Chapter 171 Clumsy
Douglas was suppressing the surge of desire within him when Regina suddenly said something that almost made him lose control.
"Mrs. Semona."
"Hmm?"
He chuckled helplessly. "You're going to be the death of me."
Regina blushed, her heart racing.
She wanted him to feel pleasure.
But in fact, Regina's "service" that night was not up to par.
She had been trying hard to learn, but she lacked a bit of talent. No matter how hard she tried, it still seemed a bit off.
The next day, when Douglas got up, Regina was still asleep.
On weekend mornings, he had a habit of exercising.
He spent two hours in the gym on the third floor of the villa, working up a sweat before he felt a bit more relaxed.
The energy he had last night, instead of being released with Regina's enthusiastic "help," had only intensified, so he had to vent it through exercise.
After his shower, Regina was still lying in bed, showing no signs of waking up.
Douglas looked at this scene, feeling a bit helpless.
He thought, 'Besides making her hand sore last night, I didn't seem to have done much else, right?'
But she looked so tired.
Douglas didn't disturb her, just sat quietly by the bed with his phone.
He opened Dougal's Twitter account.
On this account, he would share "daily life with the wife" every now and then.
A Twitter account verified as a voice actor seemed to have been forcibly turned into a love-sharing account by him.
No one would believe this.
Even the Semona family and his childhood friends Charles, Michael, and Josh, would never guess that this account was run by Douglas.
After all, it was so different from his previous personality.
No one would have ever guessed that Douglas had such an obscure and seemingly incongruous hobby as voice acting, nor could anyone have imagined that he would dedicate so much time and effort to it, approaching it with such seriousness and focus and mastering it to perfection.
But Douglas knew the real reason behind all of it, and there was only one purpose for everything he did.
That purpose was to ensure that Regina could see him in a new light.
Because yesterday evening, Regina had posted an ultrasound photo on Twitter, announcing her pregnancy, the internet had been buzzing with excitement from last night until now.
Douglas rarely had the leisure to scroll through the comments one by one.
There were no strange voices, only comments of blessings.
Douglas saw a comment.
It was long and sincere.
[@CatAt1AM: I have severe insomnia, and every night I fall asleep listening to some beautiful voices. I've listened to the 'Post-Nuptial Passion' radio drama at least ten times recently. I've been following Regina and Dougal's radio dramas for seven years now! I never expected that after seven years, the two people I've been following would end up together! Seven years is such a long time. It's a wonderful feeling, like planting a seed in the soil and watching it sprout and grow. Although it took seven years, at least it has finally borne fruit, right? I wish I could see Regina and Dougal together someday. I'm so curious to know what the people I've been following for seven years look like.]
Seven years?
Douglas's affection might have started even a bit earlier than that.
Looking at the dense text on the screen, Douglas felt a moment of emotion.
He retweeted the comment on his Twitter account and typed: [That day will come, and you won't have to wait long.]
As soon as the message was out, Dougal and Regina's fans were thrilled!
[Does Dougal mean we'll soon see him and Regina together?]
[Ahhh, can I hope for a family of four together?]
[By then, Regina will be beautiful, and Dougal will be holding a baby in each arm. What a picture!]
Regina slowly opened her eyes and woke up from the bed.
"Good morning, Mrs. Semona."
Hearing Douglas' gentle voice, Regina glanced at the clock on the wall. It was almost ten o'clock.
She smiled a bit embarrassedly. "Good morning."
In the early stages of pregnancy, Regina could eat and sleep well, and her mood was getting better.
Even Douglas couldn't help but praise that the little ones were so well-behaved, not causing Regina any suffering.
"It's still early."
Regina wasn't being overly anxious; it's just that pregnancy was a long process, and she was only a little over eight weeks in.
Sure enough, when Regina was three months pregnant, some uncomfortable symptoms started to appear.
The most obvious one was that she didn't feel like eating much.
While others might experience nausea and poor appetite in the early stages of pregnancy, she had these reactions after the first three months.
To make sure she ate something, Douglas instructed the cook to prepare various delicious dishes for her, but it didn't seem to work.
So, he decided to take her out to eat at a restaurant.
Suddenly, Regina said, "How about we go to the area near my old apartment? There's a food street there with some of my favorite places."
Without a second thought, Douglas took Regina back to her old place, which she hadn't visited in a long time.
The late summer and early autumn evenings in Oriant City were quite pleasant.
They chose a restaurant.
The restaurant's decor was simple, and it was quite crowded when they arrived. Fortunately, the food was served quickly, and within ten minutes, the dishes they ordered started arriving one after another.
"This stir-fried beef is one of their signature dishes, and so is the chicken."
The dishes looked and smelled delicious, and Regina ate quite a lot for a change.
Douglas instinctively said, "If you really enjoy the food here, we should just hire this chef to cook at home."
Regina shook her head quickly, replying, "No need. I'm fine with coming here occasionally when I want to eat."
Douglas appeared to agree on the surface, but behind the scenes, he took another approach. He discreetly paid the chef for the recipes of Regina's favorite dishes. Once back home, he spent a considerable amount of time studying them, and eventually, he managed to recreate those dishes perfectly. He began making them for her regularly.
Douglas was the kind of person who, when he put his mind to something, was bound to succeed. And more often than not, he achieved success effortlessly.
However, the one area where he seemed to be "slow" and somewhat "clumsy" was in matters of love—specifically, in his pursuit of Regina.
