Chapter 221 Sudden Emergency Incident

Douglas hit the office today to tackle some piled-up tasks. On his way back, he swung by a flower shop for a bunch of vibrant roses and grabbed a cheesecake from a dessert shop—her favorite.

"These are for Mrs. Semona," he said, handing over the flowers and cake.

Regina's face lit up as she took them. "Thank you, Mr. Semona."

Seeing her smile, Douglas thought even the bright roses couldn't compete with her glow.

Their eyes locked, full of deep affection, making the air around them feel sweet.

Miranda and Janet, catching this moment, felt like they were intruding. They quickly stood up. "We won't disturb you then."

As Miranda was about to leave, she couldn't help but add, "Regina, on behalf of the fans of Post-Nuptial Passion and the fans of Dougal and Regina, we really hope to see you two together on screen someday! Looking forward to it!"

With that, Miranda made a quick exit, not waiting for Regina's response.

Douglas turned to Regina, puzzled. "What did she mean by that?"

Regina filled him in on the whole situation.

Douglas suddenly remembered something. He'd once seen a comment under Dougal's Twitter. A fan had said she was a loyal follower of Dougal and Regina, had listened to "Post-Nuptial Passion" more than ten times, and had been following them for seven years. She was thrilled to see them together after all that time.

What stuck with Douglas was the fan's comment about their seven-year relationship. She compared it to a seed planted in the soil, slowly sprouting and growing. It took a long seven years, but it was worth it to see it finally bear fruit.

Moved by the comment, Douglas had replied: [That day will come, and you won't have to wait long.]

Fans were ecstatic about his promise.

Recalling this, Douglas gently raised his hand and softly caressed Regina's face. "When you're ready, shall we promise them?"

"Hmm?" Regina was a bit slow to catch on but soon realized he meant the fans of Dougal and Regina.

Without overthinking, she agreed. Though they were well-known in their circle, they had always kept a low profile. But many people genuinely loved their voices and story. Regina thought, 'I shouldn't let down the fans' affection.'

After being discharged from the hospital, Regina's health gradually improved, and life started to get lively. Douglas brought Matt and Lily from the Semona Estate. The little kids, just a few months old, loved to cling to Regina and act spoiled.

As Regina's condition got better, Douglas also went back to his regular work schedule. But he no longer worked overtime, spending all his free time with Regina and the kids.

One Friday after work, Douglas was about to leave the office when Jason rushed in, blocking his way. "Mr. Semona, there's something urgent."

"Whatever it is, it can wait until tomorrow," Douglas said, thinking it was just another company issue. He knew all the urgent stuff had been handled today. But Jason wasn't the type to overreact. If he was stopping him, it had to be serious.

Douglas read the urgency in Jason's eyes and sat back down. "Alright, spill it."

"Mr. Semona, do you remember Fred?"

Naturally, Douglas remembered Fred. They had only met once, but it was an unforgettable encounter. Fred was the guy who cheated on and abandoned his wife and daughter, then showed up at Tasha's deathbed pretending to care, all while scheming to grab her inheritance. That day, Fred had bullied Regina, and Douglas, in a fit of rage, had beaten him up and ruined his company.

Douglas squinted, lost in thought for a moment, then snapped back. "Go on."

"After Fred's company went under, his wife took their kids abroad, married an old man, and took all his remaining assets. Fred's been on the edge of madness for the past year."

Jason's urgency made sense now. Fred was probably about to cause trouble for Regina.

Seeing Douglas understood, Jason cut to the chase. "After you and Regina went public, Mr. Leo Semona held that high-profile banquet. The whole country knew about it."

Fred, hearing the news, was stunned. The daughter he despised had married the richest man in the country? He frantically tried to contact Regina, but she was now out of his reach.

"This afternoon, Fred made a move," Jason continued. "He tried to contact the media, hoping Mrs. Semona would acknowledge him as her father. But no media outlet dared to touch his story and rejected him outright. Somehow, he then got in touch with Sandra."

Sandra was known for stirring up trouble. Jason didn't know their exact plan but sensed something was off, so he reported it to Douglas.

"Mr. Semona, how should we handle this?"

Douglas sneered, his eyes sharp as knives. "Don't you know how to handle it?"

Jason, having been by Douglas's side for so long, knew exactly what to do. He nodded immediately. "Got it, Mr. Semona."

Douglas wasn't about to give them any time to scheme.

When Douglas got home, Regina had just put Matt and Lily to bed. He glanced at the clock; it was only seven. The kids usually didn't sleep until eight or nine.

"Why are they asleep already?"

"Maybe they played too much today," Regina said, still in good spirits despite being with the kids all day. She walked up and took Douglas's arm, looking up at him. "Can you come to the bedroom with me?"

"The bedroom?" Douglas chuckled, his eyes filled with affection. "Mrs. Semona, you might give me the wrong idea."

Regina smiled. "You're not mistaken."

Douglas fell silent. She wasn't letting him misunderstand at all.

Once they were in the bedroom, they shared a passionate kiss.
