Chapter 194 Regina is Planning to Try Some New Tricks on Him Tonight.
Even though it might seem kinda pointless to bring this up now, Mars figured since he knew, he should spill the beans.
"Mr. Sterling, remember three years ago when Regina got you that watch at the Central World Trade Center?"
Mars suddenly dropped this three-year-old bomb, which might've seemed outta nowhere, but Philip was intrigued by anything related to Regina.
His eyes, which were all over the place before, suddenly got laser-focused.
Mars mentioning the watch brought back a flood of memories for Philip.
Three years ago, Regina got him a watch as a New Year's gift.
But then, outta nowhere, some scoundrel targeted her after she left the store.
The dude followed her to some sketchy spot and tried to rob her.
It was super dangerous, and Regina almost got hurt. Luckily, some random guy saved her.
Regina told Philip it was too dark to see the guy's face, and he was wearing a mask. She only saw him distract the criminal.
Regina quickly called the cops.
She and the cops searched like crazy for the guy.
But all they found was a pool of blood.
Regina was freaking out and waited at the police station for news. But the cops later told her the case was closed. The criminal died in a car crash while running away, and the guy who helped her didn't wanna be found or meet her.
Regina asked if the guy was hurt.
The cops said no.
Since the guy didn't wanna be involved anymore, Regina just asked the cops to thank him, thinking that was the end of it.
Regina had no clue there was more to the story.
Philip did some digging on his own.
Didn't take long for him to find out the "criminal" was actually someone William had set up.
At that time, Regina and Philip had been together for three years. So, Philip couldn't completely hide from William.
Maybe William thought Regina was special to Philip, and since he couldn't control Philip then, he decided to hurt Regina to give Philip a wake-up call.
Because of William's twisted game, Regina almost got seriously hurt.
She could've been raped or violently attacked if it weren't for that random guy who helped her. The consequences would've been unthinkable!
Because of that incident, Philip and Regina's relationship got all weird and unpredictable.
He knew the more he loved her, the more danger she'd be in.
He was like a walking tightrope.
When he got too close to her, he had to pull back hard to keep things balanced by keeping his distance.
Otherwise, Regina would be in danger.
So back then, his hunger for power was off the charts.
He figured the only way to steer his own life was to be the top dog.
Maybe it was his messed-up family or the constant pressure from William, but Philip ended up with a pretty shaky personality.
In that endless struggle, he eventually went nuts and totally lost her.
He'd regretted it a million times, losing his cool and saying all that nasty stuff to her at his birthday party after getting wasted. He stupidly thought she'd always love him and come back, no matter what. He forgot to make things right in time.
Now, no matter how much he regretted it, it was too late.
He looked at Mars and asked, "Why bring this up now?"
"I stumbled on it while digging into Edward. The guy who saved Regina was actually Douglas," Mars said, still in shock. "Looks like he's been into her for a long time."
Back in the day, Philip would've laughed that off.
But now, he could only think that Douglas's love for Regina was different and great.
He'd lost, fair and square.
Time had slipped into mid-November.
Winter hit Oriant City, and the temperature nosedived. It'd been raining for days, making everything cold and damp.
Regina sat in her office, staring blankly at the calendar on her desk.
She thought back to last winter when she ended her six-year relationship with Philip and married Douglas.
So much had gone down in just one year.
Especially Tasha's permanent departure, which hit her hard.
But she didn't fall apart like she thought she would. Instead, she had Douglas, two adorable babies, and the Semona family who cherished and protected her.
In two days, it would be her first wedding anniversary with Douglas.
Despite Douglas being a cold, high-speed machine at work, he always valued the little things in life. Regina often got surprises from him on ordinary days, let alone holidays and anniversaries.
She always got carefully thought-out gifts from him.
Regina had been planning for this anniversary for a while, but this time, she wanted to take the lead.
She wanted to give him the gift first.
So, she decided to surprise him at 12:01 AM on their first wedding anniversary.
Regina spent ages in the walk-in closet.
Finally, she worked up the nerve to put on the new, sexy lingerie she bought, grabbed a fancy, beautifully wrapped gift box, and gently pushed open the bedroom door.
She thought Douglas was already asleep.
But Douglas had noticed her acting weird hours ago, especially when she quietly slipped out of his arms and got out of bed. He noticed right away.
But he didn't call her out and just waited to see what she was up to.
Sure enough, she didn't let him down.
Looked like Regina was planning to try some bold new moves tonight?
