Chapter 178 Watch Your Language

When Regina was fourteen weeks pregnant, she went to the hospital for her second checkup.

As usual, Douglas accompanied her the whole way.

The checkup included an ultrasound to look at the development of the embryos. Probably because she was carrying twins, Regina felt her worries had doubled.

Fortunately, the final results came out, and there were no abnormalities.

Holding the checkup report as she walked out of the doctor's office, Regina let out a long sigh of relief.

Every day welcoming a new life should be filled with joy.

She smiled at Douglas, "Can we have Mexican food for dinner tonight? I've been craving it."

During the early stages of her pregnancy, she particularly liked sour foods, but recently she had been craving something spicy.

Douglas said, "How about we have dinner at Semona Estate tonight? I'll have them prepare Mexican food for you."

Today was Saturday, and Leo had been eagerly waiting for him to bring Regina back.

Regina had no objections to going back to Semona Estate, but she had some thoughts about the Mexican food, "Let's save the Mexican food for next time. Leo and Elizabeth can't really handle spicy food..."

"Mexican food is a must. We'll just have the staff prepare a few more dishes."

Regina still had some concerns.

She had been to Semona Estate many times and knew everyone's tastes well. Mexican food had never appeared on their dining table.

She said, "It's okay, we can have it next time. We can even have it tomorrow."

Douglas didn't say much more and just took her back to Semona Estate.

By the time they got home, it was already evening.

Dinner was already prepared, and when Regina walked into the dining room, she was stunned.

In the center of the large round table, there were many Mexican dishes.

Regina was a bit taken aback and instinctively looked at Douglas.

It was like she was asking him, "Didn't we agree not to have Mexican food tonight? So what's going on now?"

She asked, somewhat puzzled, "Are we having just Mexican food tonight? No... no other dishes?"

After all, many members of the Semona family didn't eat this kind of food.

Leo smiled and said, "I heard you wanted Mexican food, so I had the kitchen prepare it. I've never had Mexican food before, so I thought I'd join you in enjoying it. It looks really delicious, doesn't it?"

Leo was asking Elizabeth.

Elizabeth nodded and said, "Yes, it's nice to finally try something we've never had before."

Even Nancy jumped in, pointing at the Mexican food excitedly, "I want to eat something spicy too!"

No one in the room seemed unhappy about having only Mexican food tonight.

Douglas pulled the still-stunned Regina over and sat her down at the table, "What do you want to start with? I'll get it for you."

Regina finally snapped out of it and pointed to her plate.

In the dining room, the hot Mexican food was accompanied by lively laughter.

For a moment, the atmosphere made Regina feel an almost surreal sense of happiness like she was in a dream.

Suddenly, her eyes felt a bit damp, and she felt extremely embarrassed.

Fortunately, the Mexican food was quite spicy, so her cheeks were flushed, and she was sweating. The thin layer of sweat mixed with her tears, making it less noticeable.

Everyone was eating slowly and attentively, so hopefully, no one had noticed the subtle signs of her distress.

Just as Regina was thinking this, a tissue was handed to her.

Douglas looked into her eyes and joked, "Mrs. Semona, did the spice make you cry?"

Regina took the tissue from him, dabbed at her eyes, and replied in a deadpan tone, "The food is so good, it's making me emotional."

Douglas smiled at Regina's dry humor.

Casually, she glanced around and noticed that there were a couple of other tearful faces at the table.

Leo and Nancy, who couldn't handle even a hint of spice, had insisted on trying the Mexican food.

Nancy was wailing, her little mouth constantly demanding water.

Leo, meanwhile, had a red face and a neck like a beet, his eyes brimming with tears that he was desperately trying to hold back.

Regina found the whole scene both amusing and a bit embarrassing.

Yet, Leo and Nancy seemed to be enjoying the challenge.

Despite being clearly overwhelmed by the heat, they stubbornly continued eating, as if it were a competition they were determined to win.

As everyone continued to eat and chat, the atmosphere grew lively.

Nicole even brought out a bottle of wine.

However, Nicole wasn't exactly a heavy drinker.

After half a bottle, she started to get a bit tipsy, looking somewhat like Regina had earlier.

But Nicole's drunk behavior was far less composed than Regina's.

"Stupid man!" Nicole suddenly exclaimed, drawing everyone's attention to her. "It's hard to find a toad with three legs in this world, but there are plenty of two-legged men around. You think I'm interested in you? I'll find someone tomorrow—someone young, tall, and firm! I couldn't care less about an old man like you!"

As soon as her words sank in, the atmosphere around the table froze, like a sudden chill had swept through.

Douglas, observing the ruckus Nicole was causing, spoke in a calm tone, "Nicole, quiet down."

"Why should I?"

Douglas, looking at her chattering mouth, reached over and placed a hand gently on Regina's stomach, saying seriously, "Watch your language; it's important for the baby."
