Chapter 147 Mr. Semona Is Actually Wearing a Wedding Ring
Jason followed Douglas to the study upstairs. Regina's gaze followed them until they were out of sight, and then she gradually turned away.
In the study, Jason meticulously reported last night's events to Douglas, "I've already had Mrs. Semona's mother and sister controlled; they won't dare cause any more trouble. Philip is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. Under Edward's coercion, he severed three tendons in his hand himself." At this point, Jason glanced at Douglas' expression, but Douglas seemed indifferent, revealing nothing.
Finally, Jason added, "His hand probably...won't recover. His left hand is essentially useless."
From last night until now, neither Douglas nor Regina had mentioned anything related to 'Philip.'
Douglas asked, "Do you know the specific details of what happened?"
Jason had already had the specifics extracted. And the so-called specifics were directly extracted from Edward's own mouth.
Last night's rooftop transaction had turned Edward into a trapped rat; he had to say and do everything.
"After Edward got the equity transfer documents for the Heyday Group, he still had concerns. Given Philip's methods, Philip would definitely try to take it back. Edward thought the best way to eliminate future troubles was to cripple him completely. A disabled person wouldn't have the ability to cause trouble, so he proposed a series of 'additional conditions' like severing his tendons. Philip..." Jason carefully chose his words. "Philip agreed to his conditions."
Jason believed Douglas understood his consent without explanation.
"After Philip severed three tendons in his left hand, Edward wanted Mrs. Semona to sever the tendons in Philip's right hand. If she did it, Edward would let her go."
Now that Philip's right hand wasn't crippled, it proved that Regina hadn't done it.
She had chosen not to act, even if it meant giving up her chance to leave.
Jason feared that his reasoning could endanger both Douglas' and Regina's relationship.
He couldn't help but overthink. He didn't expect Douglas to be more open-minded than he was.
"She didn't want to harm Philip, not because of old feelings, but because her morals wouldn't allow her to become a blood-stained criminal. Of course, she would hesitate and struggle because she was implicated and wanted to survive."
But during her brief struggle, Edward suddenly changed his mind.
Jason couldn't help but admire Douglas' calm and composure.
When it came to Regina, even if he was furious, he would still put himself in her shoes.
Jason didn't say more on the matter.
Because Douglas already knew right from wrong.
Later, Jason discussed some company matters with Douglas before leaving.
After Jason left, Douglas accompanied Regina for a walk in the villa's back garden.
Regina didn't ask a single word about what he had discussed with Jason.
He had gone to the study with Jason, evidently preferring she remain unaware. If she kept pressing, it wouldn't make much sense.
"In the study, I mainly talked to Jason about some company matters. We also talked a bit about Philip."
Douglas must have seen through her thoughts and didn't hide anything. "His left hand is crippled."
Upon hearing this, Regina's face showed little emotion.
And that was the end of it.
Although she planned to rest for a week, Regina only stayed home for two days before going back to work.
She felt her hand injury wasn't that serious; it was just Douglas being overly worried.
In the morning, as soon as Regina entered the office, all eyes turned to her.
Regina discreetly moved her bandaged hand behind her. She thought it must be the bandage that was drawing attention.
"Oh my God, Regina, are you trying to blind me?"
Regina was puzzled and hadn't had time to think deeply when she heard a series of exclamations.
"It's really big!"
"How much did that cost?"
"Is that a wedding ring?"
"It's on her ring finger; what else could it be?"
Regina, upon overhearing the discussions, realized their focus was on the wedding ring adorning her left ring finger, crafted by Douglas.
A wave of confusion spread through her, but she steadied herself and didn't try to hide anything.
She slightly curled her lips and admitted, "It's a wedding ring."
"Regina, you've been hiding this well!"
Judging by the ring, Regina's spouse must be someone very wealthy.
After all, the cost of that diamond ring alone could allow many people to retire.
Regina returned to her desk.
Since it wasn't work hours yet, everyone gathered around, too shocked and curious to stay away.
"Regina, this isn't fair. We're all colleagues, and you kept your marriage a secret? I wanted to give you a wedding gift."
"We haven't had the wedding yet."
"When will it be? Let us know."
Everyone chatted excitedly.
For them, giving a gift was a small matter; they mainly wanted to see who Regina had married.
Seeing Regina surrounded like a star, Lucia felt a pang of jealousy.
'Who could Regina have married? It must be some old, wealthy guy.'
A couple of years ago, Lucia had read about such cases online: a young, beautiful but unknown actress married a sixty-something real estate mogul, Mekal, and became famous nationwide.
Last year, the actress even had a child with the mogul, who gave her a lot of his wealth.
'What else could she be after if not money and fame?'
The more Lucia thought about it, the more convinced she was that Regina was the same.
'Besides being pretty, what other qualities did Regina have?'
But soon, Lucia couldn't help but recall things she had never wanted to think about.
Regina graduated from a top university, was fluent in several languages, and possessed exceptional work skills, often surpassing others. As for her character, although Regina was initially cold and not well-liked, more and more people had started to gather around her.
And it wasn't to mock her. They were genuinely drawn to her.
But Lucia still couldn't believe that Regina had found such a great man!
Regina was surrounded by colleagues for a while, almost overwhelmed, but fortunately, it was time to start work, and everyone dispersed.
Meanwhile, those who saw Douglas today immediately noticed something unusual.
"No way? Mr. Semona is wearing a wedding ring?"
