Chapter 201 I Hope I Never Forget You in This Lifetime

Regina's heart did a little flip, but she played it cool and switched gears, "Oh, you mean that thing this morning when I tried to put the moves on you?"

Her cheeky question left Douglas totally speechless.

"Mr. Semona, maybe tonight, I'll be even more of a handful," As she said it, Regina sauntered over, looking like she was ready to mess with him again.

Douglas held back and wrapped an arm around her waist, murmuring, "Cut it out."

Only then did Regina ease up on the 'crisis.'

He raised a hand and gave her a gentle pat on the head. "Studying's important, but it comes second to your health, got it? You're pregnant now, don't push yourself too hard."

The word 'health' hit Regina like a ton of bricks.

She knew she and Douglas needed to be totally honest with each other. She had stashed away the medical report, but eventually, she would have to show it to him.

Right now, he was riding high on their marriage and the idea of becoming a dad. She just couldn't bring herself to burst his bubble.

Regina felt a wave of sadness. After everything they'd been through to be together, this happened .

She wanted to cry, but since leaving the doctor's office today, she hadn't found the right moment. Her mind was a mess, like a tangled ball of yarn.

Despite the turmoil inside, she looked up at him with a bright smile. "I get it. But it's still early. Can I read a bit more alone? I'll take a bath and hit the sack after."

Douglas glanced at the clock in the study. "Read for another forty minutes, then take a bath at 9:30, okay? If you need help, just holler."

Regina's belly was getting bigger, and sometimes it was a hassle to bathe alone. He was also worried something might go wrong.

Regina nodded. After Douglas left the study, she went back to her desk. She pulled out a brand-new notebook from the drawer and picked up a pen, writing carefully.

Soon, the fresh pages were filled with neat handwriting.

Regina decided to jot down everything that happened each day, like a diary, so she wouldn't forget. She wondered if this would help her remember in the future.

Regina spent a full forty minutes writing about today's events. After finishing, she headed to the bathroom.

Douglas was already waiting there.

Regina walked over and stood in front of him. He helped her undress, just like always.

In the bathroom, a thin layer of steam filled the air. Regina stood under the shower with her back to Douglas, letting the water flow over her head. It was at that moment that she finally let herself cry a little.

The tears quickly mixed with the water and washed away.

Because of her headache, Regina had another rough night trying to sleep.

For the next three days, Douglas kept working late, while Regina stayed home.

Emily noticed that Regina had been acting off these past few days. She mostly stayed in the study and rarely went out. Normally, she'd go for walks or attend prenatal classes.

Emily kept a close eye on Regina's mood. During lunch, she cautiously asked, "Mrs. Semona, are you feeling down?"

Regina thought, 'Am I that easy to read? Will Douglas see right through me when he gets back?'

She forced a smile. "I'm a bit off, but it's no biggie. Please don't tell him, okay?"

Emily figured Regina just didn't want to stress Douglas out. She nodded understandingly. "It's normal to have mood swings when you're pregnant. My daughter was a mess of tears when she was expecting."

Regina just kept eating, not saying a word.

In the afternoon, Elizabeth called to ask if she'd thought about that thing from last time.

Regina's mind went blank. She racked her brain but still couldn't remember, so she apologized, "Sorry, Mom, what were you talking about? I can't quite recall."

Elizabeth was taken aback for a moment but quickly recovered.

"Regina, did you forget? I called you a couple of days ago about postpartum care. I checked out a few hospitals and asked if you had a preference. You said you wanted to think about it.

If you don't want to go to a hospital, you can hire some midwives or obstetric nurses to take care of you at home." Even though Regina's due date was still three months away, Elizabeth had already planned everything down to the last detail. "Postpartum care is super important. You can't take it lightly."

Listening to Elizabeth's gentle and caring words, Regina felt a warm glow in her heart. "Mom, you can pick a hospital for me."

"Alright, I'll handle it. I've got experience with this," Elizabeth sighed, "Regina, it's been tough for you lately. Just focus on resting and delivering a healthy baby. That's my biggest wish."

Regina's eyes welled up as she responded.

Everyone was so excited for the baby's arrival, and so was she. So, everything should be decided after the baby was born.

The only thing that made Regina happy these days was waiting for Douglas to come home from work.

Finally, he wrapped up his last day of work. He'd have a two-week vacation.

The second day of Douglas's vacation was New Year's Eve. That evening, they were heading to the Semona Estate for dinner.

The Semona Estate was buzzing with people. After dinner, little Nancy toddled over to Regina. "Regina! Let's go set off fireworks!"

Regina looked at the adorable Nancy and couldn't help but smile. She quickly agreed.

The two of them headed to the fountain square outside.

Douglas knew Regina loved fireworks, so he always found ways to surprise her.

Like tonight's fireworks show—it was his big love declaration.

Roses and diamond-shaped fireworks lit up the night sky one after another, and their names sparkled in the sky. This love declaration was visible to everyone around.

"No way, Douglas, you're doing something this cheesy?" Nicole teased, but she was snapping dozens of beautiful photos with her phone.

Regina looked up at the fireworks, lost in thought.

Douglas leaned down and asked, "What are you thinking about?"

Regina replied, "Making a wish."

Douglas was caught off guard for a second before he asked, "What did you wish for?"

Regina smiled and said firmly, "I hope I never forget you in this lifetime."
