Chapter 107 Seduction
Regina pressed her lips and answered the phone.
"Where are you?" came Douglas's voice.
After returning from Garmeny, a lot of work had piled up. Douglas had to work overtime tonight, and when he got home, he found that Regina wasn't there, so he immediately called her.
Regina replied, "I'm still out. I went back to my old apartment to find something tonight."
"Did you find it?" Douglas asked.
Regina's nose inexplicably felt a bit sour. She softly hummed in response, a very faint sound carried by the night wind. She couldn't detect anything unusual, but Douglas inadvertently furrowed his brow. "What's wrong? Are you upset?"
Regina was stunned. 'How is he so perceptive?' she thought.
"Tell me, who upset you?"
Sensing his eager of wanting to avenge her, Regina couldn't help but laugh. "No. It's just that my phone broke, and I'm a bit sad."
Douglas seemed a bit incredulous. "Is the limit on the card I gave you not enough?"
'How could that be?' he thought.
Regina shook her head. "No, it's an old phone. It might have something very important to me stored in it."
Douglas paused thoughtfully.
Regina didn't know what he was thinking, but she felt that someone as smart as Douglas couldn't be completely oblivious.
Douglas didn't want to talk about it because he thought that part of the past was unimportant to her, or perhaps he had his own reasons. Regina understood and wouldn't force him to talk about it.
She would find what she lost on her own.
Just like in their life together, Douglas always respected her wishes, even when it came to making love. It was always when she was fully willing and prepared.
Regina felt that even if they were halfway through, and she said she didn't want to continue, he would stop without hesitation.
"Can the old phone be fixed?" Douglas asked.
"Not sure yet," Regina said honestly. "The repair person told me to wait for the results. It might take a week."
"Where are you now? I'll come pick you up," said Douglas.
Regina glanced at her location; it wasn't far from where they lived.
"No need. I'll be back soon."
"Okay, I'll wait for you."
About half an hour later, Regina returned home.
Molly, who was playing in the living room, barked excitedly upon hearing the door open.
When Regina opened the door, she instinctively wanted to pick Molly up and play with her, but to her surprise, the first thing she saw was Douglas standing at the door.
It took Molly a while to wag her tail and come over.
Just as Regina was about to withdraw her hand, Douglas grabbed her wrist, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her.
When his lips touched hers, Regina didn't dodge. She responded actively, and his kiss deepened.
Douglas seemed to have a feeling of never getting enough of kissing her. But he restrained himself.
On the last day of their trip to Garmeny, they had been too indulgent while making love.
Regina really couldn't take it anymore.
Fortunately, Douglas hadn't hurt her.
Actually, it was that day that Douglas heard Regina mention some follow-up about the Seasons Hotel.
She said that because it hurt too much afterward, she went to the hospital and was diagnosed with vaginal tears.
Since she couldn't apply medication herself, her injury took a long time to heal.
As a result, every time his member was about to enter her, she would feel a bit scared.
Thinking of this, Douglas rubbed her head.
Regina didn't understand why there was a look of guilt in his eyes again. She nonchalantly changed her shoes and walked into the house.
"Are you hungry?" Douglas asked, following behind her.
Regina felt like she had gained weight recently. Besides, she wasn't very hungry. She shook her head and said, "No."
She sat down on the couch, just wanting to rest for a while, when Melissa sent her a message.
Melissa first asked if Regina was asleep, then apologized for disturbing her. She said that Sandra going to find Regina today was impulsive and that Sandra shouldn't have driven into Regina.
Melissa then said she was forced to make that choice.
After returning home, she felt really tormented.
Finally, she asked Regina if she had told that person to stop Sandra from marrying Vitas. If he spoke up, the Johnson family would definitely listen, right?
Regina calmly stared at her phone screen for a while, then looked at Douglas sitting next to her.
"Can I ask you for a favor?" said Regina.
"What is it?"
"Can Sandra and Vitas's engagement be called off?"
"Why bring this up suddenly?"
"Because they came to me."
Douglas narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of coldness flashing by. "So, are you going to compromise?"
'Is it a compromise?' Regina also asked herself this inwardly.
She lowered her eyes slightly, her thick lashes covering the emotions in her eyes. She remained silent for a long time, not giving Douglas an answer.
Douglas said, "Alright, whatever choice you make, I support you. I know your concession isn't weakness."
Regina's tense nerves relaxed.
When she first married Douglas, because of his status, she always felt tense around him. But as they got to know each other better, Regina found that Douglas had a kind of relaxed demeanor that made people feel comfortable.
"Thank you, Douglas."
Douglas, perhaps on a whim, stared at her face and asked, "Can you call me Honey?"
He still remembered that night in Garmeny. When they made love, she called him Honey.
It was an irresistible temptation for Regina.
Regina looked up, meeting his passionate gaze, feeling a slight ripple in her heart.
She said very seriously, "Thank you, Honey."
The next day, Melissa sent Regina a voice message, saying that Vitas had called off the engagement. She was very grateful and said "thank you" many times.
Now, Sandra was finally happy, and Melissa felt relieved.
You should know that Sandra had cried and made a fuss over this matter, not calling Melissa "Mom" for several days.
Listening to Melissa's gratitude and excitement, Regina wondered if Melissa, after being married into that family for so many years, truly didn't understand her husband or if she was just pretending to be ignorant.
Did Melissa think that by having the Johnson family call off the engagement, they could walk away unscathed?
Didn't Melissa understand what kind of person she had been sleeping next to for all those years?
To David, Sandra used to be an asset that could be traded for benefits.
Originally, with Vitas, she could realize her "value" and gain benefits.
But now, with the Johnson family calling off the engagement, Sandra had become a useless piece of junk.
Would David still treat her well and provide for her?
With the engagement called off, Sandra's life would only get worse.
Of course, if she had value, David might reconsider picking her up.
But ultimately, David never saw Sandra as his daughter.
