently supported her.
Katniss gave him a reassuring smile.
Dylan asked, "How's Nathan doing?"
Katniss glanced at him before replying, "You should find someone to help him with his psychological issues."
With that, she took Maximilian's hand and said, "Let's go."
They were supposed to be having lunch, but Dylan's interruption not only ruined their meal but also cut into their rest time.
Dylan wanted to ask more, but a stern look from Maximilian stopped him in his tracks as he watched the two walk away.
It wasn't until they were out of sight that Dylan remembered Katniss hadn't removed his number from her blacklist.
Worried about Nathan, he hesitated but eventually went in to check on him.
Maximilian helped Katniss into the car and asked, "Are you still feeling unwell?"
He could tell that the visit had taken a lot out of her and was genuinely concerned.
Katniss shook her head. "I'm fine. I'll feel better after a bit. Let's go eat."
Seeing that she wasn't forcing herself, Maximilian instructed Conrad to drive.
He held Katniss close and whispered, "You can take a nap. We'll order food to be delivered home."
Hearing they were going home, Katniss nodded and leaned against Maximilian, drifting into a light sleep.
Meanwhile, after Katniss left, Dylan checked on Nathan and then contacted Clara.
Clara had just been dropped off at home by Ethan when she got Dylan's call about their arrival in Starhaven, which made her happy.
Despite being exhausted from dealing with Ethan, she agreed to visit the hospital.
Upon arriving, she found Dylan busy and decided to check on Elodie first.
Elodie had been transferred to Starhaven, and her caregiver was the same one Clara knew.
Seeing Clara, the caregiver exclaimed, "Oh, Ms. Clara Manners!"
Clara felt a wave of relief and asked, "How's my mom doing?"
The caregiver sighed, "It's only been a few days, so no change yet. I hope the doctors here at Starhaven can do something."
Clara nodded, "Yes, I hope she wakes up soon."
The caregiver wanted to say more, but Clara interrupted, "Could you give me a moment alone with my mom?"
"What for?" the caregiver asked, but seeing Clara's determined look, she left the room.
Once the door closed, Clara sat by the bed, her eyes welling up. "Mom, please wake up. I'm having a tough time."
After a few days in Starhaven, Clara realized that Oliver's introduction to Johnson wasn't out of genuine care but to use her as a pawn in his social games.
Though Johnson hadn't made it obvious, Clara could sense it.
Thankfully, she met Ethan.
Otherwise, she might have been pushed into dates with other men by Johnson.
Thinking about dates, Clara's mind wandered to Desmond.
Feeling overwhelmed, she started talking to Elodie about Desmond, painting him as the betrayer who kept bothering her.
In her fragmented words, she also mentioned Katniss, but not in a positive light.
As she cried and talked, she didn't notice Elodie's fingers twitching.
A knock on the door made her wipe her tears.
Dylan, having finished his tasks, found Clara crying and felt a deep ache in his heart.
"Clara, what's wrong?"
Seeing it was Dylan, Clara threw herself into his arms, sobbing.
Though her days hadn't been terrible, once her emotions broke free, she couldn't hold them back.
Dylan hugged her, gently patting her to comfort her.
He was deeply concerned but knew not to rush her for answers.
After a while, when Clara had cried herself out, Dylan asked, "What happened? Clara, who hurt you?"
Clara whispered, "Dylan, no one hurt me."
"Then why are you crying like this?" Dylan's suspicion grew, thinking Katniss might be the cause.
With Katniss in Starhaven, it would be easy for her to bully Clara.
He voiced his thoughts, "Did Katniss do something to you?"
Clara hesitated, still sniffling, but didn't respond.
This only confirmed Dylan's suspicions.
"What did she do? Clara, tell me, and I'll get justice for you!" Dylan had completely forgotten how intimidated he was by Maximilian earlier.
His protective instincts overrode any fear.
"She..." Clara started but then stopped abruptly, changing the subject. "Dylan, let's not talk about her. I want to see Nathan."
She couldn't pinpoint a specific incident, so she chose to divert the conversation.
To Dylan, this seemed like Clara was too scared to speak up about Katniss's bullying.
He felt a surge of anger but didn't press further, resolving to confront Katniss later.
Dylan led Clara to see Nathan, saying before they entered, "Nathan's not in great spirits. Just stay for a bit. Do you want me to stay with you?"
Clara shook her head. "I'll be fine on my own, Dylan. You go ahead."
Seeing Dylan's stressed look, she didn't want to keep him.
Besides, Nathan's behavior towards her in Luminous City had been odd, making her anxious about this visit.
Dylan patted her head and left.
Clara took a deep breath and knocked on Nathan's door.
Nathan saw Clara but didn't speak first.
"Nathan, are you feeling better?" Clara asked timidly, standing by his bed.
Her eyes showed concern, but she avoided his gaze.
"Better," Nathan replied. "Thanks to Katniss's treatment, otherwise, I'd still be in pain."
Nathan felt conflicted.
Despite everything, he couldn't dislike Clara, their cherished little sister who hadn't done anything wrong.
Hearing Nathan mention Katniss, Clara's face stiffened, but she agreed, "Yes, thanks to Katniss. I'm sorry I couldn't help, Nathan. I don't know any medical skills."
