Chapter 437 Successful Matching
Nathan had come to see Dylan to ask about the results of the training.
He knew that the compatibility results for him and Clara should have been out by now.
He had already asked the doctor, but the doctor didn't tell him anything.
Before he could get the results from Dylan, the police suddenly burst into his ward and took Dylan away.
Nathan couldn't believe that his Dylan would spread rumors about Katniss, but the evidence was undeniable. He had no choice but to accept it.
Dylan was taken away, and Nathan stood there, staring blankly for a long time.
His eyes were dry by the time he remembered to call Katniss.
Even though the police had already called Katniss to ask if she would forgive Dylan, and they had all heard the conversation clearly, Nathan still wanted to try one more time.
He dialed the number, but it didn't connect for a long time, making Nathan's heart sink further.
"It seems that I've been blocked," he finally remembered that Dylan had mentioned their numbers were blocked by Katniss.
Dylan had said that Katniss was truly heartless.
Nathan steadied his dizzy head and decided not to pursue the matter any further.
Dylan had made a mistake and would be detained for a while.
Nathan hoped Dylan would learn his lesson.
Thinking about how Katniss had blocked him, Nathan decided not to struggle anymore.
He realized he didn't have much time left and decided to ask about the compatibility results again.
Nathan found Hugo once more.
"Back again?" Hugo frowned slightly when he saw Nathan. "Didn't I tell you the results are with Dylan? He asked us to keep it confidential. You should ask him."
Hugo was Dylan's colleague and had promised to keep the results confidential.
Nathan lowered his head and said, "Dylan was taken away."
Hugo was surprised.
He had been busy and hadn't heard about Dylan's situation.
"Taken by whom?"
Nathan briefly explained and then asked about the compatibility results again.
"I don't know the results," Hugo still refused to reveal anything. "If Dylan isn't here, you can ask your mother. She might know."
Nathan suspected that Hugo did know the results but wasn't telling him because the results were positive.
"Thank you, Dr. Graves. I won't bother you anymore," Nathan said, leaving the office decisively.
He didn't go to Elodie but tried to contact Clara instead.
Elodie had been so excited when she found out he and Clara were being tested for compatibility.
He knew she wouldn't want them to be a match.
So, he decided not to ask her.
Besides, he wanted to switch hospitals for the kidney transplant.
However, Nathan couldn't reach Clara.
Clara was busy dealing with Ryan and hadn't noticed her phone, which she had silenced to avoid disturbing Ryan.
They were at Ryan's house.
When Ryan fell asleep, Clara left the bed with a look of disgust.
She saw Ryan's phone on the nightstand and took it to the bathroom.
She wanted to find the photos, but the phone was password-protected, and she couldn't unlock it.
Frustrated, Clara had to put the phone back.
When she left Ryan's house, she saw Nathan had called her.
She immediately thought about the kidney donation.
She hadn't been to the hospital recently for various reasons, but she had been thinking about the compatibility results.
Although she couldn't openly hope for a match, she secretly wished for a good kidney.
Before Nathan could reach Clara, Elodie found him.
"Nathan, where's Dylan? He's not with you or at the office," Elodie, looking much better after some rest, asked.
Nathan tensed up, unsure of what to say.
Seeing his expression, Elodie knew something was wrong and pressed, "Did something happen? Where's Dylan?"
Nathan sighed and said, "Mom, Dylan was taken by the police."
Elodie's face changed instantly. "What? The police! Why would they take Dylan?"
Before Nathan could explain, Elodie panicked and said, "Is it Katniss? She's always been against our family. If something happened to Dylan, it must be her fault!"
Nathan didn't know what to say.
Elodie continued to rant, wanting to tear Katniss apart.
Her words were harsh.
Nathan hadn't planned to speak, but as Elodie's words grew more offensive, he couldn't stand it anymore and said softly, "Mom, Dylan made a mistake."
The police had taken Dylan a while ago, and Nathan's initial shock had turned into calmness and rationality.
He knew that although Katniss was involved, it wasn't her fault.
Katniss was the victim, and Dylan, as the perpetrator, deserved to be punished.
"What? Nathan, what did you say?" Elodie looked at Nathan in disbelief. "You said it's Dylan's fault?"
"Our family hasn't mistreated you, Nathan. Dylan has been looking out for you. How can you say something so hurtful? Are you going to be like Katniss?"
Elodie's angry accusations made Nathan feel dizzy and uncomfortable, his heart rate irregular.
Breathing heavily, Nathan tried to explain, "I didn't mean it that way."
He struggled to breathe, looking like he was having an asthma attack, trembling and convulsing, looking pitiful and frightening.
Elodie was terrified and immediately tried to comfort him, "Don't be scared, don't be scared. I shouldn't have said that. I was just angry."
Elodie regretted her harsh words, but her comfort didn't seem to reach Nathan.
He continued to convulse and drool.
Panicking, Elodie called for Hugo.
Hugo quickly administered emergency treatment, injected Nathan with medication, and provided physical comfort before conducting an examination.
Elodie was asked to leave the room and waited outside, pacing with a mix of anger and regret.
A nurse came out to ask her what had happened.
"Why did the patient suddenly get agitated?"
Elodie stammered, "We just had a little argument. I didn't expect him to react like that. Is he okay?"
She hadn't even asked why Dylan was taken by the police.
The argument about whether Katniss was to blame had escalated into this situation.
Thinking about Nathan defending Katniss made Elodie uncomfortable.
