Chapter 102 I Want to Try It with You While Sober

Douglas followed Regina into the room and naturally saw the scene.

He noticed the stiffness in her hand, walked over to her, and quietly took the box from her hand. "I didn't plan to use it."

He meant that he had no intention of doing anything with her tonight.

Regina instinctively asked, "Aren't we married?"

"So what are you saying?" He chuckled and asked her back. "We're married, so I can make love to you tonight? Or because we're married, we don't need to use contraception?"

This left Regina momentarily stunned.

Douglas seemed to see through her confusion and added, "Last time, because of your grandmother, you impulsively said you wanted to prepare for pregnancy. I was indeed happy and made preparations for it, but now that your grandmother is gone, I think you need to reconsider this."

Having a child was no small matter. She would endure pain and hardship, and having a child shouldn't be about fulfilling someone else's wish; it had to be something she truly wanted.

In short, he was thinking about her from her perspective.

But Regina felt uneasy.

Douglas threw the box of condoms back where it was and found her pajamas for her.

Regina dawdled and took a shower.

Douglas listened to the continuous sound of water from the bathroom, his expression somewhat somber.

After all, the feelings he had kept hidden for so many years were suddenly exposed, and he hadn't quite recovered.

That affection, in the end, had a few elements that couldn't be exposed.

Regina took a long shower, but it didn't clear her mind. Instead, the more she washed, the more confused she felt.

She simply turned off the shower, dried herself with a towel, changed her clothes, and walked out.

She went straight to find Douglas.

Unexpectedly, Douglas was on the phone with Nicole, settling accounts.

His voice was cold. "Didn't I say, if she can't remember, don't mention it?"

"I just thought if something like last time happened again, it would be dangerous." On the other end, Nicole was desperately defending herself. "Why didn't you tell her yourself? What's wrong with Regina knowing you've liked her for a long time? Next time she wants to get mad at you, she might consider your many years of affection, right?"

'Did his affection really carry so little weight?' Nicole didn't believe it.

Her long-winded explanation was somewhat annoying to the already troubled Douglas.

However, Nicole wasn't wrong.

Although Regina appeared cold and was hard to approach, she was a person who valued relationships deeply.

Just as Douglas was about to give a response, he caught a glimpse of a figure out of the corner of his eye.

After a two-second pause, he hung up the phone.

"Don't blame Nicole," Regina said. "She meant well and just wants the best for us."

"I know," Douglas replied, looking at the thinly dressed person standing in front of him, and nodded towards the room. "Go to sleep."

"What about you?" Regina asked.

"I'll be there later," he replied curtly.

Their hotel room was a luxury suite with two bedrooms, a study, a lounge, and more.

Douglas didn't plan to share a bed with Regina tonight.

He couldn't keep overestimating his self-control.

"I want to try," Regina said in a very low voice.

Douglas couldn't quite understand. "What did you say?"

"Can I try with you tonight?"

Regina knew this thought wasn't sudden. It had been hidden within her for a long time, and after hearing that he had liked her for many years, this thought became more impulsive and unrestrained, like a tender shoot breaking through the soil.

"I won't drink. I want to make love to you while I'm sober."
