Chapter 332 She Is Angry
After Ethan left the hospital, he didn't dwell on the accident and drove straight back to his hotel.
As he parked in the hotel garage, a sudden ringing came from the back seat.
He paused, hand on the door, and glanced over to see a small phone lying there.
Frowning, he picked it up and answered.
"Hello, is this the person who found my phone?" A young girl's voice came through, cautious and weak.
Ethan immediately recognized her as the girl he had taken to the hospital earlier. "Yeah, it's me. Your phone must've fallen in my car when I was helping you. I didn't notice it when I dropped you off."
Clara, on the other end, sighed in relief. "Can I come by to pick it up?"
"Sure," Ethan replied, feeling tired.
He gave her the hotel name and room number, then added, "Just go to the front desk and tell them the room number. They'll give you the phone."
He had no intention of seeing Clara again and planned to leave the phone at the front desk for her to collect.
Clara agreed, and he hung up.
After handing the phone to the front desk, Ethan went back to his room to freshen up.
Meanwhile,
Katniss returned to her room after hanging up on Jesse.
Maximilian had thoughtfully arranged everything in the small house, even providing clothes that fit them in the wardrobe.
But instead of freshening up, she sat on the bed waiting for Maximilian.
When Maximilian entered the room, he saw her sitting there and asked, puzzled, "Why haven't you freshened up yet?"
He had expected Katniss to freshen up as usual, so he had come to get a change of clothes and tend to his wounds.
Katniss looked at him quietly and suddenly asked, "Besides the injury on your left hand, do you have any other wounds?"
Maximilian's eyelid twitched. "Did Jesse tell you?"
It was an admission, but Katniss had already asked, leaving him no room to hide.
"I asked him," Katniss said, walking over to Maximilian and helping him take off his clothes. "Your condition is worse than I thought."
Maximilian replied indifferently, "It's not."
Katniss didn't respond, silently removing his jacket and then his shirt.
Maximilian's dark shirt had hidden the bandages underneath, but once it was off, the bandages were exposed.
His wounds, caused by a knife, varied in depth.
The bandages had been on all day, and the medication had made the skin around the wounds pale.
Katniss calmly fetched the medical kit and began treating his wounds, saying nothing throughout the process.
Maximilian knew she was angry.
Tonight, he had seen Katniss's serious and concerned expression multiple times because of his injuries.
Time passed slowly, neither of them speaking.
The only sounds in the room were Katniss's occasional movements as she treated Maximilian's wounds.
The room was so quiet that they could hear each other's breathing.
Katniss's expression was serious.
Maximilian watched Katniss, seeing her focused and careful, afraid of hurting him.
He whispered, "It doesn't hurt. You don't have to be so gentle."
Katniss felt a surge of anger at his words.
She pressed the healing powder onto a wound and looked up at him. "Does it hurt now?"
It did hurt, but Maximilian's expression didn't change. "It's fine."
Katniss didn't say anything else, nor did she continue testing his pain tolerance.
When she finished treating all the wounds on his upper body and bandaged them, she was sweating.
Maximilian reached for his clothes, but Katniss stopped him. "Do you have any injuries on your legs?"
She had seen Maximilian in a self-destructive state before, and these wounds were worse than the last time. She suspected his legs hadn't escaped injury.
"Just a little," Maximilian said. "I can handle it myself."
Katniss sighed. "Are you embarrassed?"
Maximilian was taken aback.
He thought Katniss was still angry, but she was teasing him.
Was her anger gone?
"Are you not mad anymore?" Maximilian couldn't help but ask.
He cared deeply about Katniss.
He wanted to eliminate any negative emotions she had and cherish her positive ones.
"I'm not mad," Katniss said.
She had stopped being angry halfway through treating his wounds.
Even if she had been angry initially, it was at herself.
Seeing Maximilian's wounds and his pitiful state filled her with concern.
But despite her concern, she had to suppress it.
She wanted Maximilian not to hide important things from her.
She was his wife and had the right to know what was happening to him.
Thinking about how she placed herself in the role of Maximilian's partner made her blush, but she quickly pushed the feeling aside.
Maximilian sighed in relief at her response.
Katniss said, "Let me see the wounds on your legs. I'll treat them too."
They had done more intimate things before, so this wasn't embarrassing.
Besides, she needed to see the wounds to decide on the treatment.
Maximilian didn't hesitate long and cooperated.
The wounds on his legs weren't severe, but his legs had only recently healed under Katniss's care.
He didn't want her to worry about them getting worse.
Katniss carefully treated the wounds on his legs, then took him to the bathroom to gently clean the uninjured areas.
She treated him like a patient, not embarrassed by his body during the treatment.
But once they were in the bathroom, the atmosphere changed.
What started as a simple cleaning ended with her joining in, and Maximilian, using the excuse of apologizing, undressed her and bathed her.
After leaving the bathroom, she couldn't resist as Maximilian carried her to the bed.
The bedside lamp went out, and lying on the bed identical to the one at Golden Crest Estates, Katniss felt a bit tense.
Especially when she sensed his intentions and her desire ignited, she became more active during sex, not wanting Maximilian's wounds to reopen and bleed.
"You're amazing," Maximilian's deep, magnetic voice whispered in her ear, making her feel like her ears were burning.
The night stretched on, and the room filled with heat.
