Chapter 195 The Gift
Regina strolled over to the bed, hesitated for a sec, then lightly touched Douglas's arm.
Seeing he didn't wake up, she bent down, got real close, and whispered, "Douglas."
Her voice was all soft and sweet, totally different from her usual tone.
Tonight, even she felt like a stranger to herself.
By chance, she glanced up and saw the floor-to-ceiling window that covered an entire wall of the room. Right now, it was like a mirror, showing her reflection clear as day.
Regina looked at herself and couldn't help but blush. The longer she stared, the more it felt like her heart was gonna jump out of her chest.
Regina snapped back to reality. She was so shy and instinctively wanted to change into another outfit and come back, but just as she was about to turn around, Douglas, lying on the bed, slowly opened his eyes.
He totally caught her panicked look and saw the alluring figure in front of him.
Douglas had already sensed something was up with Regina, so he had been faking sleep for a while.
Douglas's temples were throbbing.
She was really enticing, but she was completely unaware, just looking at him with those innocent, watery eyes, a bit flustered.
He said, "Honey, tonight you really surprised me."
Regina opened her mouth a few times but didn't say anything.
She knew her usual image had totally crumbled in front of him.
They stared at each other silently, and the air of early winter seemed to heat up and burn in an instant.
After a long while, Regina finally spoke. She didn't explain much, just blushed and asked him in a low voice, "Do you like it?"
Of course. Douglas loved it.
Douglas wrapped his arm around Regina's waist, pulling her to lie down beside him.
What Regina didn't know was that no matter what she wore, in Douglas's eyes, she was like a pure and pristine lily, blooming in his gaze.
"I like it a lot." His lips brushed against her ear, sending a tingling sensation through Regina's heart. He asked deliberately, "So, what do you plan to do next?"
But how was she supposed to answer that?
Regina stammered.
Douglas looked at her, and couldn't help but smile, "Alright, I get it."
Regina didn't say anything more.
She leaned against Douglas's broad and warm chest.
In her ear, his heartbeat sounded like intense drumbeats.
She bit her red lips and tentatively asked him, "You didn't just now..."
Probably knowing what she wanted to say, he lowered his head slightly, kissed her hair, and interrupted her, "I'm very satisfied."
Regina was in a daze, completely unable to guess the truth of his words.
She closed her eyes and remained silent for a while. Suddenly, as if she remembered something, she asked, "Were you distracted just now?"
Regina really didn't expect Douglas to start talking shop with her just now, especially when she was all caught up in the moment.
She was totally lost in desire, but Douglas was trying hard not to get too swept away. He had to force himself to think about work to keep his cool.
He admitted, "Yeah, I was thinking about some business deals and didn't dare to think about you at that moment."
He said he didn't dare.
Regina realized Douglas was always this mix of contradictions.
When he let loose, he could make you blush.
When he held back, he was like untouchable snow on a high mountain.
Regina was no match for him, just going along with his rhythm.
After a bit, she finally sat up, reached out, grabbed the beautifully wrapped gift box on the bedside table, and handed it over with a helpless smile, "Almost forgot, Douglas, this is our first wedding anniversary gift."
Honestly, Douglas felt like he had already unwrapped the best gift just now.
But when he saw what Regina was holding, he was still stoked.
Under her gaze, he opened the gift box.
Inside was a wishing bottle.
"This gift might be a bit abstract."
Regina had thought about giving him something more expensive, but he didn't seem to need those things.
Giving him this wishing bottle, Regina admitted she had put a lot of thought into it. She seriously explained how to use it, "If you have a wish you need me to fulfill, you can write it on a note and put it in the wishing bottle. I'll do everything I can to make it come true. This can be used infinitely and is absolutely effective."
Douglas chuckled lightly, thinking, what more could he wish for?
He held the wishing bottle like it was a treasure, admiring it. Suddenly, he asked her, "Can I make a wish now?"
Regina nodded eagerly, "Of course you can!"
Douglas unscrewed a pen and, without hesitation, wrote a line on the wish note.
He made his first wish, and it was his only wish.
He put it into the wishing bottle, filled with joy, "Thank you for the gift."
"It's what I'm supposed to do."
Douglas had already fulfilled so many of her wishes.
Wasn't it only fair for her to fulfill his wish?
As soon as Douglas's wish was 'placed' in the wishing bottle, Regina immediately reached in to take it out, eager to see what his first wish was and whether she could fulfill it right away.
She opened the note.
What caught her eyes was a line of strong and powerful words: [I wish for Regina to have a life of peace and happiness, never to be separated from her loved ones.]
Regina stared at the line, warmth spreading through her heart.
He said it was his wish, but his wish was all about her, protecting her in every word.
Douglas, of course, had a gift prepared for Regina as well.
However, his gift would only appear in front of Regina during the day.
