Chapter 210 No Matter What, You Can't Win Against Him

Mars kept glancing at his watch, getting more impatient by the minute.

Philip had been standing there for what felt like forever.

Mars couldn't hold it in anymore and nudged him, "Mr. Sterling, the doc's been asking for you. You really should go see him."

Philip's health had been going downhill lately. His pale face was a blank slate.

He finally spoke up, but it was totally off-topic, "Why did Regina come out of the neurosurgery building? Shouldn't she be getting a prenatal checkup?"

There was this fancy private OB-GYN hospital in Oriant City, known as the best around.Rich folks usually picked that place to have their babies. First, 'cause the medical care was top-notch, and second, for the privacy and great service.

Regina was definitely getting her prenatal checkups there and planned to have the baby there too. But seeing her with a baby bump here was just weird.

Seeing Philip lost in thought, Mars guessed, "Maybe she's here for her chronic headaches. I heard the neurosurgeons at this hospital are the best in the country."

Philip said, "Go find out."

Mars went quiet. He thought, 'I really doesn't want to deal with this anymore!'

Luckily, Mars didn't have to dig too deep; the info came quick.

Douglas and Regina were too noticeable. Wherever they went, they drew all the attention. Mars just had to ask around near the neurosurgery building.

It turned out Regina was sick and needed brain surgery. Mars was floored by this news.

By chance, he overheard some neurosurgeons and nurses chatting, "So, there's no one completely happy in this world, right? No matter how rich, how loved, or how much they have, they still have to endure such pain. It's hard to imagine. They were supposed to be happily welcoming their babies, but who could have expected this? It's really unpredictable."

When Mars told Philip exactly what he heard, he saw Philip's eyes suddenly well up.

Philip had never looked this hurt or vulnerable, not even when Edward stabbed him in the chest.

Seeing Philip not reacting, Mars thought hard and said, "Regina plans to have the minimally invasive brain surgery in May, a month after giving birth."

Having been with Regina for years, Philip knew about her chronic headaches. But he didn't think it was so bad she needed brain surgery.

Philip asked, "How is she doing now?"

"I heard that besides causing her chronic headaches, the illness also leads to severe memory issues."

"Memory issues?"

"Yeah, like memory fuzziness, memory regression. Gradually, she might forget a lot of things that happened before."

Philip showed a thoughtful look. He said softly, almost like he was talking to himself, "Do you think she will forget Douglas?"

Mars secretly thought, 'What's Philip thinking now? Is he planning to take advantage of this?'

Mars blurted out, "If she can forget Douglas, she will definitely forget you too. No matter what, you can't win against him. Right now, in her heart, Douglas is more important than you."

He couldn't stop once he started. "They're already married, and they have two kids. Philip, please let them go. Besides, with your current state, are you trying to harm them or yourself?"

Philip calmly looked at the chatty Mars in front of him, saying nothing.

For some reason, his silence made Mars feel uneasy. After all, he had been by Philip's side for so many years, growing up together. He thought he knew Philip.

If it were the old Philip, he would have surely caused a stir.
