Chapter 163 Another Day Enchanted by Douglas's Charm
Regina's mind went blank at that moment, and she instinctively shouted, "Mr. Semona."
Douglas curled his lips into a light smile and responded earnestly, "Yes."
All eyes silently gathered on them.
Douglas had only been to their office once before, and that was after everyone had left for the day. This was the first time he had walked up to her under everyone's gaze so openly.
Regina felt inexplicably guilty. "Mr. Semona, is there something you need?"
"No, I just came to check on you."
Everyone was shocked!
Clearly, such words made it hard not to overthink.
But then, he slowly added, "After all, you got injured because of me, and I feel very guilty."
This was an embarrassing incident for Regina, caused by rough sex in his office that led to her bleeding.
But when these words came out of his mouth, they sounded very serious. Anyone who thought otherwise would feel like their own thoughts were the problem.
Everyone suddenly understood.
'Mr. Semona was just here to show concern for his subordinate.'
Seeing this, Janet quickly said, "By the way, Regina, you should go to the HR department later to handle the workplace injury procedures. They'll give you a satisfactory answer regarding reimbursement and lost wages."
"No need."
Regina mainly feared that they would ask her to provide some medical proof. Then, she wouldn't be able to hide her pregnancy test results.
Douglas looked at Janet and instructed, "The doctor advised that Regina needs to rest more during this period, so don't assign her any business trips or social engagements."
"I understand." Janet didn't forget to praise her. "Regina has been doing a great job pushing forward the projects she's been responsible for recently."
Douglas withdrew his gaze from Regina.
Seeing that Regina was uncomfortable, he didn't linger in the translation department.
Because he had taken two days off, a pile of work had accumulated that needed to be handled.
He first reviewed the business plan and financial statements for the last quarter, and then approved the budget for the next quarter during a three-hour-long meeting in the afternoon.
By the time he returned to his office, it was already evening.
Douglas stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows that covered an entire wall, loosening the tie around his neck. He seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
To be honest, he was still a bit dazed over the past two days.
He felt a bit light-headed, as if he were walking on clouds, unreal.
He kept thinking, 'Regina is pregnant.'
What followed were various vivid images.
He seemed to see her belly growing day by day, saw her enduring the hardships of ten months of pregnancy to give birth to their child, saw the child growing up bit by bit, and saw them walking through a long period of time together.
He seemed to have thought a lot, planning a long road ahead.
He believed he needed time to gradually grasp that his wish had truly been granted.
Dorothy noticed something was off with Douglas again.
During his free time, he sat on the couch in the lounge, looking at something on his personal computer.
It wasn't data reports or documents, but videos.
Dorothy approached him with a cup of freshly brewed coffee and inadvertently glanced at the screen.
It was a highly-rated foreign documentary, seemingly about pregnancy, childbirth, and infant growth.
Dorothy was momentarily stunned.
'Why was Douglas suddenly watching this? Could it be that his wife was pregnant?'
Her suspicion was quickly confirmed.
Because Douglas handed her a piece of paper, and on it was a list of books.
All of them were about childbirth and parenting.
"Could you help me buy these books?"
Dorothy reflexively showed a complex expression of surprise and joy. "Congratulations, Mr. Semona."
"Thank you."
Douglas didn't hide the fact that his wife was pregnant. Although he didn't say it out loud, anyone entering his office could easily see the childbirth and parenting books on his desk.
The news of Douglas' wife being pregnant spread throughout the company in less than two days.
"Haha, you know, I see Mr. Semona in a different light now. I feel like he's radiating 'paternal glow.'"
"I've only heard of 'maternal glow.' What the heck is 'paternal glow'?"
"I just think he's going to be a great dad!"
Regarding Douglas' marriage, there used to be occasional rumors in the company that 'he and his wife had no feelings for each other.'
But first, they showed affection at the company's annual party, and then Douglas frequently engaged in 'romantic gestures' with his wife at the company.
Later, he wore a wedding ring and paid attention to the small details of childbirth and parenting, which was enough to prove his loyalty and care for the marriage.
Thus, some rumors were dispelled.
"Stop it. I'm once again charmed by Mr. Semona. How can such a man exist in this world? He's terrifyingly competent at work, incredibly handsome, and has everything one could want. On top of that, he takes good care of his family."
Regina heard such comments wherever she went today.
Initially, she found it awkward listening to them, yet the more she tuned in, the more she found herself smiling.
She also thought, 'Yes. Hhow could such a man exist in this world? And this man belonged to me.'
After having a simple lunch in the company cafeteria, Regina returned to the office.
Unexpectedly, the office was in a state of upheaval.
"Uh, so someone in our office is pregnant?"
At the words, Regina's steps, which were originally moving forward, suddenly froze.
