Chapter 108 So Obedient
The passed days went uneventfully for Regina.
During this time, both she and Douglas were busy with work.
Douglas went abroad again for a short period, but this time, he didn't take Regina with him because the work was intense and the schedule was particularly tight.
He was simply worried that Regina might not adapt to the environment well and would get exhausted.
The day after Douglas went abroad was the weekend, and Regina stayed at home, feeling quite bored.
She lay on the bed, chatting with others.
Previously, Regina, Miranda, and Nicole had created a chat group, and the three of them were chatting enthusiastically in the group.
They agreed to meet up later.
Regina glanced at the time and planned to stay in bed a little longer, but just as she was about to put down her phone, Douglas sent her a few photos.
There was a time difference between the two places.
While Regina was thinking about getting up, Douglas had just finished a day's work and returned to the hotel to rest.
He had a habit of reporting his whereabouts.
So Regina knew exactly what he had done today and who he had been with.
Regina messaged: [It must be a long day. Have some rest.]
Regina searched online for a long time before finding a cute emoji to send.
But honestly, seeing Regina's indifferent demeanor, no one would have thought that she would send such an emoji.
Douglas sent a voice message: [Aren't you going to check my place?]
Regina took a moment to react and then realized why he wanted her to check his place.
Understanding the hint, Regina made a video call to him.
When the video connected, Regina didn't see Douglas's face but saw the room he was staying in.
Douglas's phone camera panned across the luxurious and bright room as if trying to prove that there was no one else in the room but him.
Regina couldn't help but chuckle. She didn't suspect him of being with another woman; his way of proving his innocence made her seem overly suspicious.
"I don't want to see the room," said Regina.
"Hmm?" Douglas was a little confused.
"I want to see you."
So, after Regina said that, she immediately saw Douglas's face.
He was dressed in a suit. She guessed he just returned to the hotel and hadn't had time to do anything else before messaging her.
Regina watched as he talked to her while raising his hand to remove the tie and unbuttoning a few buttons on his shirt, then lazily leaning back on the couch. This was probably his most comfortable and relaxing moment of the day.
"Mrs. Semona, have you seen enough?"
Regina shook off her reverie and returned to her senses. "What did you just say?"
"I asked what your plans are for the weekend?"
When he asked, Regina laid out her plans for the day.
Hearing that she was going shopping with Nicole, Douglas suddenly felt a bit uneasy.
Mainly because you never know what Nicole might say.
Actually, Douglas wasn't unaware that Regina was investigating their past. From her going back to the old house to get things to fix the old phone, he had a vague idea.
He hadn't confessed the past to her, but he didn't oppose her investigating.
If she was destined to know their past, he thought it would be better for her to discover it slowly on her own rather than him telling her.
Seeing him not speaking, Regina cautiously asked, "Is there a problem with my plans for today?"
"No," He said in a low voice. "Enjoy your shopping."
Regina remembered the last time she went shopping with Nicole. They casually spent over a million dollars.
Just as Regina was starting to feel like she was spending too much money, she heard Douglas's coaxing voice. "Go crazy, otherwise I won't have any motivation to make money."
Regina stared intently at Douglas's face on the phone screen. She felt like her heart was being pulled towards him.
Douglas naturally noticed the unusual look in her eyes, different from her usual self.
Regina wasn't the type to be passionate and straightforward; she was like lukewarm water, but now, that cup of water was slowly boiling. It was boiling because of him.
Douglas seemed to remember something and suddenly asked, "Have the people from our side been bothering you a lot lately?"
Regina explained, "It's not bothering. It's caring."
Everyone was very happy to know they had reconciled.
"Mr. Leo Semona called me yesterday, asking when we could move back to the house over there."
"What did you say?"
"I said we'll as soon as you're done with this busy period."
"Okay."
Regina then mentioned that she had plans to see a play with Elizabeth tomorrow.
"Don't force yourself if you don't want to go."
"No, I wanna go," Regina said. "She's very nice."
"Call her Mom, or she won't be happy."
Regina then remembered that Elizabeth had told her to call her Mom, as it felt closer and more natural.
"Okay, I got it."
Although she knew it would be hard to change immediately, Regina still obediently agreed.
'So obedient.' Douglas looked at Regina's delicate and beautiful face on the screen, feeling a surge of desire.
That kind of affection and love almost overflowed from his eyes.
After a moment of silence, he said, "Should I hang up?"
Regina frowned in confusion, seemingly not expecting it to be so sudden.
"I need to take a shower," He tugged at the corner of his lips and said in a low voice. "If you want to keep talking, I can chat while I shower."
Regina steadied her mind and said, "I'll hang up."
Staring at the darkened phone screen, Regina didn't shake off her reverie and returned to her senses for a long time.
In the afternoon, Regina went out with Miranda and Nicole.
The life of shopping, drinking coffee, and chatting was indeed comfortable.
At a leisurely pace, Miranda edited a video to commemorate the pleasant weekend.
Regina thought it would be a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.
But unexpectedly, in the evening, something happened that distracted her.
She saw a piece of news that exploded on the trending topics on her phone.
[William Sterling, Chairman of the Heyday Group, passed away suddenly due to illness.]
William was Philip's father.
During the years Regina was with Philip, she didn't know much about his family because Philip didn't seem to like talking about his family matters in front of others.
Regina could only tell that he was very unhappy in that family.
She just glanced at the news casually, then refocused and turned off her phone, tossing it aside.
Regina knew in her heart that they had nothing to do with each other anymore.
The reason she was distracted by his news was probably because she found it strange.
But that wasn't the strangest part.
The strangest part was that a few days later, Melissa told Regina that Sandra had a new boyfriend.
Melissa said she didn't know what kind of man Sandra had suddenly found.
