Chapter 114 Found Evidence of His Crush

Regina's heart leapt with joy, and she quickly asked, "Is everything fixed?"

"No," the other person replied helplessly. "Of the five phones you sent, two are too old to power on, and of the remaining three. One can't have its data recovered."

'So, out of the five old phones I sent, only two were usable?' she thought.

Despite this, Regina still felt content.

"Alright, I'll be right over!"

Hanging up the phone, Regina immediately drove straight to the phone store.

She took the two repaired old phones as if they were treasures and went home to charge and power them on.

Regina didn't have much memory of these two old phones, but after checking the models and release dates, she found that one was released three years ago and the other six years ago.

Based on the release dates, Regina thought that one might have been used after she graduated from college, and the other possibly during her sophomore or junior year?

After all, she didn't know if she had bought these phones when they were new or after they had been on the market for a while.

Regina flipped through the two phones from start to finish.

She first opened the photo album.

She wasn't someone who loved taking photos, so there weren't many pictures in the album. The person who appeared the most was probably Philip.

Regina thoroughly deleted all the photos related to him.

She didn't find any obvious traces of Douglas in the photos, but she did see some pictures and videos of the Northern Lights.

Seeing these, Regina suddenly felt certain that the post that Douglas made six years ago about wanting to see the Northern Lights with someone was definitely related to her.

Thinking of this, Regina felt a pang of bitterness.

She kept asking herself, 'Why couldn't I remember anything?'

The harder she tried to recall, the more her head felt like it was going to explode.

She knew she had memory issues.

But why did she lose the memories related to him?

Regina couldn't fathom how such a loving and protective man could have been part of her previously dull and dark life.

She also couldn't understand how, if she had experienced the light and warmth he brought, she could have forgotten him so easily.

It was unfair and cruel to him.

She didn't know how Douglas had managed to suppress his emotions, pretend not to know her, and gradually come into her life, marry her, and start this new journey.

Regina sat on the couch, staring blankly at the phone screen, feeling a tight knot in her stomach.

Molly seemed to sense her low spirits and lay at her feet with a ball, gently nudging her leg as if to comfort her.

Regina lowered her gaze and petted Molly's furry head.

Continuing to search, Regina went through the contacts and text messages on the phone.

The contacts list had only about forty or fifty numbers, all familiar to Regina, nothing worth looking at. However, there were thousands of text messages.

Regina didn't want to miss any details.

So, she opened each message to read.

She didn't know how long she had been scrolling when she came across a special message.

It was from an unknown number, sent four years ago.

Regina checked the exact time and roughly estimated that it was the day she graduated from college and took her graduation photos.

The message read: [Happy graduation. Wishing you a bright future and smooth sailing. I hope you live well and happily.]

Regina hadn't responded to this message at the time.

First, she didn't have the number saved and didn't know who sent it.

Second, the message had a hint of ambiguity.

She didn't allow herself to get involved in ambiguous situations.

At that time, Philip had specifically postponed his most important work to attend her graduation ceremony and take photos with her.

That day, Regina's mind was entirely on him.

How could she have paid attention to such a message?

With stiff hands, Regina picked up her current phone and dialed the number.

She didn't expect that after four years, the number was still in use.

As she listened to the ringing, her heart raced, and her eyelids trembled heavily.

In a private room, Douglas, who was only halfway through a social engagement, heard his phone ring.

He picked it up and, seeing the caller ID, his eyes paused thoughtfully.

He had two SIM cards in his phone.

He didn't have a habit of frequently changing numbers.

One was his regular number, which he hadn't changed in over a decade.

The other, though not used as long, was extremely private. It was so private that it only had one number saved.

His fingers hovered over the screen for a few seconds. Despite his chaotic thoughts, he forced himself to calm down and answered the call. "What's the matter, Mrs. Semona?"

Hearing his calm voice, Regina panicked completely.

A flash of white light appeared in her mind, and she seemed to remember something.

It seemed like breaking through this barrier would only take a light touch, but Regina felt it was excruciating.

She tried to control herself, but her voice still trembled. "I found this number in one of the repaired old phones."

"So you found it." He frowned slightly. "Why are you crying?"

Regina quickly wiped the corner of her eye. She suddenly felt like she was falling apart.

She knew he was at a social event, possibly discussing business with some big shots, and that this call might not have come at the right time.

Feeling a lump in her chest, Regina weakly collapsed onto the carpet and whispered, "I'm not crying. You go ahead. I'll hang up now."

Without waiting for a response, Regina hurriedly hung up, afraid that another second would give her away.

At that moment, Douglas stood up with his phone.

Everyone turned their attention to him.

"Sorry, everyone," he said in a low voice, but it was loud enough for everyone to hear. "My wife is home alone, and she sounded like she was crying. I'm worried, so I'll have to excuse myself tonight."

Everyone was stunned for a few seconds but quickly understood.

"No problem, Mr. Semona. You go ahead."

"Your wife is more important."

Everyone expressed their understanding.

After all, Douglas was at the top.

Regina was still holding the old phone, sitting on the carpet in a daze, when she heard a noise at the door.

Instinctively, she looked towards the source of the sound and saw Douglas striding towards her with a worried expression.
