Chapter 216 He'll Go Crazy

Mars shook his head, looking like he was about to walk into a death trap. "I'm a goner anyway."

Charles stared at Mars, who was blocking the doorway with a bunch of bodyguards dressed in black. His face was all serious. "So, you're not moving, huh?"

Mars said, "There's no one you're looking for in there."

"Bullshit. If there's no one I want to see, why would Douglas be here?" Charles retorted.

Hearing Douglas's name, Mars couldn't keep up the act anymore. "I told you, they're really not in there."

Charles muttered a curse, not wasting any more time arguing, and called over some guys to start wrecking the place.

The entrance to the private room turned into a madhouse in no time.

Even Charles jumped in.

He lunged forward, grabbed Mars by the collar, and slammed him against the hallway wall, yelling, "Regina is sick. I'm not messing around! If something happens to her, Douglas will lose it!"

Mars felt a pang of guilt hearing about Regina's illness.

After all, during Regina's years with Philip, the more he got to know her, the more he understood her.

Even when she finally left Philip, he got it.

He had felt regret for a long time after learning about her illness.

Taking Charles's punches, Mars only blocked a few.

As Charles was about to throw more punches, Mars lowered his voice and gave him a look. "Mr. Rodriguez, I'm already down. What more do you want?"

Charles paused, catching on quickly to what Mars meant.

He let go of Mars and kicked open the private room door.

But when he saw the empty room, he was stunned.

He turned back to the fallen Mars outside the door. "Where are they?"

Mars said weakly, "I told you they're not here."

"What's going on? Where's Philip? Did Regina come to find Philip?" Charles urged.

"I will never betray Mr. Sterling, and I won't tell you where Regina and Mr. Sterling went."

Then Charles thought, 'Wait, something's off.'

"You mean Regina left with Philip?"

Mars awkwardly tried to stay calm. "I didn't say they went towards Riverside South Road."

Charles suddenly got it and patted Mars on the shoulder.

Mars was actually helping him!

He quickly let go of Mars's collar, straightened it politely, and whispered in Mars's ear, "Thanks!"

Charles couldn't help but believe Mars, looking at his clean and gentle face.

In fact, this time Mars wasn't lying.

He hoped Douglas could find Regina and then take her away from Philip.

Because that would be the best outcome for all three of them.

Although he had always stood by Philip's side without hesitation, he knew that forcing Regina to stay would only lead to mutual destruction for both Regina and Philip.

Charles quickly reported to Douglas on the phone, "Douglas, don't come to Peace Club. They went towards Riverside South Road!"

With a screech, a silver-gray supercar made a sharp U-turn at the intersection and zoomed towards Riverside South Road.

Philip hadn't had a moment alone with Regina in ages.

But now, she was right there in his passenger seat.

She was quiet, not putting up a fight.

Of course, the confusion and helplessness in her eyes were hard to miss.

Philip asked, "Why did you suddenly think of me and call me?"

Her mind felt like it was drowning in a fog, flooded with questions.

She kept asking herself over and over, her eyes locked on the road ahead.

The city lights reflected in her pupils, but her gaze was clouded with a gray haze.

After a long silence, she finally spoke, "I have something to ask you."

Philip lightly tapped the steering wheel, stopping at a red light. "Go ahead."

Regina asked, "Was it you that night at the Seasons Hotel?"

Philip knew about Regina's illness and that severe memory loss was one of the symptoms.

He didn't answer right away, thinking back to that day.

She had stood in front of him, clearly scared but trying to stay calm, asking, "Was it you that night?"

Right now, he could say anything or something vague to mess with her.

He looked at her sitting in the passenger seat.

Regina, usually so cold and strong, now looked like a fragile glass doll.

One wrong word from Philip could shatter her.

The light turned green. He started the car and merged into traffic.

"Don't be nervous," he said softly.

Regina's eyelashes fluttered, but she stubbornly refused to look at him.

Philip thought bitterly, 'Isn't it memory loss? Why can't she love me again?'

Regina urged, "Tell me, who was it that night?"

"Is it important to you?"

"Yes."

Philip's face stayed calm, but inside, he was a mess.

"Do you love him now?" He dodged her question, probing instead.

It was clear who he meant by "him."

Regina answered without hesitation, "Yes, I love him."

Philip's self-mocking smile grew.

Suppressing his emotions, he calmly said, "It wasn't me that night."

Regina's mind felt like it was splitting open.

Images from that night flooded back.

She was trapped beneath him, but his face was always a blur.

She slowly closed her eyes.

Numb, hollow, like a soulless shell.

"Do you want to know who he is?"

That time, he had told her the man that night was a rapist.
