Chapter 121 Because This Is What You Love
[Why gave gardenias? That's so unique. Its flower language is eternal love and lifelong commitment.]
[Looks so great! Sorry, but I totally imagined them as the lead couple in the drama!]
[Do they have to be this sweet? It's killing me!]
[Hey, wait a minute, you guys are playing a married couple in the drama, not in real life!]
[Haha, I knew the production team would stir up some buzz! Our 'Post-Nuptial Passion' has been trending all day!]
[Uh, did everyone forget that Dougal admitted he's married? Please be mindful!]
Regina returned to the hotel, looking at the news links and various comments Miranda had thrown at her. She was a bit surprised.
'This was just a small radio drama. How to put it? It was already a niche thing, and neither she nor Douglas were celebrities; they hadn't even appeared in public. How could they have such a big buzz? Did the production team spend money on marketing? How much would that cost? Even the production cost of an S+ rated radio drama would hardly reach seven figures, right? How could the production team afford such extravagant marketing?'
The more Regina thought about it, the more confused she became.
Miranda, however, was not surprised. "In this age of the internet, even if you're an ordinary person, you could get hundreds of thousands, even millions of likes just by posting a random video. People just like your faces and the vibe. If you're willing, I think you could become famous."
Regina didn't quite understand what Miranda was saying. Nor did she want to delve into it.
She put down her phone and looked at the man standing on the hotel balcony.
Douglas originally had work scheduled for this weekend, but he had postponed it to accompany Regina for the recording.
However, it had been half an hour since they returned from the recording studio to the hotel, and he was still on the phone. From a distance, Regina could vaguely hear that he was talking about work.
While Douglas was on that important call, his eyes kept drifting towards Regina, who was sitting on the sofa.
She was patiently waiting for him.
Douglas's thoughts were already on her. After saying a few more words to the person on the other end of the line, he hung up the phone.
He walked to the sofa, and when their eyes met, he found that Regina's gaze was quite calm. She seemed to have gradually accepted everything after the whole day.
Regina kept wondering that how many things Douglas were still hiding from her.
She remembered the last time she went to Normon University for the Dubbing Club's tenth-anniversary event. She saw Dougal there and got his autograph. She had excitedly bragged about it to him later, and now she could only laugh helplessly.
"Alright, so I was just being played like a fool."
Douglas got uneasy when he heard this, instinctively thinking Regina was angry. He wanted to explain, but Regina turned her head away.
Douglas felt extremely flustered. In that brief moment, dozens of ways to make amends flashed through his mind.
But Regina was never one to get angry easily. He waited for a long time, but she didn't say anything more.
She just sat there silently, her eyes gradually reddening.
Actually, Regina wanted to cry.
However, she remembered the last time she found some "evidence" and cried. Douglas had been very distressed and said he hoped she wouldn't cry the next time she found "evidence." So Regina forced herself to swallow her tears.
"Mrs. Semona..."
As soon as Douglas spoke, Regina suddenly turned around and threw herself into his arms.
With her head buried in his chest, listening to Douglas's steady and strong heartbeat, Regina felt her cold body gradually warming up.
She felt heartache, too.
She felt heartache for this proud man who had repeatedly crushed his pride into the dust for her.
Douglas picked her up, letting her straddle his lap. They could feel each other's breath against their skin.
"There's no special story behind this evidence," he said in his usual calm tone. "Because it's something you love, I wanted to try it too."
At first, he just thought that if they were in the same field, albeit a niche one, and if he stood at the top, would she notice him?
He never imagined that Regina would fall asleep to his voice or that his voice could cure her insomnia.
Otherwise, he would have recorded more radio dramas instead of letting her listen to just that one over and over again.
The atmosphere in the room felt stifling and oppressive because of Regina's silent struggle to hold back her tears.
Douglas kissed the corner of her eye and joked in a light tone, "Congratulations, Mrs. Semona, you've found another piece of evidence. What reward should I give you? How about I give you a reward every time you find a piece of evidence?"
At this moment, Douglas was the best man in the world to Regina.
Regina laughed at his words.
"Then... thank you in advance, Honey."
The word "Honey" slipped out naturally, and Regina could clearly feel Douglas's body stiffen.
His body gradually became hot, burning.
Even through their clothes, Regina could feel it.
Regina thought they would make love that night, but she didn't expect it to end before it even started because Regina got her period.
Feeling the warm flow in her lower abdomen, Regina was both embarrassed and surprised.
"Why is it three days early? I thought it would..."
"Thought it would what?"
Regina shook her head and didn't continue.
In fact, the last time Douglas didn't use a condom and ejaculated twice inside her, Regina thought she might be pregnant.
Regina didn't realize how much she was looking forward to the arrival of that child.
Their lovemaking was interrupted, but Douglas showed no displeasure.
He was only worried if her stomach hurt or if she felt uncomfortable.
"Take a shower. I'll go downstairs to buy you some pads."
"Alright," Regina softly responded in agreement.
Douglas quickly got dressed and went downstairs to a nearby convenience store to get her usual brand.
Regina didn't take long in the shower, just about ten minutes. When she saw Douglas had brought the pads back, she dried herself off and came out.
They spent two days in Normon City completing the recording of the 'Post-Nuptial Passion' radio drama and flew back to Oriant City together at 9 PM on Sunday.
After landing in Oriant City, Regina took a day off to rest at home.
Douglas, however, went to work as usual.
Regina had to wait for him to come home for dinner, but in the evening, he messaged her, saying he was busy and wouldn't be coming back.
Regina was really worried that Douglas would exhaust himself with such a non-stop work schedule.
But actually, Douglas wasn't busy with work that night.
After work, he went to the Peace Club.
Philip was there tonight.
