Chapter 155 Call Your Husband to Join the Fun

"Regina, are you okay?"

Janet followed closely behind, tapping on the bathroom stall door with some concern.

Regina straightened up, feeling much better after regaining her composure. She opened the bathroom door, a smile tugging at her lips. "I'm fine, Ms. Liam."

"Then let's go. We have an event tonight; let's relax a bit."

Work pressure had been quite intense lately, and with the weekend coming up, a night of fun seemed like a good way to unwind.

When everyone arrived at the club, it was nine o'clock in the evening.

Regina had just sat down in the private room when she heard her phone vibrate. She took it out of her bag and saw it was a call from Douglas.

With the room bustling with people, Regina didn't bother to avoid anything. She answered the call and gently said, "I'm at a department gathering tonight. I might be home late. You should go to bed early and not wait up for me."

Douglas, sitting in his car, tapped the steering wheel with his fingers. "It's okay. Enjoy yourself. Call me when you're ready, and I'll come pick you up."

"But I'm not sure how late we'll be."

Plus, it was Janet's birthday today.

Janet had always looked out for her at work, and they had a good relationship. Regina didn't want to leave early and spoil the fun.

"It's okay. I'll wait for you."

As Regina paused momentarily on the phone, she failed to note that the gazes of everyone in the room had shifted to her.

"Here it comes! Regina's mysterious rich husband was calling!"

Everyone was gossiping, staring intently at Regina.

Regina looked up and saw all the eyes on her, momentarily stunned.

Regaining her composure, she calmly said into the phone, "I'll call you back later."

After getting a response, she hung up the phone.

"What's up, Regina? Was that your husband?" a female colleague asked with a smile.

Regina nodded lightly. "Yes."

"What did he say?"

Regina, not good at lying, followed her colleague's lead. "He asked when I'd be home so he could pick me up."

"Your husband is so considerate. You could invite him to join us. We're all around the same age; it would be fun."

Lucia couldn't help but interject, "Same age? Regina, isn't your husband much older than you?"

Regina's brow furrowed slightly. "He's older, but not by much. Just three years."

Lucia frowned even more. 'Only three years older? That doesn't make sense!'

"Do you want to invite him over?"

"Better not."

As soon as Regina finished speaking, Lucia chimed in, "Regina, are you overthinking this? Can't you see? We're just happy for you and want to meet your husband. It's not a big deal. It feels like you're hiding something from us. When Minnie got married, her husband treated us to dinner and karaoke. And Sue even introduced her boyfriend to us when she was just dating. He even brought us afternoon tea once when he visited her at work. You had some too."

Lucia's words implied that Regina was unsociable and didn't fit in.

Listening to Lucia's endless chatter, Regina shot her a light glance.

The atmosphere, which had been good, was now muddied by Lucia.

Some people, not seeing Lucia's intentions, echoed her sentiments.

Janet, sensing the tension, stepped in with a laugh. "Hey, everyone, remember who the main character is today. It's my birthday, not Regina's husband's."

Just as Janet finished speaking, the door to the private room opened.

Everyone's eyes turned to the door again, and they were all stunned.

Douglas had arrived unexpectedly.

He must have come straight from the office.

He was still clad in his work attire, yet his customarily buttoned-down shirt now hung open at the collar, and his sleeves were rolled up to expose his muscular forearms, endowing him with an appearance of relaxation and informality.

Janet muttered, "How did he show up just as we were talking about him?"

"Ms. Liam, what did you say?"

Janet's heart skipped a beat. "Nothing."

Unnoticed, Douglas walked to the center of the room, and everyone saw that he was accompanied by Loren Schneider from the translation department.

Loren scratched his head awkwardly. "What a coincidence. I arrived just after you guys and saw Mr. Semona's car parked next to mine."

Loren had greeted Douglas in the parking lot and, out of politeness, mentioned that it was Janet's birthday party and invited him to join.

Loren hadn't expected Douglas to accept, but he did, and they came up together.

Regina couldn't believe that Douglas, who had just messaged her, was now standing in front of her.

After a minute of silence, everyone snapped out of it and started greeting Douglas.

"Don't mind me. I'm just here because I ran into Loren in the parking lot and heard it was Ms. Liam's birthday. I thought I'd join in the fun." He picked up a glass of wine from the table, his wedding ring glinting in the dim light. He raised his glass to Janet. "Happy birthday."

Janet quickly filled her glass. "Thank you, Mr. Semona."

Douglas put down his glass and looked for a place to sit.

To others, it seemed like he chose a spot at random, but to Regina, it was clear he was heading straight for her.

When he sat down next to her, Regina's heart raced.

She felt both nervous and happy.

Since Douglas had entered, everyone's eyes had been on him. Even though he said not to mind him, he was like a beacon.

How could anyone not notice?

Probably because Douglas was there, and he wasn't the type to mingle with employees outside of work, Regina could feel the atmosphere cooling down.

Douglas didn't want to be the buzzkill boss, but with Regina here, he just wanted to be by her side, nothing more.

Seeing the atmosphere was still dull, Janet called the waiter to bring some fruit platters, snacks, and a case of beer.

