Chapter 199 Mrs. Semona is So Good at Flirting

Douglas had to drag himself to the office today. Even though it was almost the end of the year and some folks were already kicking back on holiday, he still had some loose ends to tie up. He'd been burning the midnight oil these past few days.

This morning, he did manage to get up early, but Regina kept him pinned to the bed.

He lost track of time.

He satisfied her needs, then hastily attended to his own.

Out of nowhere, Douglas felt like he was running on empty, both physically and mentally. If he could, he'd just stay in bed with her all day.

Even if they weren't getting it on, just chilling would be cool.

"What am I gonna do?" Douglas twirled a strand of Regina's long hair around his finger. "I really don't wanna go to the office today."

His voice was raspy, his handsome brows slightly furrowed, and his eyes had that look of unfulfilled desire.

Regina, though, wasn't having any of it. She said, "That's not an option. The year's almost over. If you don't handle this stuff now, it'll spill into next year and mess up some projects."

After a moment of hesitation and seeing no reaction from him, Regina gave him a light kiss on the lips and softened her voice, "Hang in there, darling."

Douglas stayed silent.

How had he never noticed before that Regina was so good at flirting?

"Alright, I'll go to work."

He said it, but he still held her in his arms for a long time.

When Douglas finally left, Regina glanced at the time and thought to herself that he was gonna be two hours late today, which was pretty rare.

Not long after, Regina got up too.

After freshening up, she headed to the study, grabbed a thick stack of books and materials, and started reading intently.

It wasn't work-related.

She actually had a dream in her heart.

After graduating from Normon University, she had a shot at interning at the State Department, but her "family" had messed it up. This had always been a regret for Regina.

She had once shelved this dream in her heart.

But after meeting Douglas, it seemed like he was always telling her that if she had a wish, she should go for it.

This dream might not come true immediately, but she needed to be ready for it no matter what.

Regina was so absorbed in her reading that by the time she snapped out of it, it was already noon.

A servant came to the study to call her for lunch.

Regina didn't eat much. Lately, she had been eating smaller meals more often. The doctor said this would help with digestion and absorption, control weight, and stabilize blood sugar.

Regina thought that if she could control her blood sugar, she wouldn't feel dizzy in the office like last time.

However, what Regina didn't expect was that the moment she stood up after eating, she felt dizzy again.

She steadied herself on the edge of the dining table, lowered her head, and waited for a while, but there was no improvement.

Regina forced herself to endure the discomfort and returned to her room.

She lay on the bed, her thoughts drifting away like the wind.

In just a moment, her mind started to wander aimlessly.

She took out her phone and started searching for something online. The more she read, the more serious her expression became.

At one in the afternoon, the servant Emily Thompson saw Regina step out of her room.

She was rocking a beige coat and had some light but flawless makeup on.

"Mrs. Semona, you..."

"I'm heading out for a bit."

"Let me call Orlando over."

Orlando Wolf was their driver.

Seeing Emily about to make the call, Regina calmly stopped her, "I've got a friend picking me up. No need to call Orlando."

Emily hesitated, "But Mr. Semona..."

"I already told him." Regina glanced at a text on her phone, "My friend's already here."

With that, Emily's worries eased.

She followed Regina out the door and saw her off into a red sedan.

Inside the car was Miranda.

As Regina opened the passenger door and got in, Miranda looked excited, "Long time no see, Regina."

Since Regina had been promoted to executive assistant, she seemed busier. They used to grab meals now and then, but it had been ages since they last hung out.

Miranda gripped the steering wheel happily, saying gently to Regina's belly, "Little darlings, buckle up. I'll take you out to play!"

Regina smiled helplessly, "Miranda."

"What's up, Regina?"

Regina's voice was slightly hoarse. She paused for a few seconds before speaking, "I called you out today because I need you to take me to the hospital."

"Hospital?"

Miranda's mind seemed to freeze. She stammered, "What do you mean, Regina? I don't get it."

Was Regina feeling unwell?

If so, given how much Douglas cared for her, he should be the one taking her to the hospital.

So why did Regina call her out under the pretense of hanging out, only to ask her to go to the hospital?

Miranda's mind was in a whirl.

She glanced at Regina and noticed an unfamiliar look of gloom and disappointment in her eyes, "Let's talk when we get to the hospital."

Upon hearing this, Miranda felt a surge of unease.

She felt anxious and drove in silence.

When they arrived at the hospital, something even more baffling happened.

Regina didn't make an appointment with an obstetrician but with a neurologist!

Miranda was completely stunned.

At that moment, Regina walked over to her and said something strange, "Miranda, promise me you won't tell anyone, especially Douglas, about our visit to the hospital today, okay?"

Sanity told Miranda that this was not okay!

Regina must be going through something!

But looking into Regina's eyes, Miranda impulsively nodded.

She watched as Regina followed the doctor into the examination room.

The examination process was long.

Miranda felt like her heart was being grilled on an iron plate. She took out her phone several times, finding Douglas's number and wanting to call him, but then she thought, Regina's results aren't out yet. It wouldn't be good to suddenly disturb Douglas.

She could only take a deep breath and pray.

Two hours later, Regina finished all her tests and received all the results.

She sat in the doctor's office, watching the doctor carefully go through page after page of the reports.

After a long time, she heard the doctor let out a soft sigh.
