Chapter 207 Too Risky for Both Her And the Babies
Regina had some physiological needs during her pregnancy.
Douglas still remembered those days vividly. He kissed every inch of her body with such tenderness, like he was worshipping her.
When his lips reached her lower belly, he felt the twins inside her move. That was the first time he felt them kick.
They both froze, caught up in a whirlwind of emotions.
The first kick was quick. After that, they didn't feel much movement for a while. Maybe the babies were just being lazy. One night, Regina jokingly suggested they try again like that day.
Thinking back, Douglas couldn't help but laugh.
This time, the babies moved for what felt like forever. When they finally settled down, Douglas pulled his hand away from Regina's belly.
He took Regina to the hospital.
First, they went for a prenatal check-up. Everything was normal, but the doctor said the babies were a bit big and they should come in every week. If she felt any discomfort, they needed to head to the hospital right away and be ready for an early delivery.
After the check-up, Regina thought they were going home so she could nap, but the car wasn't heading home.
Soon, they stopped at another hospital.
"Didn't we just finish the check-up?" Regina seemed to have forgotten again.
Her memory was getting worse, even more than after her near-drowning incident years ago.
Douglas gently touched her head, comforting her, "Your headaches haven't gotten better; we need to keep up with the treatment, okay?"
Regina closed her eyes, gathering her thoughts. When she opened them, she was calm. "I understand."
She followed Douglas into the hospital. Top brain specialists from all over were there for her consultation.
While waiting for the results, Regina dozed off in the lounge.
She was already sleepy from the pregnancy, and with her head hurting, she couldn't stay awake. So Douglas let her rest. Douglas talked with the doctors for almost an hour.
The doctor confirmed again. "Given Mrs. Semona's condition, May is the best time for the surgery."
Usually, the sooner the better. But Regina was carrying twins, and at this stage, inducing labor or doing surgery was too risky for both her and the babies. They had to wait until May.
After the doctor finished, he waited but didn't hear a response. Looking up, he saw Douglas, who should've been excited about the future, sitting there with an unlit cigarette, looking defeated.
The doctor sighed, thinking, 'Life can be so unfair sometimes.'
The doctor added, "Mr. Semona, you don't need to worry too much. For now, what's in Mrs. Semona's brain is benign. After a minimally invasive surgery to remove it, the chances of it coming back are very low."
Douglas's frown didn't ease at the doctor's words. The doctor had reassured him many times about the safety of both Regina and the babies. But Douglas was still worried because he had read Regina's diary about it.
