Chapter 133 Is Mrs. Semona Pregnant

Regina didn't think much at first. She reflexively explained to him, "I really can't eat anything right now, sorry. Can I skip the meal?"

Douglas didn't respond to her comment. Instead, he asked, "Is your period two days late?"

With his words, Regina swiftly apprehended the reason behind his earlier tense expression.

Regina was momentarily at a loss because she quickly realized that beneath Douglas's nervousness, there was a hint of restrained anticipation and excitement.

"A period being two days late or two days early is normal. My periods have never been very regular..."

Honestly, her periods had become much more regular since she started being with Douglas.

After all, periods were easily influenced by emotions, stress, sleep patterns, and many other external factors.

"Let's go to the hospital for a check-up now."

"No, there's no need..." Regina's voice unintentionally became softer, as if she lacked confidence. "I just feel a bit tired today. My stomach is a bit upset. Maybe after a bath and some rest, I'll feel better tomorrow. If I still feel unwell tomorrow, we can go to the hospital. As for your concern about whether I'm pregnant, I think we should wait a bit longer..."

If she were to visit the hospital solely due to her period being two days late, the doctor would likely perceive it as an exaggerated concern.

Regina calmly reassured the person in front of her, "If it still hasn't come in three to five days, we can use a pregnancy test first. If... I am really pregnant, then we can go to the hospital. Is that okay?"

Douglas nodded slightly. "Alright, we'll do as you say."

He agreed lightly on the surface, but in fact, deep down, he was already in turmoil.

So, in the following days, Regina noticed a change in Douglas's attitude.

Of course, it wasn't only Regina who noticed the situation; many people within the company were also aware of it.

For instance, he would ask Regina every day if she felt unwell or if her period had come.

Or, one day, when Dorothy entered his office, she found him unusually distracted during work hours.

Some even said that one day after work, employees saw Douglas at a nearby pharmacy.

Everyone assumed he was purchasing medicine for an ailment, but little did they know that he was actually buying a pregnancy test!

'So, could Mrs. Semona be pregnant?'

Just as everyone was subtly keeping an eye on this matter, Regina's period came four days late.

When Regina decided to tell him, she inexplicably felt like a child who had done something wrong. "I'm sorry, my period came. I'm not pregnant."

When Douglas saw her come out of the bathroom and heard her say this, he was stunned for a few seconds, then chuckled lightly and instinctively patted her on the head. "If you're not pregnant, you're not pregnant. Why say sorry?"

Or rather, he should be the one apologizing.

He had somewhat failed to control his emotions regarding this matter.

Regina looked up and cautiously asked him, "Do you want a child?"

Douglas naturally wanted a child.

But Regina wasn't just a tool for childbirth; what she wanted was most important.

Just as Douglas was about to say something, she spoke first, "I actually want a child too."

About two months ago, Regina had this thought.

In the past two months, she and Douglas had had sex many times. Except for once in the office and another time when she took some headache medicine, most of the time, they didn't use contraception. So why hadn't she gotten pregnant?

Regina wondered if there was something wrong with her body.

After all, Douglas seemed perfectly healthy.

Regina stood in front of him, lost in thought for a while.

Douglas wrapped his arm around her waist and led her to the bed. "Mrs. Semona, don't feel any pressure. If you want, I'll try harder."

Regina blushed. "Does that mean we'll have to have sex every day?"

Douglas laughed. "Getting pregnant isn't just about frequency."

Regina pulled the blanket over her head and said no more.

His eyes were filled with affection, and he gently reassured her by her ear. "If it's something you want, it will definitely happen."

Regina understood that if they had a child, the child would grow up in a very happy family.

Douglas would definitely be a great father.

The following day, when Regina was at work, she felt somewhat unwell.

Her periods sometimes caused severe pain.

She sat at her desk, pale and frowning.

Janet came over and saw Regina's pained expression. She instinctively asked, "What's wrong with you?"

Regina answered truthfully, "I have some menstrual cramps."

Janet was a bit surprised and lowered her voice. "Wait, you're not pregnant?"

Both of them froze for a moment.

Janet realized she had said something wrong. She had an awkward smile and wanted to explain but didn't know where to start.

"If you're not feeling well, should I give you some time off?"

Regina was still processing Janet's slip of the tongue and slowly shook her head. "No need."

Janet lowered her voice even further, assuring Regina, "Don't worry. I won't say anything."

'So, Janet knew something? She must have. Otherwise, she wouldn't have asked, "You're not pregnant?" after hearing about Douglas buying a pregnancy test and then hearing about my period.'

Realizing this, Regina was initially shocked, but then she calmed herself as if nothing had happened.

Soon, Janet placed a document on Regina's desk. "Do you want to go to the CEO's office?"

Janet thought that if Regina couldn't rest openly in the office, she could at least take a break in the CEO's office.

Regina hesitated for a long time.

Janet added, "Only Mr. Semona is in the CEO's office right now."

But Regina was well aware of the importance of separating personal matters from work. She didn't want to do such things.

If word got out, it wouldn't be good for them.

She held her stomach, shook her head, and after a while, feeling a bit better, she continued working.

Finally, when it was time to leave, Melissa, who hadn't contacted her in a long time, made a video call, ruining her moment of relief.

After Regina changed her phone number last time, she hadn't told Melissa.

But they still had their previous social media contacts.

And since Regina had once called Sandra to ask about Philip, her new number was exposed.

Not blocking Melissa's contact was a mistake Regina admitted to making repeatedly.

This time, Regina stared at the screen for a prolonged moment before finally ending the call.

The relationship was already messy enough, and with Philip now involved, Regina had no energy or interest to deal with it.

Melissa, unable to reach her by phone, sent a long voice message.

In a sorrowful tone Regina had never heard before, Melissa said, "Regina, I... I went to the hospital today. I'm sick. Don't worry. I didn't call for any other reason. I just... Can I see you one more time? I'm not sure how much longer I can hold on."
