Chapter 227 The Wedding (2)

Late at night.

Matt and Lily were already out cold.

Regina lay there, kinda lost, on the big bed, struggling to fall asleep by herself.

Lately, Douglas had been pulling all-nighters, swamped with wedding prep. He was hands-on with every little detail, making sure nothing went wrong on the big day.

He'd been waiting forever for this.

The night before the wedding, there was a dinner party.

Thanks to the Semona family's connections, guests flew in from all over, gathering in Oriant City a day early.

The dinner was at a fancy manor-style hotel in Oriant City, where the wedding would be the next day.

But this wasn't just any hotel.

Douglas had built it for Regina.

The hotel was finished a year ago and even made the news. Regina probably saw it back then but didn't think much of it. After all, even though it was Douglas's project, it wasn't part of the Century Group's business.

Who would've guessed this hotel was for their wedding?

The hotel must've started construction three years ago.

They weren't even married then.

So, had he been planning their wedding venue that early?

Regina kept thinking about it, trying to remember.

But she couldn't recall much about the hotel's secret.

Half an hour before the dinner started, Regina finally saw Douglas backstage.

As soon as they met, they were all over each other, but then three loud knocks on the door interrupted them!

"Douglas, have you guys not started yet, or are you already wrapping up?" It was Charles's annoying voice.

Douglas looked down at Regina, her lips red from his kiss, his eyes full of desire.

But the knocking kept going.

He loosened his tie, walked to the door, and opened it. "Cut it out."

Charles said, "If you asked nicely, I might."

Charles glanced at Douglas's loosened tie and a certain area below. "It looks like you're trying to start the nightlife early."

Douglas was silent.

Did Charles have to butt in?

Charles smirked. Of course, he did.

Nicole peeked out from behind Charles, clearly enjoying the show.

Seeing Regina a bit embarrassed, Douglas retied his tie.

Then, he put his arm around Regina's waist. "Let's go outside and check it out."

The pre-wedding dinner was a blast.

From a distance, Regina could hear music and laughter.

Douglas took Regina to greet the guests.

But he didn't let her stay too long. He gently touched her hair, his eyes full of love.

He said, "Get some rest. I'll come get you tomorrow."

That simple sentence made Regina feel a bit dazed.

On the wedding day, Regina stayed at the villa on Springfield Road, waiting for Douglas to come get her.

With her were Miranda and Nicole.

Her two best friends would be sending her off, because she had no family.

Regina had once thought she'd hold Tasha's hand, walk towards the man who loved her deeply, and step into a beautiful future, but it was just a little short of that.

Regina sat in a chair in the room, wearing her wedding dress, with Miranda and Nicole on either side.

In the past few days, many designers had been coming in and out of the villa, helping Regina try on wedding dresses and gowns. From the pre-wedding dinner to the wedding day, the designers had prepared six gowns for Regina.

Regina looked at herself in the mirror and was very satisfied.

Nicole, standing beside her, laughed and said, "Regina, you're gonna have Douglas head over heels for you in no time."

Douglas was there every time Regina tried on a gown.

But he had never seen Regina in her wedding dress. Once, when Douglas wanted to sneak a peek, Nicole blocked him at the door, just to keep the surprise for today.

Nicole and Miranda kept checking the time.

"It's almost time!"

The grand convoy rolled through the busy streets of Oriant City and pulled up at the villa's plaza.

A bunch of people were there to pick up Regina.

Before she could even react, she saw Douglas striding confidently towards her.

With everyone watching, he held a bouquet, knelt on one knee in front of her, looked up with eyes only for her, and smiled, "Mrs. Semona, I'm here to pick you up."

Regina beamed as she took the flowers from his hand.

Even though they'd been together for two years, this wedding wasn't late.

They both knew every step they'd taken from deciding to get married until now wasn't wasted.

This wedding wasn't to make up for regrets.

It was the perfect addition.

That day, their wedding was the talk of the town. It was huge.

They said rose petals rained down along the convoy's route.

It was like Douglas was telling the whole world he finally married the love of his life.

The grand banquet hall was decorated to look like a dazzling starry sky, making it incredibly beautiful.

Tons of people showed up for the wedding.

Everyone was eagerly waiting for the bride and groom.

According to the schedule, the bride should be entering soon.

But everyone had a question.

Who would be leading the bride down the aisle?

Someone in the audience whispered, "I heard the bride's parents divorced when she was young, her mom and grandma passed away, and she's been estranged from her dad for a long time."

"Oh, what will she do? Will she have to walk up alone?"

Amid the hushed discussions, the master of ceremonies started the wedding.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to Mr. Semona and Mrs. Semona's special day. Let's celebrate the union of two beautiful souls and create lasting memories together. Without further ado, let the festivities begin!"

Wait! Everyone suddenly felt something was off. All eyes turned to the stage, full of confusion. It seemed the groom was also missing.

At this point, according to the schedule, shouldn't the groom be standing on the stage waiting for the bride?

Amid the puzzled looks, accompanied by the romantic wedding march, the bride walked in arm-in-arm with the groom!

Regina stood beside Douglas, following him step by step towards the center of the stage.

Everyone present, seeing Douglas leading Regina forward step by step, couldn't help but get teary-eyed.

Especially the Semona family members.

Regina held tightly onto Douglas's hand.

She knew she didn't need anyone to lead her and place her hand in his.

He would hold her hand from beginning to end, walking through life together.

When they reached the center and stood facing each other, they both smiled knowingly.

Only then did everyone realize what was happening.

"Mrs. Semona, you look beautiful today."

Regina wore a pure white wedding dress, with a veil draped down to her waist, holding a bouquet in her hands.

Her vision was somewhat obscured by the thin veil, but she could still clearly feel the deep affection and love in his eyes.

She smiled slightly.

At that moment, happiness took a tangible form on her.

In the presence of family and friends, they completed the grand and sacred wedding ceremony.

Regina quietly calmed her heartbeat and emotions before she began to speak her vows, though her voice still carried a slight tremble.

"Dear Douglas, I am so happy to stand by your side. Thank you for your love and patience, for helping me become the person I always hoped to be. I am blessed to be your bride, and I hope we can spend our lives together."

Although reserved and not very talkative, Regina said a lot that day.

Her final words were, "I love you, forever and always."

As she finished, the tear she had been holding back finally fell, sliding down her cheek.

Douglas lifted her veil, bent down, and kissed away her tears.

Her presence had brightened his life.

Marrying her was his good fortune.

The master of ceremonies asked Douglas, "And Mr. Semona, do you have anything you would like to say to your wife?"