Sure enough, after drinking a few bottles, everyone's spirits lifted significantly.

Some started singing, others played drinking games, and the private room with over twenty people became lively.

Regina sat quietly. She definitely wasn't drinking tonight.

Suddenly, a cold glass of juice was handed to her.

On this hot summer night, it was very refreshing.

Regina's lips curved into a slight smile. "Thank you."

In the dim light, as she took the juice, Douglas held her hand for a few seconds, startling Regina. Fortunately, everyone was now distracted by the drinks and not paying much attention to them.

However, Lucia, slightly tipsy, seemed to catch a glimpse of something. Her pupils dilated in surprise, but when she looked again, it seemed like nothing had happened.

She thought she must have had too much to drink!

Lucia took a deep breath, trying hard to stay calm.

"Mr. Semona, Regina, we're about to play a game. Do you want to join?" Suddenly, Janet asked the two sitting on the sofa.

Regina felt a headache at the mention of games.

At that moment, everyone thought of the time Regina got drunk and tried to unbuckle Douglas' belt.

Seeing everyone's eyes on her and Douglas, Regina hesitated but eventually agreed.

After all, she hadn't been drinking tonight, so she shouldn't do anything weird, right?

She nodded lightly. "Okay."

Douglas' voice followed almost immediately. "Sure."

Everyone was familiar with each other and comfortable in this setting.

Lucia, having had a few drinks, excitedly took the lead. "Let's start with Truth or Dare to warm up!"

Regina thought, 'Does this game save your life? Why do you like it so much? Can't you pick another game?'

Probably because of the last time Regina chose to unbuckle Douglas' belt during the game, everyone instinctively focused on her.

Regina sat up straight, trying to act like nothing had happened, but Douglas' whisper, only audible to her, made her falter. "Mrs. Semona, you're quite good at unbuckling belts now. It should be easy for you to do it again, right?"

Regina's ears turned red. She took another sip of her cold juice.

Everyone sat in a circle, and the game quickly began.

If Douglas hadn't been here, the place would have been chaotic by now. But with him present, everyone behaved more properly.

Lucia skillfully picked up the deck of cards.

There were twenty-four cards in total, with only one King of Hearts. According to the rules, whoever drew the King of Hearts had to choose between Truth or Dare.

Lucia went around, making sure everyone drew a card.

After Douglas drew his card, it was Regina's turn.

Honestly, this little game made her nervous.

She hesitated for a few seconds before revealing her card, and to her dismay, it was the King of Hearts again!

What she feared the most had come true!

Lucia couldn't believe her luck. She really wanted to see Regina embarrassed!

She immediately brought the task cards to Regina.

"Regina, you really have a connection with this game. It's okay. We're all friends here. Do you choose Truth or Dare?"

Having suffered from Dare before, Regina thought for a moment and said, "Truth."

"Alright."

Lucia placed the stack of Truth cards in front of her and let her pick one. Regina thought deeply for a while but ended up picking one randomly.

Under everyone's watchful eyes, she revealed her card.

Lucia read the words on the card aloud, "Please answer how many times a week you have sex with your current partner?"

The room erupted in laughter.

Everyone was an adult, and with the alcohol, such a topic easily stirred the atmosphere.

Regina's face turned even redder. She didn't speak for a long time.

Lucia secretly laughed, thinking Regina was too embarrassed to answer because she probably didn't have sex even once a week.

After all, older men weren't good at sex.

Lucia conveniently ignored the fact that Regina had told her not long ago that her husband was only three years older than her.

She thought Regina's husband must be thirty years older to make sense.

"What's wrong, Regina? Is there something you can't talk about?" Lucia asked 'considerately.'

Not really.

Regina's mind was still processing.

She could have just said any number, and the question would be over.

But she seriously thought about it.

She remembered that when she and Douglas first started having sex, he wanted it almost every day, sometimes even two or three times a night.

Later, Douglas likely realized she couldn't keep up and that he should restrain himself, leading to sex now being three to five times weekly.

Douglas watched Regina, who was deep in thought, and found her incredibly cute.

His long, slender fingers tapped the armrest of the sofa, patiently waiting for her answer.

Finally, she seemed to have figured it out. She felt embarrassed but remained calm on the surface.

In a low, serious voice, she said, "Recently, it's been three times a week."

"Wow! Model husband! Experts say that having sex two to three times a week keeps women in good health!"

"Moderation is key!"

The more everyone talked, the more embarrassed Regina felt.

She felt like countless eyes were on her.

Amid the commotion, Lucia started the second round of the game.

Regina breathed a slight sigh of relief.

She relaxed and leaned back, intending to rest against the sofa, but instead of the soft feel of the sofa, she felt the firm muscles of an arm.

Douglas was sitting next to Regina, his arm casually draped behind her on the sofa.

When Regina leaned back, she ended up in his embrace.

Just as she realized something was wrong and tried to sit up, she heard Douglas' low, husky voice in her ear. "Mrs. Semona, you got it wrong. It's four times. Don't you remember the time in the parking lot?"
